GOD I just want to be CREATIVE but all my energy is being used to survive
as a genderfluid person: can we please stop saying ‘lady loki’ as is she’s a separate character because it’s fluidphobic.
i’m talking just generally, because i’ve seen it for years and with the loki series being out more people are talking about loki again, naturally, and when people say ‘loki or lady loki’ it just… i’m not a different person when i’m another gender, and neither is loki. to quote loki “i’m always me”. i’m not damien when i feel male and ‘lady damien’ when i feel female. it’s just fluidphobic to act like they’re two different characters.
and full credit to starofasgard on twitter for also making this point in an excellent thread on twitter talking about fluidphobia in the wake of loki being canonically genderfluid in the mcu
and as for any reveal in the loki series, can we just called her loki. please. unless we’re proven that she has a different name. she doesn’t need to be ‘lady loki’ she can just be ‘loki’.
there are no problems with other characters addressing loki ‘my lady’ or using the word ‘lady’ in context of the title. saying ‘that’s what loki calls themselves’ is incorrect as loki used that title when possessing sif’s body, which is not our current comic or mcu loki and again the word was being used as a title then just like ‘prince loki’. i won’t take the argument that people want to use it as a title when no one says ‘lord loki’ (and if we’re going to be that technical then his proper title would be prince/princess anyway) we all know what you mean when you say ‘lady loki’ is ‘female loki’ / ‘girl loki’.
tdlr: referring to loki when they are identifying/presenting as female as ‘lady loki’ is fluidphobic as it’s assuming that loki’s default gender is male. it also implies the gender presentation and gender identity are the same thing, that if loki is ‘looking female’ they must be female in this instance. it says that if loki’s body currently has breasts and a vulva they must be female right now, which is beyond fluidphobic, that’s just generally transphobic/enbyphobic.
some well deserved rest for a god that’s had a very long week.
i just love this scene, this shot, it looked like a painting. so i redrew it but changed mobius so he’s fondly looking at loki because i’m soft. and i’ve fallen for both of them very hard, and their relationship whether platonic or romantic.
and also because i hope some of you are soft this is also available as a print on my etsy shop. in case anyone’s interested. my etsy shop is emptymasks, link can be found in my bio and in the source for this post. as if i didn’t already have over 10 items for the loki series i already put up in my shop because i have a problem help me.

I don’t know who cares about this, but I really want to point something out of this second episode.
The Pompeii scene, more precisely, Loki speaking Latin.
The serie is fully of perfectly crafted details and, being a latin student, I wanted to talk about this.
The latin you hear Loki speaking is historically correct, and I am not talking about the grammar, but the pronunciation.
There are two pronunciations of the latin language: the classic, also known “restituta”, and the ecclesiastic.
The ecclesiastic pronunciation is so called because it bloomed from the spreading of Christianity, it’s considered the traditional pronunciation and it’s usually the one they teach you in school, so the most common, but it’s not the one used by Romans.
Romans talked with the classic or “restituta” pronunciation, which presents differences reguarding some specific consonants or group of letters.
The most common example is that the name “Cicero”, which you would read in the ecclesiastic pronunciation with a “c” that sounds like an “s”, was pronounced by Romans as “Kikero”.
Or, for example, the letter “v” was always pronounced as “u”.
And I am telling you this because Loki, in the serie, speaks with a “restituta” or classic pronunciation, that is historically correct.
You might overlook this, saying he should speak every language in the world due go the Allspeak or All-Tongue, but we are shown in the scene of the Gobi desert it’s not like that.
So, the fact that Loki actually knows Latin and the correct Latin pronunciation from the era he was in, as a latin student, really makes me happy.
I would like to thank whoever cured this detail, because they did a marvelous job.
Gather round my children as it’s time for a Latin lesson!
(I was also positively surprised by the use of the restituta pronunciation and that’s probaby why I picked on the words so quickly.)
Preliminary notes: the destruction of Pompei happened in 79 AD meaning during the century of August. If you look at all the public buildings in the city (thermals, theatres, temples), Pompei does not look like a countryside town. So you might assume it was some good Latin spoken there. That being said, let’s get into it! (Disclaimer: I never learned Latin with English terms so the technical terms might be off and I’m sorry for that.)
Mihi nomen est Loki = My name is Loki
(Please note how Hiddleston pronounced the H in mihi.) He forgot to decline his name but it sounds weird enough and the structure is clear enough that people understood.Note the use of “mihi” (of me) and not “meus” (my) because that’s meant to be a possessive structure/construction: you don’t say “my name is” you say “I have as a name.”
Praefectus Consilií ad témpus mutándem = (He/This is) prefect of the Council for the changing times
Loki is pointing at Mobius. As always when there’s no ambiguity, the “est” (is) is implied (here, the pointing + use of a masculin singular name in the subject form). At that time, praefectus meant province governor. That’s some high level of hierarchy right here and some smooth flattery!
Atque adferro acerbum nuncium ad vos omnes = And I bear a bitter news to you all
(Thanks to OP who helped me find the third word haha.) “Atque” is the correct form of “ac” in front of a vowel. In literature, you wouldn’t start a sentence with “and” but it’s oral speech and you have a graffity of Pompei using “et” at the beginning.
Vos omnes morituri estis = You all are about to die
(So I hear “estes” but it’s “estis”.) I love this construction and I love the translation they gave! Y’all probably know about the “Ave Caesar, morituri te salutant” (”Hi Caesar, those about to die salute you”) which is almost the same thing here. To get technical, “morituri” (plural) is a participle like “eaten” (except a futur one, not a past one). There is a futur tense in Latin but this holds a particular meaning: it’s the impending-ness and inevitability of the futur.
Iste mons ignes plastos [per saecola] in uos est evomiturus = This mountain is about to vomit fire-like on you
“Plastus” means “imitated, faux”. The segment in brackets could be “per saecula” (”for all centuries”). In terms of proximity to the personne speaking, “iste” is “afar” (but not “far away”). It can also denote negativity which I don’t see why Loki would bother with such (”This bad mountain here”).
Scio haec esse vera quod ego de futuris adveni = I know this is true because I came from the futur times.
I hear “spiro” (”I huff”) but obviously “scio” makes much more sense. And behold, an infinite proposition! Basically (and English does it all the time actually) it’s “I know these things to be true” (plural is important because for a hot minute I thought it was nominative fem sing which would be so grammatically wrong). I’m elated because if this speech had been written by a random writer using Google Translate, you would never had this. Which is ironic considering I think this construction to be amongt the most latined sentences to ever Latin! Also, at first listening, the last sentence made me wince hard because I would never have phrased it like that but Cicero does use “futura, orum” (neutral, plural) for “future” so hey, works for me. “Ego” is a bit superfluous here as the verbs are conjugated at the first singular person but Loki being Loki, it does put an emphasis in the god/omen deliverer aspect of his little speech.
Conclusion: 9/10. I still thinks it didn’t flow naturally (why take a break between ignes and plastos?) but you can feel the scholar in the constructions which is, you know, always appreciated. As for Loki, it’s grandiloquant, he had fun doing it. Thank you for your patience, stay tuned for next time Hiddleston wants to show off and I’ll want too.
Thank you for the translation! The details are so interesting. I just love how they let him flex his classics major for a hot sec.
Reblogging for this fantastic addition by @magnificentcookie ! That was really interesting, and understanding the background makes it even more impressive.
I’m not a fan of being told I need therapy for being emotional. The idea that someone’s outrage hits something in me and I’m not permitted to comment, particularly when it revolves around my gender…
I don’t think healthy people every really get chronic illness.
I have a friend I know from when we were both 6. She is the only person living nearby and so she saw me go from walking through limping to wheelchair on a daily basis. I keep her updated on my health even tho we rarely hang out anymore.
She was gonna come over yesterday and I had to cancel. She asked if I can’t hang out later that day. When I said i won’t feel better later, that if I feel that bad in the morning later will only get worse she got annoyed and “joked” that I’m just finding excuses. And I was surprised, she knows all about me being disabled after all? So, a bit taken aback, I told her it’s a normal thing for me.
“But you got the diagnosis now, aren’t you better?? I thought you’ll get better now”
She was honestly surprised and it made me realize a thing. They don’t get it. They don’t get that getting diagnosed only equals benefits like welfare or parking spot for us, and sometimes better pain meds but that is just like pushing luck. That it’s a forever thing. That that one day we felt good a week ago was just a bright spot and doesn’t mean we won’t need our aids anymore, cause chronic illness is not linear and will make a great comeback in next four hours, and the next good day is planned on when we’re 70.
Cause when abled people are sick, they get better. And our illness is just an excuse for them. And when we say we will never get better they think we’re being dramatic and pessimistic.
And I don’t think they’ll ever get it, cause to get it you need to live it.
And I want my friends to stay healthy and not go through hell.
This is definitely okay to reblog and abled people are encouraged to reblog cause maybe it’ll help others understand
Hello it’s me Lexa and this post is relevant again as I just had the
Legit Same Talk with someone and I exhausted my number of fucks to give
Oh my god I literally had this conversation with my mother an hour ago.
Mum: “So yeah, I was thinking that when I come down we could do visit an art gallery or a museum or something.”
Me: “I’ll have to see if I’m up for it, I’ve been going through a rough patch. I might not have the energy.”
Mum: “But you love art galleries.”
Me: “I know. What part of ‘it hurts to walk long distances now’ is hard for you though?”
I routinely have people well aware of my disabilities/chronic illness congratulate me on how I “seem to be doing so much better these days!” on a good pain/energy day and then basically try to stage an intervention a week later on a bad one. “You seem to be on a decline lately, I’m just concerned you’re not taking care of yourself!” And then a week later on a good day again congratulate me on how I really seem to have improved and must be making a real effort to keep on top of my health, with no irony or self-awareness whatsoever.
The narrative of “getting better” is so ingrained that healthy abled people will ignore massive amounts of cognitive dissonance to apply it where it makes absolutely no sense.
And this belief in “getting better” is actively harmful because that’s how we get shitty things like people having their benefits “reviewed” and taken away because it’s been ten years and they’re not going to the doctor “enough.” They don’t need to get constant treatment after they know what they have, but that doesn’t mean they’re magically cured or just “not trying”!!! It means they’re ill, they’re always going to be ill, and going to the doctor every week isn’t going to change that (not to mention it’s expensive af)!
I see this in my job much more frequently than I should (we help people fight benefit denials and occasionally get back benefits after these “reviews”). Sometimes it’s justified - the person went back to work - but more often, it’s not, it’s just that some worker somewhere decided that this person or that person should be all better by now, and that’s just not how chronic illness works, so ending this idea that chronically ill people will just get better would help put a stop to shit like that.
They cannot comprehend that we do not control our health. In their world, when people are sick it’s because they caught it from someone else, and if you stay sick it’s your fault for not taking care of yourself. They cannot fathom a world where you can
do everything right and still be sick.
“don’t let your disability define you! Fight! INspirEd! Taking back my life from Cancer!” This narrative is everywhere in Able culture. If you JUST tried harder you’d get better. THAT is what they live and believe.
Therefore to them if we are “still” sick or “Sick Again” it’s because WE did something wrong. They can’t comprehend a world where you can’t Earn health as a reward for performing purity, kale and yoga.
people who got lucky don’t want to acknowledge how absolutely, terrifyingly random the whole world is and how little we can actually control our circumstances. thin people really think they just ‘eat better’ than fat people. the rich really think they’re better with money than the poor. and abled people really, really do not want to face up to the fact that you can do everything right and the universe just doesn’t fucking care and you can get arthritis in your twenties, or chronic fatigue syndrome basically whenever, or maybe your legs just stop working and no one will be able to tell you why.
don’t have a pithy conclusion here. just, listen to people when they tell you what’s wrong with them. goddamn.
This is literally everything… I get SO tired of people trying to guilt trip me for being sick.
I AM THE ONE WHO IS SUFFERING HERE - not you… how on earth do you feel like that gives you the right to make me feel guilty for my pain?
I feel like the same can be said of trauma as well.
Stop making people feel guilty for their pain and/or suffering. Even ‘innocent’ comments like ‘you look so much more beautiful when you smile’ are seriously dehumanizing.
I recently had someone send me a message telling me… “your thoughts are like clouds, but remember that you are the sky and not the clouds.”
I get it… you’re trying to cheer me up. But your attempt at ‘coaching’ me to a ‘better’ situation is coming from a really naive place. Try living with chronic illness for over 15 years, having your entire life completely taken from you, and then tell me how every day is sunny and full of bliss…
The way some people treat others with chronic illness and trauma literally makes me sick (no pun intended).
Some of us are in constant pain, and telling us ‘it will get better’ or how proud you are for us feeling well, are subtle ways to make us feel like we are inferior because we have pain, because we suffer. And letting us know how much better we are when we don’t suffer is well - heartless, not to mention neglectful.
We don’t need to feel guilty for something that already causes us tremendous regular pain. We don’t need to feel like we’re less of a person, because you are strong and able and upset that we can’t run and play with you. Believe me, if you think you have it bad because you can’t hang out with someone who’s ill or suffering… you don’t know the HALF of how bad it can really be.
And I find it laughable when people think this is my fault… like I’m somehow not taking care of myself. I’d like to see half of the people I know attempt to stay on my strict diet, that I constantly adhere to, in attempts to keep myself functioning. If I ate like just one of those people that hound me about my health, for even one day… I’d be coughing up blood for days afterward. AND if you ate like you do, with my health conditions, you probably wouldn’t be alive for more than a month.
If compassion is too difficult for you, then at least do us all (the people that suffer) a favor and just stay away.
Hey so when a person who’s just said that they use any/all pronouns follows up their message with “actually i just realized I’m not comfortable with every pronoun, all power to the it/its in chat but i don’t vibe with it ❤️” that’s not shitting on it/its as pronouns. Let any/all people not fit perfectly into that box without taking it as an attack on people who do use a pronoun. My discomfort with it has no reflection on the pronoun itself.
I shouldn’t have to tell people that it has been used to hurt me as a Jew for people to not attack me for my discomfort. Again, all power to the it/its and I’m very happy to use that word for you.
The same with neopronouns. I am super happy you use them and I will type them for you all day, but we away that I don’t hear them with my auditory processing disorder and due to said disorder, my pronunciation will be abysmal and please be patient.
If we can’t be kindly intersectional with out the direct call outs to things like ethnic minority and disability, how inclusive are we really being as queer people?
“Told you we should bring the shield, Barnes”
Okay so since I drew a comic about Sam and Bucky going fishing, I’ve got a lot of people asking me “OMG PIGEON is Bucky’s metal arm even waterproof!?” so I thought about it and then this happened. Sam just being a gentleman and helping Bucky keeping his arm dry ;D☔💙

BRUCE: I’ve created jobs by keeping Wayne Enterprises in Gotham. I’ve provided scholarships to every employee of my company and I offer them to others as well. I’ve built orphanages and hospitals, including mental health facilities. I’ve provided jobs to ex-felons right out of prison so they can rebuild their lives. I’ve supported pro-reform political candidates and the few honest cops in Gotham City.
BRUCE: It’s going to take time to reform the system and lift this city out of poverty and corruption, so I think I’ll spend my evenings protecting the people who live here. Tonight, I’m going after the criminals preying on the sex workers struggling to make a living in Crime Alley.
BRUCE: And once I’ve kicked some ass, I’ll offer their victims jobs at Wayne Enterprises so they can get off the streets and have stable, safe, legal employment. I’ll pay for any education or training they might need.
ALFRED: Don’t forget your cape, sir.
there was an entire episode of the 90s series ‘the forgotten’ where he personally visits a homeless shelter he funds, discovers some homeless people who frequent it have gone missing, then to find out where they went purposefully pretends to be homeless to be beaten up, captured, and taken to where the other homeless guys were being used as slave labor
he legit willingly submits himself to torture and nearly dies trying to help homeless people, at least one person actually died in this situation he willingly entered
then when he gets out straight up has Alfred pull the limousine up with job applications for the guys he was locked up with
-that- is how to batman
This is reason number two modern cinema doesn’t get Batman.
If you can’t picture your batman as Matches Malone, or getting the ventriloquist into a job at Wayne enterprises, you’re not picturing batman.
(the first test is “Can you picture your batman taking time to comfort a lonely, scared child?”)

Bucky has a productive therapy session where he and Dr. Raynor talk sexuality, beds, his new hobby, and how Bucky is going to watch Queer Eye for modern gay culture. All before Sam comes two weeks later.
This has been a dusting off of some cobwebs and also good to write about therapy in my own way. If you want more, let me know and I have a part 2 in mind.
As he filtered through and accounted for items, he stopped and gasped at a photo that was a little out of focus and zoomed probably too far in. It was probably taken by AJ. But it had Sam sitting behind Bucky, his chin leaning comfortably on his metal shoulder, smiling broadly as Bucky was talking.
“When was this taken, Bucky?” Dr. Raynor asks.
“A few days after Sam and I started sleeping together, I think,” Bucky said, still in a daze.
Dr. Raynor bit her lip at a comeback and instead just glanced mischievously between him and the picture.
“Well I’m glad that you are making deeper connections. So does this mean you’ve been sleeping in a bed?”
“Do you want to go to a restaurant now that we’re both fully immunized?”
“A RESTAURANT? TAKE OFF MY MASK? WHAT?”
I saw someone on tiktok basically saying “I’m still gonna wear my mask outside because I don’t want people to think that I’m a Republican” and that’s kind of where I’m at right now.
