hello, today i’ll be demonstrating the art of deduction and how i narrowed down this lovely chap’s 11 possible countries of origin
okay so in the manga Aguri stated that Korosensei wasn’t Japanese, which made me jump to the conclusion he could be Eastern European. however a lot of background details show why this can’t be true.
okay so the background text is in the Latin alphabet, ruling out any countries using cyrillic or any other alphabet. another important thing is that the policeman’s badge says “Policia”, the term for police in Albanian, Spanish, and Portuguese.
in his flashback, you can see palm trees and a clear sky, which means it’s a warm climate country. this got me thinking of Latin American countries which are stereotyped in the media for the same issues explained in the show and anime.
taking all of this into account (stereotypes, linguistics and scenery), we have:
Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Cuba, Albania and Timor Leste.
obviously the ones that would seem to make the most sense would be the first 9 listed, considering notoriety and even the fact the current most dangerous hit man is in fact a man of Latin heritage. however, Albania and East Timor are probably the two most likely contenders.
Serbia, Irina’s birth place, and Albania share a border. Koro and Irina’s backstories sound quite similar, which would make sense if the two countries were neighbours. i know it isn’t the first place you think of when you hear corruption, but based on what i’ve been told by friends from Albania and even on google, it definitely sounds similar to the place described in his back story. also his fashion most definitely looked European in style. EDIT: he’s canonically described as pale, which is more common for an Albanian man than someone from Latin America.
Timor Leste, isn’t exactly notorious for corruption, but it is plausible; a Portuguese speaking country with some problems with drugs and poverty. one thing that did strike me however was THIS on google images:
when i was researching the country, i thought it was the same building from different angles. but there are more than one and these are actually quite prevalent. side by side:
i’m literally sobbing okay i’m watching Deadpool 2 and it got to the scene where Wade meets Vanessa on the other side. And it is TOTALLY how i imagine Koro and Aguri reunited😭😭😭
so there’s a barrier between them separating one another; he on the left, and she on the right. as they finally manage to reach through the barrier to one another, Vanessa pulls Wade in and his disfigured form goes back to how he looked before he got the powers in that experimentation lab that turned him into Deadpool. he states “I had to help a kid,” and asks if this little place they shared together when alive is their heaven. she responds “it is now,” and Wade apologises for not being quick enough to save her before she died.
as a baby she was left on the doorstep of a random house in Sydney by her parents, presumably due to financial instability. unbeknownst to them, that house belonged to the then-18 Atlas, one of the world’s most dangerous men who decided to raise her as both a daughter and protégé. he gained his name after killing at least 1 person in 170 countries in only 5 years.
because of their almost equal skillset, Atlas was sometimes payed to work alongside The Reaper, and so Saeko grew up hearing stories about him from her mentor. it was obvious how much he looked up to him, and in time she began to just as much. soon, it became her motivation to improve drastically so she could help Atlas on one of the tough jobs he did alongside The Reaper so she could meet her inspiration. by 10 she had killed her first person, and by 13 her body count was 35. Saeko could already speak 7 languages by that time (English, Russian, Japanese, Mandarin, Icelandic, Spanish and Italian) and became an excellent strategist. around this same time, 2 weeks before she was set to work alongside her mentor and her idol for the first time, The Reaper lost all contact with Atlas and called off the job. the possibility of death was ruled out as his killings continued, so Atlas chalked it up to professional distance despite Saeko’s suspicions.
upon Saeko’s surprise arrival, Korosensei was caught completely off guard making it easy for her to land a hit on the side of his head straight away. he recognised her, as after their jobs he and her mentor would drink in the closest bar, where Atlas would pull out photos and brag about how amazing his apprentice is. already knowing a lot about her made it easier to ease Saeko into a school setting and apply her extensive knowledge to the curriculum. the two of them got along very well, despite her being wary of him initially.
during The Reaper 2.0 arc, she genuinely didn’t know that he wasn’t the real deal, and hurled insults at him. she told him he was an asshole, that he “didn’t know who he was fucking with,” and brought up Atlas. much to her confusion, he responded with “sweetheart I have no idea who that is.” when he died, she was conflicted emotionally; not because her idol had perished, but because she knew something was wrong. she had seen pictures of The Reaper, and he rarely wore anything other than the same trench coat, not to mention a completely different face. she just chalked this up to the fact he could technically change faces, and stopped worrying about it.
the day of the career counselling is when Saeko started to piece things together. when Korosensei asked what she wanted to be, she simply said “an assassin,” and he simply responded “as expected. in that case i’ll lead you down the path to become the greatest this world has ever seen.” hmmmm…how would he know how to do THAT? the cherry on the cake was later that day when Atlas made a surprise visit; Korosensei screamed like a little girl and started talking in a weird high pitched voice to him (he didn’t Atlas to recognise his voice). later that day Saeko posed a theory to Terasaka, Sugaya, Hazama, Fuwa and Kimura. in a summary, the theory went:
“the man we saw was not The Reaper, but actually his protégé. the dude he told Karasuma about was the real deal, and he somehow stole his identity. maybe the real deal was actually Korosensei, and the weirdo turned him in because of jealousy or something.”
no one except Fuwa brought it (she said “sounds exactly like something that would happen in this kind of manga!”). Saeko admittedly had no evidence except a gut feeling and a handful of things she thought were weird.
when Korosensei’s past actually came to light, Saeko was actually pleased that she was half right, but downright awestruck that her teacher and friend good old Koro was the same man she’d looked up to all her life. she introduced herself as Atlas’ protégé, and he revealed he’d known all along. she wondered why along the way, the teacher who made her feel like a part of a real family for the first time became more of an inspiration than The Reaper, so it was pleasant to know that they were one in the same (she was worried she’d gone all soft).
after that day, Korosensei came into class with everyone surrounding Saeko then turning to laugh at him. wondering what all the commotion was about, he looked over Saeko’s shoulder only to see pictures of him as a human almost black out drunk. she asked Atlas to send them to her that morning to show everyone because she thought it was “funny as shit.” needless to say he got very flustered and started punching the wall mumbling to himself about being a bad influence. all the girls, including Saeko, were a little more concerned about how such an ikeman could turn into…well, him.
while he layed down to rest for the final time, Saeko started sobbing even more than the rest of the class, despite never usually showing emotion. she stood up and started shouting “there has to be something we can do!!” at Karasuma, making even him tear up. Karma and Maehara had to pull her away (yes, there had to be two of them), and Korosensei helped her calm down. before Nagisa finished the job, she asked why he never told her how to become the best assassin. he told her to just wait and see. as he floated away in the form of yellow orbs, she cried uncontrollably in Yada’s arms; the man she had looked up to all her life was now resting, in a place with a second chance with his apprentice and the girl he loved. finally, Korosensei, The Reaper, was at peace. she passed out pretty much as soon as she reached her desk, and woke up to find instead on 2 books, she had 3. the extra was the promised guide on how to be the world’s greatest assassin, with all of The Reaper’s techniques and tricks, even sometimes in manga form. the final page read “you will never be alone, as i’ll live on beside you - me, Aguri, and my protégé. make me proud missy! you’ll surpass me in no time!” with an old picture of him and Atlas. this set her off crying once again, obviously.
7 years later, Saeko had read the guide 10 times over, memorising every detail and technique like the palm of her hand. at only 22 she was already infamous for being one of the world’s deadliest people, all thanks to Korosensei. she now wears a hooded trench coat, similar in design to the robe Korosensei wore as a teacher, and a dark red tunic. initially she thought about taking the name Reaper on herself, but decided to lay that legacy to rest with the men who rightfully earned the title. Saeko is known as Magdelana, an angel of death known for charisma and beauty that will lure you into a certain death trap. in the corner of her eye, she always sees the spirits of Korosensei, Aguri and The Reaper, never leaving her side like promised. whenever she can, she visits E Class’ building when everyone else does, staying low profile while keeping in touch with the family she never had.

of course she’s in the Terasaka gang,,, where else would an angry, emotionally messy transfer student go??? her backstory is really long but basically she was raised by an assassin to become one and was called in to take down korosensei. her motivation was always to become good enough so someday she could work beside her inspiration, The Reaper.
guys where tf is Korosensei even from??? i always thought he was from Ukraine or something but that policeman has “policia” on his arm and the writing in the background is never even in cyrillic. i’m putting my money on Albania or maybe somewhere in South America???
my favourite anime is about a boy with a hidden power inside who was abused by the person who looked after him. he gets taken under the wing of a seemingly kind man who’s past is surrounded in mystery, and begins to look up to him. turns out this man’s past was being a contract killer, and he actually had a apprentice who he tried to teach with harsh methods, and now his old apprentice wants revenge because all he ever wanted was his mentor’s acknowledgement and approval. due to the man’s closest loved one dying in his arms and their final wish, he decided to become a kinder version of himself and quit a life of murder. the main character, inspired by what the man did for him, takes a young helpless girl under his wing and does the same for her. the boy’s mentor has two snazzy coworkers; a badass beautiful woman portrayed as quite seductive, and a man with strong ideals who comes across stern and strict but actually cares for everyone.
I don’t want to sound rude, but can you provide evidence for Terasaka’s character development?
sure here u go:
on a more serious note, throughout the series terasaka grows from a person who doesnt care about his classmates outside of his small group of friends + a person who is willing to put his classmates (nagisa) in danger + take advantage of them for his own personal gain, to someone instead willing to sacrifice his own health + carry on despite everything if it means not bringing down his peers. which is most evident, at least imo, here:
he acknowledges that his previous actions have put his peers in danger + even almost killed them, and takes responsibility for that. + idk about u but i dont think the terasaka we’re introduced to at the very beginning of the series would do that. like he attempts to shift the blame of the Grenade Incident ™ onto nagisa, which contrasts heavily to what he displays in the above panel.
theres also how he takes in itona + takebayashi (tho the latter to a slightly lesser extent). bc again, at the beginning terasaka is absolutely unwilling to cooperate with the rest of the class, only sticking to muramatsu + yoshida (and hazama, tho she doesnt rly follow him so much as she hangs out with him, but theres definitely a significant element of trust between them), in other words, those who share his initial viewpoints:
but later on, after the incident w shiro, terasaka opens himself up more to the rest of the class + joins in with their assassination attempts (the most notable being ofc the one on the island). then comes itona, and terasaka proves himself to be someone able to look after + understand others, in stark contrast to the behaviour he dislplays at the very beginning.
does this make any sense???? idk + im sorry if it doesnt, but i hoped it helped at least - bc imo, terasaka has some of the best character development in the series, and honestly its pretty hard to miss ksfjsnsn
rewatching Assclass and i thought when Shiro came into the room Korosensei was literally just scared of the magic, but he probably knew it was Yanagisawa and that’s why he hid on the ceiling sweating buckets😭😭😭
i’m crying i’m rewatching Korosensei Quest and in the episode with Irina, Korosensei asks Karasuma if he “bats for the other team” because he wasn’t entranced, and then it switches to Karma and Nagisa being the only other ones not entranced stood behind Irina😭😭😭
