Theory: Jouno is not blind.
Hear me out.
First off, it was never explicitly stated that Jouno was blind. It was just assumed, since Jouno had never opened his eyes.
Second of all, he knew what colors were. It was obvious, since he was insulting Tecchou for mixing food based on their colors alone.
Finally, he knew what pictures are. I first noticed this when he rolled out a map. He shouldn’t have known what was the right way to place it, yet he placed it on the table correctly. Now, I understand this might be because of anime inaccuracies (*cough* Ranpo *cough*), but then he pointed at certain locations. Certain locations that matched what he was saying, which shouldn’t have been right. The next time I noticed this, it was when he was in the cafe, interrogating the manager. During his interrogation, he pulled out a picture of Lucy. How the actual hell did he know that that was a picture of Lucy? Why was he, of all people, holding a photo? What, did someone give him the picture and tell him “That’s Lucy Montgomery”? I highly doubt his colleagues would do that to an actual disabled character (what kind of douchebag does that?).
So why are his eyes closed? Why hasn’t he opened them? I think it’s because of his ability.
One of my theories is that maybe, his eyes are too sensitive because of his ability.
But to me, the much more interesting scenario is that he keeps his eyes closed to activate his ability. I mean, considering that Fukuzawa’s ability is oddly specific, and Yosano’s require her patients to be half-dead before she can treat them, the thought shouldn’t be so far off. Maybe, his ability can only be activated if he keeps his eyes close, which is why he always has his eyes closed, even in a moderately-lit environment like the cafe.
So, for me, Jouno is definitely not blind. I personally think that he keeps his eyes closed at all times, so he could always have his ability ready. It was just a habit formed from his work.
If anyone can discredit this, please do. I will gladly accept criticism for this idea, especially if it is actually wrong.
This is what I come up with late at night, when I’m staring at my pillow and wondering, how the hell did Jouno know what Lucy even looked like?)
This is my theory. I don’t own the characters nor the the pictures. All of them are belonging to Kafka Asagiri and Sango Harukawa.
At the end of chapter 87 we saw that Fukushi slashed Akutagawa’s neck, but is he actaullay dead?
In the chapter 83.5 Fukuchi slashed Ranpo too. Then Ranpo opened Poe’s book “10,001 Shelters” and he transported himself into it. This book must be in Atsushi’s hands now
If this is true, then during Fukuchi was attacking Akutawaga, Atsushi could have open the book and transport him inside. Of course, Fukuchi’s space-time sword would bring him back, maybe before the slashing of Akutagawa’s neck. So, once again, Akutagawa will not be dead.
But, that is just a theory.
It’s Ranpo day!!
Let me talk about something I realised while watching Dead Apple.
Shibusawa Tatsuhiko says that no one has surpassed his expectations yet, no one has been able to fight their own abilities and claim it back by winning.
According to the sequence of events depicted in the movie.
Akutagawa defeated Rashoumon before anyone else in Yokohama defeated their abilities.
Doesn’t that mean Akutagawa is the first gifted ever to surpass their own ability?
