Leaves cavort overhead, an endless game of catch with the sun’s golden beams.
Imagine a time before civilisation had spread its wings, when you could drink safely from the clean waters of a stream and not fear the diseases it might carry. Do you not sometimes want to return to such a time? I know I do.
Lay back and watch the wisps of cloud mill and dissipate above you. Listen to the breath of wind in the pine needles above, that send dappled shadows over your upturned face, and understand what paradise means to you in that moment.

I know that when I joined this community, I spent a while searching out other people, seeing what their views and perception of the “core” was, before I started posting under it. I considered it at the time, and still consider (I do this with every new “core” I join) to be basic courtesy to the existing community. I hear that you think “adventurecore” is an umbrella term and encompasses all cores. The rest of us do not see it that way. I am sorry. 🍄 (2/2)
Despite the fact that I pulled all off of tumblr, I will take the time to explain and respond to your post.
Actually I did investigate the whole adventurecore aesthetic and the others since lockdown started in March. I sent messages to tons of people to maybe explain it all to me. Only 3 people responded and they never answered the questions I posed to them. Just a general “Hi”. So I had to lots of guessing to figure out. But then I realized that I never joined a GROUP. Its just random people from around the planet, linked together by a single hashtag.
I will always see adventurecore as an umbrella term. The word ADVENTURE was not coined by Tolkien to mean only FANTASY nor does it only pertain to exclusive people wanting to live a life in Keltic Dark-Age Europe. Brownleatherboots can pretend it does all he wants but it does not. It is his fault this went down, for his use of a word that encompasses all societies and social hobbies. And it is not my fault that I happen to have lots of hobbies, interests and loves, not just pretending to be elves and running about the woods. Herakles, one of the greatest heroes and adventurers ever, Sinbad, Christopher Columbus, Marco Polo, Davy Crockett, Daniel Boone…all adventurers. BUT since Brownleather boots deems they are not, I guess what he says goes. In truth I am shocked he does not come down on those that do not dress only in green and brown.
The only shit that went down is what the king of adventurecore AKA Brownleatherboots started, because he looked at my board and did not like it. No, I did not try to re-define anything. I did not join his elite “group” or anything. I created a profile and started to post images of what touches my heart and what an adventure means to me ON MY BOARD. That is no ones business but my own. I did not aim my posts at anyone. Just put them out there and for others to maybe get the same spark they gave me. And I gave tags to the images as I saw fit. Its not like I was posting a picture of a tree and calling it a pizza or a lion calling it a duck. I had made tons of other posts besides the supposed “Offending ones.” Oddly I got not one complaint from people into any of the other cores I listed (Beach, Greek, Pirate, Cottage, Camping, River, Mountain, Village, Tavern, Western, Cowboy, Hockey) But again, I did not join an adventurecore GROUP. I was posting on MY board. I think its more rude for someone to tell other people not to use certain tags on a page that has no connection to them. I posted several images of meals I made and yet I never got one person telling me that I should not tag a picture of a steak as “Food”. The pictures of me playing hockey, no one can charging in and demanding I not tag it as “Sports”.
In conclusion, this whole issue by brownleatherboots is a desperate call for attention and throw a trumpian tirade. Being he is not running a GROUP, his cry and demand on Tumblr that everyone sees Adventurecore his way, is actually demanding to the entirety of Tumblr. Maybe if he spent less time dictating other peoples lives and more time on his elite group, it would not be “so small” as he claims.
So the only thing I am guilty of is taking the word ADVENTURE for its actual meaning and not taking orders by a teenager with multi profiles.
All of this is null and void anyway. Your illustrious leader and his several made profiles made it uncomfortable enough for me and I pull out of tumblr. And all for the better. So Brownleatherboots can feel safe that his specialized core will stay safe and small. I found a much better site that knows what Adventurecore really is and there are no dictatorship. So win-win.
I want to wake up in the mornings and look at the trees above me, the only ceiling you want or need. I want to be able to walk through the wilderness and sometimes through the small towns, not aimlessly, but not necessarily with a clear destination in mind. I want to listen to the birdsong, noticing how it changes from region to region. I want to own a sword. I want to watch the sun rise and set as I walk. I want to smell the smoke of my campfire in the evening as it curls upwards to form a pillar, stretching into the night sky. I want to watch the stars as I go to sleep. I want to wake again to the new morning to do it all again. I want…
We’ll go on a journey. There’s no particular destination, no high stakes, nothing to run from or towards. But we wander anyway.
We’ll see things, beautiful and strange. We’ll meet people, too. Our boots will scuff, our coats will fray, and the wind will stain our cheeks red. I will take your hand, and you will take mine, and we’ll be vagabonds.
Let’s go on a journey together.
Can you hear the soft rushing noise of the forest stream? Listen, and you can make out the patterns in the noise as it moves over and around the rocks that were placed in its path in ages past.
Perfect Day for an Adventure
The deep, long blow of the train’s horn, through the darkness of the morning, interrupted my deep sleep. I stretched and yawned, trying to get ready for the day ahead.
The smells of blueberry waffles and syrup rid me of the rest of my sleepiness. The sweet singing of my grandmother put me in a very pleasant mood while I sat at the table, watching the birds chirp and sing while they, too, were getting ready to eat a hearty breakfast.
After some very fulfilling waffles, I packed my art supplies and a lunch (almond butter and honey sandwiches), my grandmother and I headed off, taking the first few steps of our journey.
Quiet steps through the misty morning, we hear loud slaps against the river’s surface, a sign that the beavers are awake. As we walk along the trail we know so well, we hear the forest stirring. A woodpecker taps steadily against a pine, filling the animal’s hearts with vigor like war drums.
We step through the waking woods, cautious to not disturb some of the animals that have yet to rise. The sun’s golden rays rub away the mist from the eye’s of the earth, and we can finally see the full green of the wood. The morning passes slowly, but is never boring.
The sun rises through the sky, as we camp by the river, snacking on our sandwiches. We watch the herons stand still, enjoying his lunch as well. Both the turtles and I enjoy the warmth of the sun, for it will soon be too cold to spend the days like this.
As my grandmother cheerfully snacks on treasures found in berry bushes, I sketch the native plants and animals. Trying to document the world, eager to replicate reality. The bright sun and brilliant landscapes never cease to bring me inspiration.
The trees tower over us, their great wisdom too much to comprehend. We give our thanks to the forest spirits, as they guide us through these woods. This great peace I feel, at the very core of my being, can never be replicated, never copied.
Come at sit with me for a while? We can discuss whatever you want, or just sit in silence enjoying the untroubled breeze.
Gods it feels good to be back in nature
Ngl it kinda irks me that a few months ago I was getting some frankly quite aggressive messages about how I wasn’t able to find time to credit the images I used in my moodboards … and yet here the-autumn-wood is, posting 10-20 uncredited images a day and no one has said anything about it.
ugh, I saw the-autumn-wood continue posting pagan/core as well as starting to post Hellini/core -corvid-kitten (sorry, forgot to sign off my other ask)
Yep, it seems they don’t much give a shit, and are determined to continue tagging actual religions regardless of how many people they’re pissing off. There’s not much we can do short of sending hate messages (which I do not believe are ever justified, please don’t do this), or just,,,, blocking them.
