*makes a post about Izumi*
Y’all: Izumi? Izumi? More Izumi? Izumi? Kyazumi? Kyalinzumi? Izumi?
do you think there is a possibility to get kyalin to interact or maybe a secret relationship in the new avatar and korra announced stuff? :)
I genuinely hope that they acknowledge Kya’s queerness somehow whether it be showing a relationship she had on her travels or something, but I kind of doubt they’ll feed us kyalin fans.
If they do, I’m gonna lose my mind. Please, bryke, I won’t be mad if you retcon things to make them canon, I just want to see them together onscreen or in a comic 😭
Regarding the big news: I am cautiously hopeful but not optimistic
Hiiiiii I saw recently you've been posting about lin and izumi do you have any HC about lin with izumi's kids (iron and ursa)?
This is where it all breaks down because Lin would have been 14 when Iroh was born according to the wiki and afaik there’s no info on Ursa besides the fact she supposedly exists, and Lin absolutely does not want to be a parent in any capacity
My guess is she just treats them the same as she would regardless because anything else would make her and them uncomfortable
(Naturally this assumes she and Izumi got together when they’re both older otherwise it’s a bit weird yknow)
i saw your linzumi hc’s and now i’m hooked🧍♀️.. more please 🤲🤲
- okay but they’d be so sweet?? Lin would outwardly hate being doted on but she just melts when Izumi spoils her?
- and Lin’s always doing little things for Izumi herself, like cooking for her or brushing her hair even tho she has a whole palace of servants to do all that, but Lin wants to do it when she’s there
- and when Izumi takes secret vacations to visit Lin in RC she likes doing cutesy couple things that Lin tolerates because she knows Izumi doesn’t get to do that sort of thing back home
Okay now more adult themed things under the cut
- Izumi likes to visit Lin because they can be as loud as they want without the risk of guards barging in if they hear a shout
- also, Izumi in lingerie? Hoo boy
- sometimes she feels a little inadequate physically because she’s older than Lin and, y’know, she’s had kids, but Lin always lays her fears to rest with how she basically worships her
- Izumi is the queen of dirty talk and Lin thinks she shouldn’t be quite so turned on by being called a pretty little slut but alas it’s a weakness
- especially when she’s bent over her own kitchen counter with Izumi’s fingers inside her
- but she can turn it around just as fast. Not saying she has a set of cables she keeps in her dresser just for use in bed, buuuuut
- that’s exactly what I’m saying
- and Izumi looks so gorgeous all tied up like a present for her to do whatever she likes with
Fandom: Legend of Korra
Summary: If whales were going to keep washing up on the beaches of her town, Lin Beifong decides that her police force may as well be trained to handle it. She gets a bit more than she bargained for when she meets Kya, head of the local stranding network.
I suppose its the end of the month lol
It's loving Kya hours! Does she have silly little habits?
How is tenzin and Bumi with the fire crackers?
Oh man Bumi is the FUN UNCLE they adore getting up to nonsense with him. He teaches them to bake some of the traditional air nomad pastries and they love hearing stories from him. He’ll tell them little things they can do to prank Lin and Kya and it works every time. I think he also takes them on air bison rides (little personal headcanon but he’s got a very sweet bison named Jiji)
The twins also love Tenzin and the rest of the air fam—Mako and Rina really wanted to get the twins into meditation, and some of the basic airbending forms also help them control and direct their firebending better. Tenzin’s great with kids and I think he’s the first to put forward the idea of sleepovers at ATI so Mako and Rina can have a night to themselves once in a while.
Please can we have some Kya-needing-care hcs? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease? *Pabu eyes*
This woman, okay? This woman who we literally are told, in cannon, is willing to give up her entire life to take care of the people she cares about??? Someone take care of her please (don’t worry people do that’s one thing she’s always been very lucky about: not being alone, but it unfortunately means that as comfortable as she is with sharing her emotions, she also knows how to hide when she needs taking care of)
could you do 🌶 linzumi (lin x fire lord izumi) ?? it’s not common but i’ve been getting into it and i haven’t seen any spicy hc’s for it or even 🌶 kya/lin/izumi hc’s which ever is fine:’)
Linzumi is criminally underrated
- Lin gets so FLUSTERED Izumi knows just how to tease her by dropping innuendos or just looking at her a certain way until they can get somewhere private
- Lin likes taking her time with Izumi, working her up slowly until she can’t even speak and she’s absolutely desperate to finish
- in return Izumi’s a little rough, the way Lin likes it, trying to push her to her limits (in a safe way) and give her what she wants
- I’m just saying with a presumed firebender there’s absolutely gotta be some temperature play
- I can’t see them in anything but an LDR and can you IMAGINE the letters they send each other. Lin’s surprisingly good at describing exactly how she touches herself when she thinks about Izumi and Izumi repays in kind.
- and when they see each other it’s almost impossible for them to not have their hands all over each other. Lin likes to take the lead usually which Izumi enjoys, being ordered around a little, and Lin is more than happy to have her girlfriend on her knees for her
- Lin thinks Izumi is perfect and can’t get enough of her. Izumi adores Lin’s body and could spend hours tracing her muscles (but that just turns her on, so, win-win)
- in conclusion: these ladies horny
you got any headcannons rn about kya and mako?
- frequent joking complaining about how difficult Lin is? Yeah
- Kya doesn’t trust anyone but herself to work on his arm after he’s injured in s4
- Mako likes listening to her talk about her travels while she works on him, because he’d never really seen much besides RC before meeting Korra
- Kya sort of adopts him on the spot when he first tells her about working for the Triads as a kid just to survive and take care of Bolin
- she’s really pretty upset that they were put in that situation and she hounds Lin about trying to do something for the unhoused in RC, especially the kids
- Kya likes taking Mako to try new restaurants with her because Bolin has some food sensitivities and Lin’s just a picky eater
- she’s also 90% of the reason Lin invites him to stay the night at least once every couple of weeks. Kya made it a rule that if it’s past nine and Lin leaves and Mako’s still there that Lin has to bring him home to make sure he sleeps
Just the idea of Tenzin being so grievously injured by the Red Lotus that Mako and Bolin can’t get him out of the temple and they’re just so sick to their stomachs as they’re forced to leave him behind. He tells them, “Make sure they all know how much I love them.”
Kai rescues them, and asks, unknowingly, “Where’s Master Tenzin?”
Bolin and Mako exchange a look. Mako says, “We’ll explain later.”
They hope, vainly that if Tenzin can just hold on, that the lava doesn’t beat them, that they can get Lin and Suyin back to help tunnel into the room where they left him and rescue him.
Then the temple collapses. Mako’s heart sinks somewhere into his stomach. Bolin throws up over Lefty’s side. Kai puts two and two together and cries while he steers Lefty back.
When they make it back to everyone else, Mako pulls Lin aside.
“I’m so fucking sorry, Lin, we couldn’t get him out. He couldn’t walk, and the lavabender started destroying the temple. Lin, he’s…”
“Mako, what are you saying?”
“The temple collapsed off the mountainside. Tenzin’s dead.”
It’s a gut punch to be sure. Lin almost throws up herself—she doesn’t do outward emotion but her body compensates.
“Are you sure?”
“It would take a miracle for him to have survived.”
There’s a heartbroken bellow from the sky: Oogi. Somehow, in whatever bond an airbender forms with their bison, he knows. Lin calls him down; she’s a familiar face, after having watched him grow up alongside Tenzin.
They rescue the other airbenders, Kya and Bumi broken and battered, Opal collapsing into the arms of her mother and boyfriend, and the air family dashing out of the cave to meet…Oogi. But where’s…where’s Tenzin?
Lin can’t bring herself to tell them while Korra’s fighting Zaheer—Jinora realizes the power of her people and helps take him down, tells the Beifong sisters that they can save Korra. And they do.
Pema catches onto the looks Mako and Bolin and Lin keep sending her and finally corners them all.
“Where is my husband?”
There’s not a gentle enough way to break it, because they all understand the implications of Tenzin’s death. Jinora, knowing that she was intended to receive her master tattoos and ceremony, becomes the closest living thing to a master the Air Nation has.
And the world weeps.
Just read your Tenzin dies au, very interesting. Could you maybe write a fic about the kids finding out about Lin and Pema’s relationship, and one of them not taking it so well, as if they’d feel insulted over the fact that Lin was replacing their dad, and Pema moving on so fast, but after a heart to heart talk, they come around to the idea.
I perhaps lost the thread of the ask a little along the way, but I do enjoy me some angry teenagers
Jinora kicks a pebble out of the way and looks at Lin out of the corner of her eye; the Chief almost seems nervous, and Jinora figures she probably is under the armor. She hadn’t expected the offer (more of an order, really) to take a walk around the island, and now that they’re far from the temple, Jinora figures the Chief is finally going to address the scene Jinora had witnessed the previous evening.
“Jinora…you know how proud of you your father would be, right?”
This is unexpected. Jinora can’t stop her eyebrows scrunching together, nor the, “What?” that seems almost too loud for the space around them. Just when she thinks she has Chief Beifong figured out, the woman always manages to surprise her.
“You’ve done an incredible amount for your people these past few years. He and your grandfather would be beyond proud to see you and your siblings continuing their legacy with the new airbenders.”
“And I will be here to support you in any way I can,” Lin continues, “but you already knew that. Just know that I am not going to replace your father. Your mother and I don’t want any of you to feel that way.”
“So she’s dating you?”
Lin glances away, heart sinking at the accusatory tone in Jinora’s voice. The young master airbender—the only living master, after her father’s death three years ago—seems on the verge of either crying or striking out at Lin, so she chooses her words carefully.
“Jinora, I love your mother and you and your siblings with every fiber of my being. And yes, she loves me back.”
“I might have expected it from Dad because he never really got over you, but not Mom,” Jinora spits. When Lin recoils as if she’s been struck, Jinora adds, “I’ve been reading his journals. Or maybe that’s why you hang around? One last knife in his back when he’s already dead, making his wife fall in love with you?”
“Jinora, it’s not like that.”
“Then what is it?” Jinora waits a beat for an answer Lin doesn’t have, tears falling as she faces down the chief. “Of course you don’t have anything to fucking say.”
Lin reaches out a hand on instinct, hoping maybe the contact will shock Jinora out of whatever is driving her to speak this way, but the teen slaps her hand away.
“Don’t fucking touch me.”
“Jinora,” Lin says gently, “This isn’t like you.”
“Maybe it is. You’ve just been so busy chasing my mom that you wouldn’t have noticed.”
Jinora whips around and leaves, the motion accompanied by a gust of chill, almost freezing air. The sensation, so at odds with the warmth and humidity of the afternoon, is the cherry on top of the sick feeling in Lin’s stomach. She staggers, then drops to her knees and heaves into the bushes beside her until there’s nothing left.
She returns to the temple once she no longer feels like the earth is spinning out from under her and silently helps prepare dinner. Pema knows there’s something wrong the minute she lays eyes on Lin. But Lin doesn’t answer her, won’t even make eye contact, and Pema knows better than to pry. Dinner comes and goes without Jinora joining them, and Pema sets a plate aside for her for later. Once Ikki and Meelo have been sent off to brush their teeth, Lin joins Pema in the kitchen to wash and dry dishes. It’s as the last dish finds its place in the cabinet that Pema hears the choked off sound that indicates Lin is about three steps away from a full breakdown.
“She hates me,” Lin says thickly.
“Jinora. She can’t even stand to be in the same room.”
“Lin, you know she just gets caught up in her work sometimes. Why would you think that?”
“She knows, Pema.”
“What do you mean?”
“She knows. And she hates me for it.”
Lin’s implication clicks then.
“Oh,” Pema says, voice small, “How?”
“She saw us last night. But I think she’s had a hunch for a while, and we confirmed it.”
Pema steps into Lin’s space and pulls her into an embrace. Lin’s arms automatically rise to wrap around her, and they stay like that for several minutes while Lin lets silent tears soak into the shoulder of Pema’s robes.
“I don’t want to ruin your family,” she says once her throat no longer feels closed off and like she’d shatter it she tried to talk. “This is all my fault.”
“Lin, no.” Pema places a soft kiss on her cheek; Lin’s eyes close and she sighs, welcoming the contact. “There’s no fault or blame here. We’ll figure it out and talk to her, okay? She’ll come around.”
Or she won’t, Lin thinks, but doesn’t voice her worry. She’d already done enough damage for the day. She lets Pema pull her into bed early, and in the time it takes for Pema to wrangle the kids into their own beds, Lin falls asleep.
The days that follow are some of the most tense Lin has ever experienced despite over thirty years’ experience with RCPD. Jinora remains frosty enough that even Ikki and Meelo comment on her behavior around Lin, and Lin finds she has no easy explanation for them. Pema finds her on the couch late in the evening after a month has passed, trying and failing to read a book, and sets a pai sho board on the low table.
“You need to relax, Lin.”
“I am relaxed.”
Pema raises an eyebrow. “And I’m the Avatar. Come on, we need to talk.”
Lin almost refuses, but knows she’s right. As they set up the board and play their first tiles, Lin asks, “Would it be better if I left?”
“Spirits, no,” Pema says instantly, “I want you here. I need you here.”
“But I’ve destroyed anything I had with Jinora, and if she’s taken it this bad, I can’t imagine the others will be happy.”
“That’s what I wanted to talk about. We should tell them, but we should do it together. They know you’re important to me, and that we’re close, but we need to explain to them in what way.”
“Because letting them figure it out on their own will lead to more of…this.”
“Exactly. Oh, look, I’ve blocked your harmony.” Pema sounds entirely too pleased with herself, and Lin gives her a halfhearted scowl.
“I was distracted.” She plots her next move in silence, then asks, “So when do you want to break it to them?”
“Is tomorrow too soon? It’s your day off.”
“The sooner the better. I don’t want them to hate you for it, too.”
Lin feels the light steps of an airbender tread back up the hallway to Tenzin’s office after she and Pema fall silent, and hopes it means something that their conversation hadn’t been interrupted by another scathing comment.
Three days later, Lin is pulled from her focus on some paperwork by a gentle rapping on her makeshift office door. It’s really just the spare bedroom she used to sleep in, but she’s been sleeping more often than not in Pema’s bed for the past two weeks. The desk is pushed up against the window, allowing ample natural light to fall on her workspace at the expense of being able to face the door.
She doesn’t turn to look at Jinora, but she can feel the girl’s heartbeat racing through the stone beneath her feet. She pens a character onto the form in front of her, signs it, then picks up the next. Jinora steps into the room and stands awkwardly behind Lin, shifting her weight from side to side in an attempt to quell her anxiety.
“I’ve been unfair to you.“
Lin finishes the next form and sets her reading glasses aside. She rubs her forehead and sighs, then turns in her chair to face the girl. “And what makes you say that?”
“It’s selfish of me to not let Mom live her own life. I’ve been caught up so much in Dad’s life—“ she pauses to hold up a journal, one of her fingers stuck in between the pages to mark her place, “—that I forgot what was important.”
Lin doesn’t answer, but gestures toward the journal. Jinora opens it and reads aloud.
“If something were to happen to me, I could think of no one more suited to help them pick up the pieces than Lin. She will keep them safe, and they will help her heal. She has been there for me countless times, and I her, and I can only hope if this comes to pass that they will lean on each other.”
Jinora pauses to shut the journal. “I only found out reading this that he had nightmares after the Equalists captured us. He thought he might have to give up his life to protect us. And then I got lost in the Spirit Word, there’s some stuff about that.” Her voice cracks, and Lin thinks about reaching out for her. She refrains, but only just. Through just barely checked tears, Jinora continues, “But you’re in here, you’re always in here. He always wanted you to be a part of his life and family and he loved you like he loved Mom and if Mom loves you that same way then I’m the one who’s wrecking Dad’s memory by trying to drive you away.”
Lin rises to her feet before she fully realizes what she’s doing and wraps Jinora in a tight hug, allowing the girl to cry into her shirt. She apologizes over and over as Lin holds her. Pema pokes her head in after a moment, seemingly summoned by the sound of an upset child, and hurries to join them after she’s processed the scene. Jinora sobs harder when her mother hugs her too, and Pema murmurs, “Oh, honey, it’s all right. I’m here.”
“I’m sorry,” Jinora manages to squeak out, “I’m so sorry.”
“I know, kiddo,” Lin says, “I forgive you.”
Pema presses a kiss to the top of Jinora’s head as she lets out a final hiccup and wipes her eyes.
“We’ll work on this, okay? If you need to talk about things, Lin and I are here for you, and your aunt and uncle are too, if you’d rather talk to one of them.”
“Okay,” Jinora says, “I can do that.” She offers a small smile to Lin and her mother. “Thank you.”
“Always, kiddo.” Lin wraps her in another hug. “Always.”
kya's the type of person to either be super early to things bc of anxiety or super late bc she didn't feel like going
I think she perpetually runs just a tiny bit late to everything bc both of those blend together and cancel out
I love how Lin went “get the Avatar out of my city” to “I need to bring the Avatar back to the city bc I’m the only person I trust to protect her from assassins” and she was right
Of course she was right she’s Lin Beifong
And as much as she hates to admit it Korra and the rest of the krew really grow on her
Favorite Mako hc?
I’m a big sucker for momboss & detectiveson tbh
Favorite Suyin hc?
That she’s polyamorous & bi/pan!
I just think it makes sense.
Do you think Lin gives people nicknames? She was raised by the queen of sassy nicknames, so she could be really good at them. Or she hates them. Could go either way
Her nicknames are much less abrasive than Toph’s but she still hands them out to people who earn them
HCs for wedding gifts? I think Saikhan teams up with the lead healer at the hospital. Kya gets a blue "Mrs Chief" badge, and Lin gets a black/gold "Mrs Master Kya" badge.
And like the cheesy idiots they are they wear them
I think they probably ask people not give them extravagant gifts since they’re older and don’t really need any of the typical wedding gift type things.
Follow up escort AU. That was great! The ideas of what they get up to in secluded corners is enough to send my semi-public-smut-kink addicted brain reeling for the next few days <3 just one more thing that sprang into my mind, does Kya ever get jealous that she actually has to share Lin with other customers?
It’s a point of contention bc of some things that happen over the course of the plot. Once they (finally) get into a committed relationship Kya asks her to stop seeing her clients and Lin agrees aside from one single client who’s been a regular for as long as Lin’s been working and who Lin considers a genuine friend. If the main fic goes over well I may also write and post the optional sequel which goes into the story of said client in this AU bc there’s just SO much juicy drama there >:3c
