Who was it that had attacked that night? Who was it that had taken his daughter and wife away from him and injured his son as badly as they had? Who was in the position to even know about why those twins might be considered different from other human babies? He’d always blamed himself. If they’d had another father, if they weren’t all affected by his curse, then maybe none of this heartache would never have happened.
“No. We both loved you very much. You’re mother was very protective over you both. It’s why she lost her life while trying to protect you…and I’m guessing Eiji looked too injured for the kidnapper to have taken him as well”, he sighed lightly, “…you know our homeland. It’s never been the calmest of places and can be rather difficult to live in, but I never expected for anything like that to happen”. They were getting ready to move, to get out from that frozen wasteland, to give their children the chance of a much better life. But would Taru even trust anything that he had to say?
“I know it’s a lot to take in and I bet that your ‘master’ has painted myself and Eiji in a rather negative light…but we never stopped searching for you. Eiji even took up alchemy in order to try and find a safer way to transverse the Abyss. We always held onto the hope of seeing you again”.
The irritation this man made her feel, caused Taru to crinkle her nose as if disgusted by his words. Eiji, her father, the anemo archon… how did people seem to judge her master so quickly as ‘bad’? Why did nobody ever seem to try seeing her side of the whole story?
It was not them, who had cried in fear as child. It was not them, who watched happy families and heard their laughter, as if nothing bad could ever break them apart. Now that she slowly met her own all one by one, she didn’t know anymore who to even believe. It would be a given, to of course believe what she had been told what she had heard since years. To believe the man, who had sacrificed time and nerves to raise her to the person she was today - though, not happy, she at least had never fear to be alone. Or so she thought.
“ I only have been once in Snezhnaya. “, Taru admitted while she keep on hugged her knees - just for the purpose of giving herself some comfort, “ But I witnessed the bitter coldness over there. “. To catch the cryo archon would be one of the worst hardships she’d have yet to overcome. Not only was the female probably the strongest of the archons, but she was also surrounded by the Fatui - their Harbingers would be quite the pain.
Mentally, the young woman shook her head. Reminding herself to not think about that yet. After all, they only had the Anemo archon by now. “ I would be glad if it’s true… that you never stopped searching and that I once was loved after all… “.
The question was just… could she believe it all? Eiji’s words were the truth, when he asked for what reason they’d had to lie to her. It would have been easier to just ignore her, to pretend like she wouldn’t exist, if they truly would have wanted to get rid of her, to not let her be part of it all.
“ So… it’s not because I possess energy of the abyss…? “, she asked with hushed voice.
