hello everyone!! just published the first chapter of a new zoey/max fanfic i’ve been working on. it’s an AU coffee shop meet cute where Zoey’s been working at SPRQ Point for three years, but Max doesn’t … instead, he and Mo are in a pop duo called MAXIMO (yes, stylized in all caps) together. i love the Max/Mo dynamic this season so i decided to take them as business partners and put an ENTIRELY different spin on it. if you have the time, i would love to hear your thoughts ! it’ll definitely be on the fluffier side, but there’s also some angst down the line.

That episode of Zoey’s (and Simon’s announcement last episode) was extremely well done. They’ve always done a very good job at being inclusive, but come on. I’m black. I trust no television show -  especially a network television show - to handle an in-depth discussion of race. And if they manage to do so decently, I definitely don’t expect for them to to address it from more than one angle. So, it was a very nice surprise.

s2e06 of zoey’s extraordinary playlist was so good and it beautifully demonstrates the power of letting underrepresented voices tell their own stories. historically, as fun as this show is, the writing has always felt painfully white to me. having Zora Bikangaga, a black man, write an episode about the exclusion of people of colour from positions of power is a big step in the right direction. it’s definitely the kind of episode the show’s primarily white audience needed to watch
