This is gonna be a birthday Clare will never forget.
People watching was the most fun ever. It showed Sadie other sides of people she wouldn’t be shown normally. She had taken a special liking to stalking— rather, watching Adrian. Sometimes he did weird things with his hands, or he said something that he normally wouldn’t, or did something really cute that he would never do in front of her because he may have thought it wasn’t cool or whatever. Like speaking in some foreign language that Sadie only took as humorous gibberish or walking into walls.
“What the fuck kind of language is that?” Sadie laughed as she toppled out from her hiding place. “Sounds like gibberish to me. Oh! Maybe you speak fairy! Is that it?”
Adrian had a habit of walking or running into walls, and it had everything to do with being distracted easily with whatever was on his mind. Rather it be thinking about how cute a girl was, to his research, it didn’t usually matter. If there was more than one subject on his mind, he was probably going to run into a wall that day.
He didn’t very well like it being pointed out to him, and he very much wasn’t fond of his mother tongue being taunted at either. Rather it was a cute girl doing so or not.
“Sadie, your behavior astounds me, and not in a good way.” He fixed his shirt, and ran the back of his hand across the bottom of his nose to make sure it wasn’t bleeding. He lost count of how many times he hurt his nose from running into a wall.
“I was speaking Arabic.” He informed her sternly, avoiding looking at her.
Maybe it was weird that he had the occasional moment where he would talk in Arabic to himself. Maybe it was kind of creepy too— Adrian hadn’t seen any problem with it when he was in Egypt.
He assumed this was different though. He was in Egypt, this was America. Adrian was very aware of some of the stares he received, and first arriving in America, he was deeply confused by this, but figured it out relatively quickly (relatively quickly being his father told him).
Why was this brought up? Because it was what he was doing while walking through the Brooklyn House.
Adrian was actually just resiting some of the things he had to do for Imogene and some of the things he had planned for that day. So really, it was the normal day occurrence stuff he was resiting.
“أولا، لا بد لي من معرفة ما إذا كان لديهم مهما كان الجحيم أختي أراد.” He spoken in a very mellow way, but his accent deep and rich like someone born from the mother lands of France.
“ثم يجب أن أذهب معرفة ما إذا كان لديه كتاب كارتر أردت أن الاقتراض،,” he paused thinking about anything else, “وبعد معرفة ما إذا كان سادي ترغب في شنق.” There was nothing else for him to do besides that, smiling to himself, he walked forward, walking straight into a wall in the process.
“ اللعنة ” He cursed, rubbing his nose.
She turned back to her iPod. “That’s Carter you’re looking for, then, sweetheart. All I do is point and shoot. Carters the one who obsesses over connections to the gods and shit.”
He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly at the comment.
“Well, you could still have an artifact with you..I mean, you are one of the teachers.”

Oh, Gods, had the lie been too see-through? No, he wasn’t giving her the ‘I know you’re lying’ look. So…was he just zoning out. Well, if he was, Alyx sure wasn’t going to disturb him. She followed close behind him, though, not wanting to get lost. That had happened before and it was pretty scary, to be truthful.
She did manage to get a good look at some other things in the building, a few of them were a little…odd. Things she hadn’t seen in other museums, but who was she to judge?
Adrian did that a lot. He would zone out at the more random times to think about whatever the person had said through. There were many reasons why it happened, one being when he was in disbelief of something but had no reason not to believe them. That had been one of those moments. He didn’t focus too much on it to zone out completely, thankfully, so he just put the thought aside as he escorted her to the Greek section.
He wasn’t fond of coming in this area, but he often did so when people were lost, or wanted a tour guide. Being a tour guide was not as cool as he originally thought. People yelled at you, or interrupted you, really he couldn’t understand why some Americans were so rude. If he had been that rude at that age, his mother would’ve disciplined him to where he’d never do it again.
Making his way inside the exhibit he froze for a minute. This is where he got lost, he knew he was in the right area, but he wasn’t sure where the artifact was. Awkwardly he turned to hurt all out ready to admit his confusion.
“Um..do you happen to know where it was placed with? Excavating it and all, I’m sure you got that information, correct?”
She had to think quickly, coming up with a lie that would suffice. “I helped uncover and collect the artifacts. Plus, I’m kind of an expert on them. I’ll know.” Alyx smiled and tucked a piece of teal hair behind her ear. “You know, a little guidance would be nice.”
“I see.” He nodded, thinking about the words carefully. He wasn’t too sure when the artifacts were discovered exactly, but he’d believe it. He’d met people around his age who had helped discover some of the artifacts here.
“Guidance?” He questioned, becoming a bit lost for a moment in his thoughtful daze. It registered a bit late, and as a tiny blush showed he nodded. “Right, um, it’s uh..this way.” he replied pointing to an opening that was connect to the room they were currently in.
“Um… well she’s a little shorter than me, looks kinda like a model student. She’s a darker than me, and has this annoyed expression on her face.”
Well that was certainly helpful. “I’m gonna need a bit more description than that.”
“Pity,” She shrugged. “Y’know, this be the moment in which ya give yer name. ‘S only good form.”
“Um..I did. I was waiting for you to introduce yourself..” He replied a little uneasy.
Alyx raised an eyebrow and looked over at the boy that had spoken. “Well, it looks like there might be a few promising artifacts from one of the temples of Poseidon. That’s all I’m interested in. And if they’re fake, I’ll know.”
He shifted a bit where he stood, showing a bit of interest in her comment. “Poseidon..hm..well I work as a volunteer here, if you’d like I can take you to the casing. Might I ask on how you would know?”
“Damn dude, yer all kinds o’ familiar. Despite the fact I ain’t never seen ya before now.”
“Me name’s Lou Ellen,” said she. “Can I ask ya a question, bub?” Without waiting for his answer, his yes or his no, she ploughed on: “Ya wouldn’t happen t’ know a dude named Sean Ryan, righ’?”
“Um..no. Not that I can recall.”
“Well, tha’s good then, isn’t it? ‘Cause ‘m not here t’ hurt ya either,” Lou told him. “Wha’s ya name then, fella?” The blonde ran a hand through her hair afterwards, messing up her blonde tresses even more.
“Uhh..yeah.” He was having a bit of trouble following what she was saying, but getting the concept all together.
“Adrian, and you are..?”
Adrian stared up at the building in disbelief as well. A look of discomfort over his expressions. What had got them to even come to this point in time was simple—- They had to get an artifact and bring it back to the Brooklyn House. The thought made the dark haired male uneasy, but he accepted it none the less, and even though he didn’t exactly know Walt well, it didn’t he was sort of happy it hadn’t been just him.
“Yes, unfortunately.” He spoke, his accent becoming a bit more thick with his nerves. “So, do you have a plan?”
Percy knew he sort of messed up, it wasn’t completely broken, at most slightly chipped. The punk felt a little bit bad—- okay no, he only regretted his action because set off this guy here. Who apparently felt the need to scold him like he was a child. Pft, please, he gets enough of that from his friends, and mom. Who was you know, his mother, and gets to scold him like that.
Essentially, he had tuned the other out, but he got the jest of what the guy was saying. So he fidgeted with his piercing, a tug or two, then resorted to clicking his tongue up against the roof of his mouth.
“Got it, ancient thing was important, and that tiny chip totally ruined the whole thing. Take some deep breaths dude.”
Okay, so he maybe overreacting a bit, but he was the son of an archeologist and anthropologist, of course he was going to overreact to something like this. Especially since he sort of wants to follow in their foot steps.
“You broke half of the hieroglyph, not only that but the part that chipped is in little pieces.” He was being melodramatic, but maybe this whole thing was because he had had a bad day? His sister was being a brat (like usual) and he had just ran into someone who initially pissed him off (that wasn’t Percy). So really, he was letting his frustrations out on Percy, which wasn’t right, but he couldn’t help it. He wasn’t even sure if the artifact was from the time he assumed, it just gave him a reason to be angry.
After about a minute, he calmed down a bit. Most of his frustration was out of his system. Yes he was still angry at Percy for this, but the artifact had already been somewhat damaged, he was surprised some of it was still together. Walking over to the broken object, he bent down and looked at the chipped off rock.
"I apologize for overreacting a bit..but this was important. Rather it was for what I said or not. If it has nothing to do with 3100 BC, it still has value to other time lines.“ He spoke calmly standing up and looking at Percy. "Think about it from my point of view. What if I were to break something that you treasured more than anything in this entire world? Yes, this object isn’t exactly mine, but I do prefer it to be safe.”

“Motherfrick—” started the blonde. “Easy on the reins, mate! I ain’t accusing ya o’ no shite! Relax yer arse! I ain’t here t’ harm yer face. Nor do I hope yer here fer tha’.”
He gave her an confused expression before just ignoring the first half of that sentence. “I’m not here to hurt you. Anyway, you approached me.”

I’m sorry guys. I’m gonna get off so my laptop can cool and I can ignore the self harm thoughts I’m getting. I’ll be on after my laptop is done cooling.
She shot Adrian a quizzical look which almost came off as if he had dropped from Mars. “Why would I have an artifact…?”
He froze at the look, thinking about the question, he shrugged. “Because it could hold some kind of value relating to the gods?” He tried, feeling like that excuse wouldn’t cut it, but hey, he’ll see how far he gets with it.
“Sadie, do you have the artifact from one of the museums I was examining?”
