Starting us off for our first cryptid Profile is a creature very near and dear to my heart, like a warm blanket on a cold winter night…
Today we are shining some light on
Thylacinus Cynocephalus (Dog Headed Pouched One)
The Thylacine is most commonly known as the pouched wolf or Tasmanian Tiger, which is actually highly inaccurate to how it actually looked and acted. The thylacine was a fox to dog sized carnivorous marsupial from the Order of dasyuromorphia. Evolving from small meat eating possum like creatures that scuttled around ancient Australian soil, it is a true statement that the thylacine is a tragic Australian icon that will always stay in our hearts for centuries.
Thylacine vocalization has been described in past scripture as almost fox like, a range of coughing barks, shrills and growls would come from a thylacine weather it was scared, elated or simply just looking for a mate. Thylacine vocalization is little know about because it was never recorded, only video with no sound was available at the time that zoos and private collections kept thylacines in captivity.
Very little is known about the thylacine at all, and the chance of finding one or possibly cloning ine could answer the questions that modern scientists and thylacine enthusiasts have.
Anyways, That is enough for today. I may do a follow up soon if I am not too busy making art for the studio.
See you soon. Xx ~John
