am I foolish for wanting this?
it will end in flames
it always does
maybe I like the way it feels to burn
Do you ever miss the GOT fandom? I mean I know that when that fandom was toxic it was REALLY bad but it was such a large fandom with so many communities and ships and theories and gif makers. It was lowkey fun I can’t believe I miss it lol. Even tho I’m in the SAB fandom now it’s nothing like the scale of the GOT fandom!
yeah i do. i miss all the theorising and the content and the engagement with the books and the show. it was great while it lasted. that being said, whilst i’m still in it with asoiaf, i would never go back to it fully cause the space is lowkey dead lol. everyone’s divided and has just about everyone else blocked, and before where you could get 4k on a gifset you’re lucky if you get 400. it just isn’t as fun anymore
lately ive been thinking about the quote “Know that I loved you. Know that it was not enough” from ruin & rising and how truly heartbreaking it is??? it’s really just an act of abandonment on Baghra’s part, as if the darkling wasn’t alone enough already. before this quote i was just mostly neutral about baghra, neutral abt the interpretation of her as some badass MILF, but i can’t get past how thoroughly she fails her son to the end.
seriously, since the moment he’s born, she raises him up on a pedestal, teaching him that he’s a god and that everything else is dust compared to him, and then she becomes the pikachu surprised face when that skews his worldview and results in his bad actions? she damns him into this “me against the world” perspective (especially bc she doesn’t seem to care about making things better for the Gregs even half as much as aleksander does) and then with her last words she condemns HIM and blames HIM for what are actually her failings?
obviously the way he was raised isn’t the only contributing factor to why aleks is Like That but it makes me think of that quote from the good place when they said “People improve when they get external love and support. How can we hold it against them when they don’t?”
anyway. yes. i think i’m just looking for a little acceptance of the blame on her part, a little accountability for the absolute unhinged way she decided to raise her son, but we never got it and never will. bc in lb’s world absolutely everything is the darkling’s fault.

“Where do you think the money went?” he repeated.
“Guns?” asked Jesper.
“Ships?” queried Inej.
“Bombs?” suggested Wylan.
“Political bribes?” offered Nina. They all looked at Matthias. “This is where you tell us how awful we are,” she whispered.
He shrugged. “They all seem like practical choices.”
6 different staff bots followed me in the last 3 hours but yeah we should all obviously pay money for this site 🙄
love the Olympics this is when being jamaican really pays off
Only Braavosi were permitted use of the Purple Harbor, from the Drowned Town and the Sealord’s Palace; ships from her sister cities and the rest of the wide world had to use the Ragman’s Harbor, a poorer, rougher, dirtier port than the Purple. It was noisier as well, as sailors and traders from half a hundred lands crowded its wharves and alleys, mingling with those who served and preyed on them. Cat liked it best of any place in Braavos. She liked the noise and the strange smells, and seeing what ships had come in on the evening tide and what ships had departed. She liked the sailors too; the boisterous Tyroshi with their booming voices and dyed whiskers; the fair-haired Lyseni, always trying to niggle down her prices; the squat, hairy sailors from the Port of Ibben, growling curses in low, raspy voices. Her favorites were the Summer Islanders, with their skins as smooth and dark as teak. They wore feathered cloaks of red and green and yellow, and the tall masts and white sails of their swan ships were magnificent.
And sometimes there were Westerosi too, oarsmen and sailors off carracks out of Oldtown, trading galleys out of Duskendale, King’s Landing, and Gulltown, big-bellied wine cogs from the Arbor. Cat knew the Braavosi words for mussels and cockles and clams, but along the Ragman’s Harbor she cried her wares in the trade tongue, the language of the wharves and docks and sailor’s taverns, a coarse jumble of words and phrases from a dozen languages, accompanied by hand signs and gestures, most of them insulting. Those were the ones that Cat liked best. – A Feast For Crows

Not the same anon but which plot twists do u think Leigh has messed up?
the amplifier stuff, anything to do with matthias, the darkling or alina. thinking she’s subverting expectations or being feminist with her themes and plot points but it’s actually the same tropes we’ve seen time and again. plus all the things that should have been twists and amounted to something that she just left cause constructing a satisfying and detailed plot was too hard i guess
Yknow, maybe Merlin coulda fixed Arthur’s fatal magic sword wound if he had brought a packet of those kiddie bandaids that have cartoon characters on them. I have full confidence that a Pikachu bandaid woulda healed Arthur better than Avalon ever could
