august 2021 • day trips in the city
i could spend hours at the museum, there’s so much to see, also spoilt for choice at this cute Italian cafe - I have to return to try the pastries!!
20.08.2021 when you read a line in a book and it makes u gasp at how well written and poetic and beautiful it is >>>>
one thing i’ve learnt is that u can’t put your life on hold for that perfect idealized future moment. thats just condemning your present self to needless repentance and suffering. get that haircut now — not when you’ve lost x amount of weight. go get on that long drive out to the ocean NOW — don’t sit and wait for that hypothetical daydreamy significant other to arrive. you can’t save important life experiences for a self that ultimately doesn’t exist. all you have is you, right now, at this very moment. perfection is a myth anyway, just another perfect word for procrastination. do you want to live a life of i could have’s? please do not let your life wither away right before your eyes bc u were too busy putting it off
•17.08.2021• so i finally got a copy of Song of Achilles and i already know it’s going to be emotional 😭 i loved Circe and I can’t wait to read this! i also pressed some flowers from my garden and the colours surprisingly held
•30.07.21• happy friday!! so glad it’s the weekend, I miss doing my hobbies and just relaxing, work gets so busy sometimes it’s hard to do anything else 😅 might finally start one of the books from my recent haul and journal!!
17.07.21 • there’s a heatwave in the uk right now and while i love the sunshine it’s hard to do anything in this heat! watched a movie with my mum and did a deep clean of the house, also did a small shopping haul for summer clothes ~ excited for more summer days!! 🌞 ig
it’s easy for hobbies to turn into things we avoid because of the pressure we put on ourselves. but i promise, u have nothing to prove. if u enjoy drawing, draw!! it doesn’t have to be museum worthy. ur baking doesn’t need to be master chef worthy every time you do it. hobbies are hobbies because they make you happy and u enjoy doing them. there is no pressure for u to become a professional in everything u enjoy; enjoy it for the lack of pressure. try and let yourself participate in things without tying ur worth to the final products. if it makes you happy, anything that comes from that is worth it.
there’s no rule as to how big or how small you’re allowed to dream. if you just want a small home and an orange kitchen and four cats that’s just as reasonable of a goal to work for as a big new york penthouse. and if all you really want is a simplistic career that isn’t the center of your life then that’s just as valid as dreaming of becoming a famous fashion designer or ceo. i know everyone keeps urging you to dream big, but dreams can be as simple and small as you want. they’ll always be valid. you decide how you want to live and what kind of life you want, no one else.
wed 30th june • i finally unboxed my secondhand book haul, all are in good condition and a bargain, some even looked brand new! the site i ordered from seems to have sustainable policies and I can’t wait to talk more about it - I’ll share on youtube soon!
2021 be like: I’m thriving. I’m miserable. I am revisiting old hobbies. None of my hobbies are fun. I’m walking a lot. I have a vitamin D deficiency. The pandemic has lasted one month. The pandemic is over. The pandemic has lasted for 10 years. I am completely isolated. I talk to my friends constantly. I love working from home. Fourteen months have vanished from existence. I have a repetitive stress injury from working from home. I’m sick to death of working from home. Everyone is getting vaccinated. There’s three new variants that no-one is vaccinated from. Stay indoors. Start going out. Outdoor dining. Restart the economy. Don’t touch. Isn’t it great that we’re finally going back to normal?
i made a new video!! i (finally) organised my stationery! it’s made journaling soo much easier, and less tidying up which is always a bonus ☺️ i also went for a long walk + listened to an audiobook, the weather is so lovely lately i grateful for this (rare) summery british weather ✨
