1) FIND OUT WHERE HE IS ON THE SCALE OF BEING READY FOR A REAL RELATIONSHIP
One of the reasons Red Tuesday is a real thing is because men get really scared of being cornered into something for which they’re not ready. If he’s not where he feels you are in your relationship, he’ll want to avoid any activity related to revealing his feelings by word, deed, or action. This demands that you eschew your feelings and rely on real data.
If a man you’re interested in scores as anything less than a Prospective Buyer or Bono Fide Buyer, he hasn’t made any decisions about committing to anything more than this moment. To put him in any position of having to face you on a day designated for professing/committing to love and romance is toying with a breakup down the road.
Best to nip things in the rosebud by being proactive rather than passive. Simply and confidently stating that you don’t feel the two of you are in any place of putting pressure on yourselves by celebrating Valentine’s Day, works like a charm! This will make him wonder about your feelings - a surefire strategy to raise his interest. As wonder is the way men love and fall in love, doing this will help you on the path to having his heart.
Do not discuss your resolve. Show him you’ve made your decision, smile about it and move forward like nothing is amiss. By your birthday or next Valentine’s Day if he’s not stepping forward with an engagement ring, time to move your life forward!
2) FORTIFY YOURSELF SO YOU DON’T FOLD
If the man you’re seeing scores as an Ultimate Consumer or Mixed-Messages Man, and you simply can’t bring yourself to follow through on tip #1, by stating your position, then you must be prepared to say no to a last-minute date. When he comes to you at the 11th-hour, tell him you have plans with your girls and then make yourself scarce. No texting, talking, nothing! Make him wonder who you might have met while out!
If you can’t get-it-up to be out with friends, then fortify yourself with a planned night at home with Netflix and Fritos. But no matter what, make sure to go off-the-grid. No communication with him whatsoever, otherwise, he knows he has your heart. Fair? No, but if you want to win favor and have his heart for the future, it’s a must!
3) FORGO THE GIFT
Contrary to what we’re fed by the media and marketing, Valentine’s Day is not a day that a woman gives a gift to a man. It doesn’t matter whether he’s going all-out or doing something on a small scale. It’s important that he knows you value yourself as a prize, so do no more than make a gesture with a token gift. A cupcake with a heart, his favorite candy bar with a bow, or a lottery ticket with a post-it saying “I know you’re a lucky guy!” Keep it light and flirty unless you’re engaged or married. Doubting? Think about Valentine’s Day as the romantic equivalent of Mother’s Day for a woman. Mom doesn’t give a gift to others, she is the recipient!
4) FIGHT THE URGE TO FILM AND FOTO
‘Gotta put your phone on hold should you want to progress with your man.
Photoing and posting pics of the two of you display your feelings about him. DDDAs (digital displays of affection) before he’s made a decision to make you “the one,” make him uneasy and question being with you. He doesn’t want you spreading the word publicly until he has made his decision to do so.
If you start snapping away, he knows you’re sending those shots to friends or worse: putting them up on your social media. That can do serious damage on Valentine’s Night - an evening he takes seriously. Don’t seriously damage your chances for something long-term by deflating his desire with nothing more than a flash.
If HE is clicking on his camera, then great, but you can’t. Showing him this night is off-limits to anyone but the two of you makes you special. Remember that you are the prize and the prize doesn’t ever have to display itself to all, or any!
5) FOCUS ON THE FUTURE
If you aren’t feeling the love come your way this Valentine’s Day, focusing on what you want next year helps to free your mind and heart. Time to think less about finding “the one,” and more about manifesting love for yourself and your journey to love.
