Oh wow, I mean I did a series before PLL that went for a year and I did a series before that, and I’ve done four or five pilots that we shot that just never got picked up… So a total in my life of auditions… I mean thousands, there are so just so many you start losing track! But it’s fun - I enjoy the auditioning process. I love reading material and I love going in and trying new things but there’s a whole story before PLL that people don’t even know about me; I’ve pretty much been working and supporting myself since I was 15. I booked PLL when I was 20, so it’s been a steady incline since then.
“I definitely relate to Veronica, one, her sense of humor and two, in her circumstances. I think I’ve experienced certain aspects of her life firsthand. I know what it’s like to be the new girl because she is the new girl in town and I grew up moving around a lot in my childhood. It was a very unstable life, I never really got to identify with one place, so I was constantly trying to re-identify myself. Veronica moves to Riverdale and everyone already knows each other, and she has to find her place. She is totally out of her comfort zone and I definitely know what it feels like!”
“I have certain clothes in my closet that I want to get rid of but I keep for specific auditions where I’ll have to look more like a college student. There was one bad incident though. I thought the audition was for a period piece, and so I wore this dress that looked like it was basically from medieval times. I get to the audition, and the feedback was like, ‘Can she look a little sexier? The movie is set in 2012.’ I had my hair braided!”
