a brief introduction to another setting…
well, the universe is still the same, but there is different timeline.
in the nineties, Jude and company had their own
plot, and now I introduce you to the comrades from the seventies. generally, this is a prequel to some events that occur in Jude’s story.
in particular, I’ll focus on the Strikers club.
the club opened in the 60s and soon became popular among the elite of show business and ordinary people. at that time, it could even be called one of the attractions of Miami. The club existed only in Florida.
and everything was good until the energy crisis of the seventies hit the USA.
and since gasoline became more expensive, tourists became a rare thing. but not only tourists, even the residents began to disperse. the club wasn’t doing well… and not only it: the Miami Maddox mafia family began to lose its power. then Tristan, son of the boss of family, decides to seize the initiative and regain power thst his father lost.
he buys out already then relatively cheap Strikers and turns them into a franchise. but mafia always brings new problems.
Tristan is a typical representative of the Golden youth. spoiled, bad-tempered, twitchy young man would hardly have had success in society, if not for his status. despite all this, he is quite charming, and therefore has connections with many stars, including rising movie star Charlene Bernard. in a sense, he is a media personality himself.
Angelo has been working for the Maddox family for a long time: he used to follow Tristan’s father around, but now he follows Tristan himself. of course, with psychotic Tristan, as you can guess, it’s more problematic.
a former soldier, he is very disciplined and at first glance taciturn, but if you manage to find contact with him, you will find that he is quite a nice person. although he works for the mafia. happens.
Ricardo is a retired detective. the reason for this are problems with alcohol and mental health. once one of the best, he now spends most of his time either in his car or in bars or at the races. if not for his old friend Cynthia, who looks after him, he would have died long ago.
but if you were a cop once, you’ll be a cop forever. Ricardo had been a Strikers club habitue before the hard times. and as soon as the Maddox bought them, Ricky knew it wouldn’t do any good, and his innate curiosity got him into trouble.
Oscar Golice is quite a big name in the bookmaker business. he made a fortune betting on the races, and, believe me, a lot of people want him dead. but while he is alive, he will drive around in expensive cars and charm everyone with his charisma.
and though Oscar keeps aloof from the main Miami “party” (including the same Maddox and Charlene), he knows surprisingly much about their insides. there are no better informant, but he wouldn’t cooperate for money – why, if he already has it? surprise him, and maybe then he will let you out of the gate of his cottage, which hides the second life of the city.

Aurelia Burn, known as Lia to her friends, is a bored girl from Kansas that dreams every day of her house being taken to the land of wizards, otherwise she swears she will die right here and it will probably be the most interesting event in her life (or death?). her place of residence is a small apartment in the same small town which she shares with her cousin Mickey Balter, as she can not afford the rent herself. Mickey and she have their own little shop with vinyl records but visitors are few – there’s no one interested in music.
by a happy coincidence, one day Clint got to their local college and if Clint is in the city he will shake up its inhabitants no matter what.
and he of course got interested in the small business of Lia, he often came to them until he was expelled from the college. he didn’t tell about this to his mother and begged Lia to hire him. She figured he might be able to help them with the ad and agreed.
Clint moved in next to them, became their neighbor and the whole year that he spent in Kansas he still remembers with nostalgia, even though he was almost cut off from the outside world.
Lia was an important part of his life, she has had on impact on him, and when he had to go back to Colorado he could not find the right words to say goodbye.
by the way, it was Lia who gave him the green shirt he never gets out of.
Monica is somewhat a big sister figure – it is not that scary to take risks while you are together since you always know that she will remain calm and sure will come up with something if you suddenly reach a stalemate.
however, she herself may accidentally become the cause of this risk, so she’s not only a “sister” but also a “daughter”, a teenager with an infinite puberty in terms of briskness and some naivety, not quite obvious,
but playing an important role in her relationships with people.
still, she’s the soul of the company. wherever she is, she makes you feel comfortable, like you’ve known her forever.
if some children at that time wanted to be president or a Jedi, Jude had a strange desire to be a member of the Mariachi band with all the accompanying romance and cool clothes (this is important!), even though he could neither sing nor even play the instrument.
when they lived in Juarez, father took the children to the festival where they viewed various performances and they so impressed Jude that he without hesitation would call that day the best thing in his life as it is when he really felt happy.
he would not have minded to put on an elegant uniform and go to sing cielito lindo on the street, if he had not been forced to hide from the eyes of the public.
and well, I decided to paint him in that image, if he would chose that way. perhaps he would have been much happier.
