I’m being drawn to Sobek strongly. I have always been a worshiper of Him, but now more than ever, I am pulled in His direction.
I plan to devote some study and time to Him in the coming month. Initially, I had the idea to study one God per month extensively, for the sake of my book (I am writing a book where I compose at least one original poem or hymn per Deity). I think I’m going to try that again. For the rest of February, I’m going to study crocodiles/alligators, Egyptian history, muscles, and Sobek Himself.
If you are a worshiper of Sobek, please tell me about your personal experiences with Him! I’ve had incredibly positive experiences with Him (He was very friendly and engaged when interacting with me any my *much* younger cousin), but I’d love to hear more!
I’m thinking next month I’ll study Emhotep, so any experiences/opinions on Him would also be appreciated!
Sobek, in my experience, is a very interesting god. Above all, he feels ancient. Like, imagine Eldritch-like sorts of ancient. Deep, abyssal oceans and silence that screams in ancient tongues and the subtle, slow heartbeat of an impenetrable force. He’s a father, mentor, predator, king, war general, that’s seen it all and knows it all. He’s chaotic, yes, but it’s not the same chaos that Set has. Where Set is the chaos of raging wildfires and storms, Sobek is both stormy seas and the unmoving abyss deep below the surface. He knows what he wants and will wait patiently to strike. He’s been around since Zep Tepi, he saw the earth through its infancy. He was the burnt, dry land and the ocean that became the womb of the start of life on Earth. He is beautifuo and terrifying, awful and awesome, life and death, love and war, merciful healer and merciless hunter.
Okay okay, Beket, that’s enough rambling for now
Anyways, hope you can make sense of that haha. Kinda lost myself there for a moment.
I’ve gotten the same vibes, honestly! Though Sobek has always been friendly to me (which I appreciate a lot, don’t get me wrong), I feel that He also has an unfathomable strength connected to the deep parts of the earth and universe.
