The system is not broken, it was built this way.
Today is an extremely important day in history. Although the slaves were emancipated on January 1, 1863, they did not know it till General Granger rode into Galveston, Texas on June the 19th, 1865. This should really be a federal holiday.
On this day in 1865, slaves in Texas were notified by Union Civil War soldiers about the abolition of slavery. This was two and a half years after President Lincoln issued the final Emancipation Proclamation which freed all enslaved Black Americans. Juneteenth was the celebration of the freed slaves in Texas and now we recognize it as a celebration of the freedom of enslaved African Americans across the USA. I personally think it makes a lot more sense for us to recognize this day as opposed to recognizing July the 4th. July 4th commemorates America’s freedom from England, but African Americans were not free on that day and would not be legally freed for another one hundred years. So Happy Juneteenth!

Please educate yourselves about what racism really is before claiming you are a victim to it.
The racism black, African and POC have been suffering from consists more than just slur words, jokes, and stereotypes, these are just the tip of the ice berg to much deeper issues.
To understand these deeper issues we must start from the root, which is the past.
( before yelling “get over the past” understand that the *past is the foundation on which the present and the future are built on*)
1. The U.S. economy was built on the exploitation and occupational segregation of people of color, Fact.
For centuries, Black people were enslaved and forced to work in brutal conditions as agricultural, domestic, and service workers. By some estimates, slaveholders extracted more than $14 trillion worth of labor, in today’s dollars, from their captives.
While many government policies and institutional practices helped create this system, the legacies of slavery, Jim Crow, and the New Deal—as well as the limited funding and scope of anti-discrimination agencies—are some of the biggest contributors to inequality in America.
Together, these policy decisions concentrated workers of color in chronically undervalued occupations, institutionalized racial disparities in wages and benefits, and perpetuated employment discrimination. As a result, stark and persistent racial disparities exist today, in jobs, wages, benefits, and almost every other measure of economic well-being.
It was the foundation of the economic injustice against black people today! a system that ties down black people from better opportunities to acquire success and wealth. #racism
But this is only one piece of a much broader issue that consists of not only economic injustice, but also Systematic and institutionalized social and political oppression.
Knowledge is power! don’t be defensive, be willing to get uncomfortable. Remember cange is never comfortable.
