I know hating Marinette is a hobby for some people here but like she wasn’t in the wrong. Based on what we saw in the latest gloob trailer Marinette did absolutely nothing wrong. From privious trailer we also know that she does come back there once she collects all the other miraculous.
She was absolutely right. She was almost out of time and Chat was wasting her time whether you like it or not. And even though he offered to collect miraculous, and he thought he was offering to help he really wasn’t. She was right. She really didn’t have time to explain everything to him at that moment.
Marinette did absolutely nothing wrong. Chat is the one who misunderstood things and took it too personally.
Y’all went hard for Free Brittany over conservatorship now do the same for Nichelle
So I read the entire thing, and this one is slightly more complex than “dad is abusive conservator.” So I’m going to lay out here what’s going on:
1) Nichelle has dementia.
2) In 2010, this guy approached her all “hey so I want to make this movie with you as a costar, very good contract, please accept.”
3) she did.
4) he was lying.
5) during the next several years he moved onto her property and became a squatter, billing all his utilities and expenses to Nichelle. In other words, she’s paying for the privilege of him using her property.
6) during this time he also managed to get her to give him power of attorney over both financial AND MEDICAL decisions. Much of her savings has just kind of vanished, and it seems likely he’s been leeching it away.
Okay. So, recap: this guy is NOT a conservator. He got power of attorney, which is actually a very good and useful thing when appropriately applied. (Basically, it means if you become incapacitated you’ve already selected a person to handle certain kinds of affairs for you.) In this case, however, it’s pretty clear POA is being abused and seriously misused.
7) Nichelle’s son managed to become her conservator, with the goal of kicking the deadbeat off the property and ensuring his mom has access to her hard-earned funds so she can be old with dignity. (In a perfect world, this is how conservatorship would always be used. His interest is in protecting the person, not making a profit.) He has become her primary caretaker.
I don’t know how advanced Nichelle’s dementia is, but I can tell you from experience that as the disease progresses, being a caretaker can become a full-time job, and that, yes—this is one of those extremely limited cases where conservatorship might actually be a good idea. My grandmother had Alzheimer’s (not all dementia is caused by Alzheimer’s, but all cases of Alzheimer’s are dementia), and nearly burned down the house once because she turned on the stove, forgot she’d turned it on, and went to take a nap. Having someone of sound mind who can make arrangements for things like appropriate in-home care so this doesn’t happen is deeply important.
8) deadbeat is fighting to get conservatorship removed—and possibly reassigned to himself. That part is a little less clear. What is clear is that he does not have Nichelle’s best interests at heart.
9) this fundraiser is to help with legal fees to get deadbeat off the property and help assist Nichelle and her son in securing what’s left of her assets.
So just so we’re clear: in this case we are actually fighting FOR a conservatorship. However, this conservatorship is to protect someone with an actual medical diagnosis that means she has diminished mental capacity to care for herself (literally, that’s what dementia is: loss of memory and cognition on a scale significant enough to interfere with daily life), and to ensure that what is hers, REMAINS hers.
Reblogging this version for the commentary, since people seem to be unclear about the situation.
Something I have seen very few people mention re: Omicron and the current surge:
Please, be cautious. Not just about the virus but about life in general.
Babes, now is not the time to get on the rickety ladder to change that light bulb or tackle that woodworking project using the bandsaw.
Let it freaking go.
Clinics and hospitals are overrun. You don’t want to need urgent or emergent care right now, my loves. You may not get it. Please be unreasonably cautious around your homes.
Please reblog this, just to remind everyone that any source of medical risk is also now a COVID risk.
I just reblogged this but reblogging again to add that I went to the ER in late Nov right when Omicron started being an issue. (I thought I was having a heart attack. I wasn’t but I’m still glad I went.) Y’all when I tell you I was in the ER for 8 hours and that ¾ of that was spent in the waiting room I am not in the least bit exaggerating.
Again just in case that didn’t sink in:
I went to the ER complaining of heart attack symptoms and spent 6 hours in the waiting room.
I wasn’t having a heart attack. I knew that before I got out of the ambulance. But there was one (1) doctor on call for the entire waiting room AND urgent care. They just,,, didn’t have rooms, didn’t have beds. The poor staff were dealing with doubly as many people in the ER/UC as I’ve ever seen, most of them insisting their thing was most important. I felt so bad being there at all.
It’s not that the staff don’t care. It’s that there’s not enough of them. Many of them are out with covid themselves. Many more have quit due to burn out. It’s not that they don’t want to give you the care you need, it’s that’s they’re overwhelmed.
Don’t be a hero. And as much as you can, do not be careless. The ER is a nightmare zone right now and it’s not getting better any time soon.
Broke: I hate my coworkers so I won’t bother organizing with them
Woke: leftist praxis is run on class lines, not on “a club for people you like” lines. Let the assholes into the union
Bespoke: perhaps people are substituting lefty praxis spaces for social clubs because they don’t have social clubs any more and politics is how they justify their need for human connection. Solidarity feels GOOD and people conflate that with a club for feeling good, which it’s not but bears a slight resemblance to. What I’m saying is we need a union meeting AND bowling

This is not “oh my gosh, how do our bosses not understand that the culture before was modeled after being in prison, and that it stifled innovation?”
They knew that. That was the entire point. The workplace culture was like that on purpose, and absolutely intended to keep us busy and miserable, because there are more of us than there are of them, and the last time the working population was aware of that, bosses were forced to make major concessions.
Our previous workplace culture made no fucking sense to continue for as long as it did. We’ve known for decades that the 8-hr workday is not effective, that cubicles destroy morale, and that “lean staffing” is bullshit designed to keep the bosses rich while causing massive burnout to everyone else. More recent is the knowledge that they could afford to double their workforce AND sharply increase everyone’s salary and benefits and still make astronomical profit, but that they won’t, solely out of greed.
But our bosses always said, “well okay, maybe that One Study said this was bad… but there’s Just No Other Way, and even if there was, we can’t implement it! Oh no, things just have to stay the same!”
….until the pandemic forced a change.
Rather than completely grind to a halt and make $0, bosses implemented radical, sweeping changes, and they did it FAST.
And their lies have fucking fallen apart.
We can work from home, and we’re just as efficient- if not more so.
Wearing jeans, t-shirts, and even pajamas or no pants at all does not affect the quality of our work.
Since plenty of us are at home, and “stepping away from the desk” more often than managers would typically allow, we now know that actually, yeah- we can get all of our tasks done in 4-5 hours instead of 8.
Not every meeting needs to be in person. Not every meeting even needs to be a meeting- a lot of them can be emails.
…all those lies our bosses told us have been revealed to be ash, falsehoods to preserve the status quo. Their system of power that was broken beyond repair has been un-glamoured. We see it for what it really is.
…which is why our bosses want us to return to it ASAP.
Because we’re aware now that it’s broken, but we haven’t truly started to fight back yet.
We can see that the structure is essentially held together with sticks and spit, but no one’s given it a good kick yet.
They want us back under their thumb before we get a chance to remember what our greatest weapon is and use it against them.
Hint: it’s unions. It’s organization. It’s dignity, and knowing that we deserve it, and collectively deciding that we’re not going to put up with less. Unions, and collective bargaining, and strikes, have the power to completely dismantle the system, and they know it…
They want to returns us to the system that burns us out, because for the first time in decades, we’re not just smoldering coals anymore- we have a spark. And motivation to fan it into flames.
Nurture that spark, y’all. Unionize.
The fact that they’re fighting so hard to destroy our unions is bad news…and it’s good news because that means they’re that scared of us, that we’ve gotten this far and have only just begun to fight.
the transgender experience of seeing a fictional character undergo an extremely painful but rapid transformation like growing and twisting into an enormous wolflike beast or having wings burst bloodily from their back and going god i wish that were me
the desire to not just change but be transformed into something else that is visibly different but still you. the need for that change to be something undeniable that you cannot simply look away from or pretend to ignore.
Can’t believe Inside Job straight up killed Jeff Bezos with a kraken and made fun of him. They didnt change his name they didn’t change his appearence they just went for it idk how they haven’t been sued
Parent Trap but Gritty and the Lorax try to reunite Tony & the Grinch
Everytime I see this thread show up on my dash it’s in more depth and more developed. I didn’t think we could reach these levels of insanity but here we are.
buddy have you SEEN my tags:
#also the Lorax has ‘the’ in front of their name just like The Grinch so it’s a family thing #WAIT WAIT WAIT #this implies that after the breakup the Grinch raised the Lorax while Tony raised Gritty. Tony the Cereal Sports Mascot raised Gritty the Hockey Mascot. this makes Complete Sense #Grinch likes solitude and nature and hates waste and commercialism–traits passed onto the Lorax #Tony is obnoxiously extroverted and loves sports and is a Famous Pop Cultural Mascot. Gritty followed in his father’s footsteps…
Khan Academy is one of the only tools that was accesible for me as a poor teenager trying to study for the PSATs, SATs, AP classes, and even my college calculus classes.
The amount of care and attention that goes into their videos, how attentive they are to user feedback and etc. is just not something that I’ve experienced with other learning organizations. They don’t ostracize you for learning differently and they incorporate their tutorials in a way that gives you visual and auditory instruction, as well as plenty of practice and etc.
really worthwhile resource and it would be an absolute shame if they were to shutter.
Also can I just say. Some people really need to get it through their dumb thick skulls that racial minorities who immigrated to mostly white countries are going to have perspectives and opinions on things that the folks in their countries of origin might not. Like the morons on my yellowface post who were like “um well Japanese people in Japan don’t care, it’s always the Japanese americans who say shit about it” like yeah? Obviously? Asian folks living in a country where they’re the racial majority are far less likely to be subjected to the same kind of racism/propaganda/caricatures etc. that Asian people in mostly white countries are. Like I cannot for the life of me think of any valid justification for thinking “well it’s the IMMIGRANTS who have a problem with it so clearly it isn’t an actual issue” how about you shut up
