I watched Hereditary the other night…

Oh sweet baby Jesus. It, I, oh boy…

Intense. Very, 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 intense movie.

Toni Collette was exquisite! Why didn’t she get a nomination for it? My heart broke every time she was onscreen.

Milly Shapiro also does wonderfully in her film debut. (Spoiler) She’s only in the film for a while but even then her presence is still felt.

Gabriel Byrne–one of my favorites–does a great job as well.

And Ann Dowd can play creepy excellently.

But to me, the best performance was Alex Wolff as Peter. I felt like he was sort of we the audience’s view. He got more and more frightened like I did; plus the fact that he smashed his face into his desk and his reaction afterward played in my head again and again.

Would I watch it again? Yeah, I would but maybe with someone else in the room.

Best scene? Well, there are two.

1. When Annie discovers Charlie. It just strikes the right nerve and I could still hear Annie’s anguished screams after the scene was over.

2. The scene at the end. I just sat there when it ended, totally gobsmacked.

Ari Aster certainly has a great career ahead of him. Phew…

And I found out that there was supposed to be foam on the table when Alex smashed his face into it but the take was so good they kept it. Ouch.
