The way I’ll never understand why so many people are criticizing the show ‘A Teacher’. Like it’s SUPPOSED to make you uncomfortable. It’s SUPPOSED to be gross. They did an amazing job showing how this affects someone and how their whole life is forever changed because of it. Nick Robinson better get an award for this or I’m suing.
I LOVED this episode. This was the perfect way to end the series. I love how Eric was able to point out that Claire was the one who started everything. She tries to say “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have let you kiss me.” But he says (paraphrased): “Is that what you think happened? You were the one who agreed to tutor me. You were the one who took me to UT. You were the one who inisted I called you ‘Claire’. You were the one who told me to get in the backseat of that car.” I just LOVE how he responded to everything she said. She tried to play the victim by saying “Yeah my life might seem perfect but I can’t go to PTA meetings anymore ☹️. When people look at me I’m one google search away from ruin.” And he says “You’re still making this about you. Our relationship messed me up. It took me years to understand that what happened wasn’t my fault.” And the part that broke me a lot was when he said “I saw my brother today. He’s 17 now. The same age I was. And y’know what? He looks so fucking young.” Like shit I almost cried. He really was just a kid.
TL;DR: I am so thankful this show came out. This show did a much better job than the movie it was based on with how it showed the dangers of grooming and how it affects the victims for their whole lives. The final episode ended things perfectly and I’m so glad that Eric knows that it isn’t his fault. But what’s sad is he’ll always have to live with this. Okay I’m totally rambling here but Claire can go to hell, Nick Robinson’s acting was amazing and this show did a fantastic job of portraying grooming, how harmful it is, how young boys are affected (because notice how throughout the series usually lots of people were like “Hey cool you slept with your teacher you rock” instead of recognizing that it was abuse), and just trauma and the stages of everything. Okay holy crap I’ve been rambling for so long but anyways please talk to me about this show no one I know has watched it.
