learning more and more about ciris childhood has lead me to one conclusion and its we need to give ciri a gun
Actually, I think girls in middle school and high school should still feel comfortable having fuzzy pillows and lava lamps and glitter pens and sequin tops and a colorful wardrobe and whatever else they think is pretty or cool. Maybe we shouldn’t, like, try to beat the personality and life out of the youngsters, neither should we expect them to act like anything other than their actual age.
One of my favorite themes in Final Fantasy X is how toxic masculinity destroys men’s capacities to be good fathers. Jecht does love Tidus, but he never really did anything to show Tidus that. He was always emotionally closed off to him and he tried to condition his son to be the same way. Right before their final battle, when he’s seeing Tidus for the first time in 10 years, Jecht can only bring himself to say the most basic kinda but not really compliments (’You got tall, you’ve really grown’). Not even a simple ‘I love you’ or ‘I’m proud of you’ or ‘I know you can do this’.
Another thing is that it showcases how complicated the relationship between a lot of kids and their abusive parents are. Tidus resents Jecht and has every right to. He wants so badly to remove himself from Jecht in every way possible, especially emotionally, but he can’t. Because at times he also wants to get closer, and that is paralleled beautifully by Tidus following in his father’s footsteps to become a guardian and fighting Jecht as Sin. When they finally meet Jecht right before the battle with Sin, Tidus tells Jecht he hates him, but he’s very half-hearted about it. Then when Jecht is falling backward, Tidus runs after him while looking distressed, which also parallels his whole journey.
I also love how despite being conditioned by his father to be ashamed of his emotions, Tidus chooses to be openly emotional anyway? I just love how at least in this way, he managed to break away from Jecht’s hurtful legacy.
internet users could benefit from regular reminders that the comment sections on complete strangers’ positive posts about their life or relationship with their parents aren’t an appropriate place for you to vent about your traumas or say stuff like “must be nice having parents that love you”
I think new computers should just come with the Office suite. I think that should be a universal right.
things that we have to get from our school/job that we should get for free instead:
- health insurance
- Microsoft Office

Early in the year 279 AC, Rhaegar Targaryen, Prince of Dragonstone, was formally betrothed to Princess Elia Martell, the delicate young sister of Doran Martell, Prince of Dorne. They were wed the following year, in a lavish ceremony at the Great Sept of Baelor in King’s Landing, but Aerys II did not attend. He told the small council that he feared an attempt upon his life if he left the confines of the Red Keep, even with his Kingsguard to protect him. Nor would he allow his younger son, Viserys, to attend his brother’s wedding.
When Prince Rhaegar and his new wife chose to take up residence on Dragonstone instead of the Red Keep, rumors flew thick and fast across the Seven Kingdoms. Some claimed that the crown prince was planning to depose his father and seize the Iron Throne for himself, whilst others said that King Aerys meant to disinherit Rhaegar and name Viserys heir in his place. Nor did the birth of King Aerys’s first grandchild, a girl named Rhaenys, born on Dragonstone in 280 AC, do aught to reconcile father and son. When Prince Rhaegar returned to the Red Keep to present his daughter to his own mother and father, Queen Rhaella embraced the babe warmly, but King Aerys refused to touch or hold the child and complained that she “smells Dornish.“
