Anyone Listen To Mayday Parade?
This is for you. Whether you’re the loner girl who sits alone at lunch, wondering why no one sits with her, blaming herself and that voice in her head telling her how wrong she is to be alive. For the lonely boy who sits at his desk at school with his hoodie up, doodling in his notebook, trying to ignore the bullies sitting behind him throwing paper balls at the back of his head, calling him “emo” because he doesn’t socialize, wears only black or isnt on the football team. Waiting for school to end so he can also end his useless life.
Whoever, where ever you are. This is for you. Whether you’re a self harmer, or are contemplating to damage your precious skin with these horrid blades for the first time.
You. You’re SO. MUCH. BETTER than these lifeless, pieces of metal. Don’t let them control your happiness, your life, the way you dress.
I’m not telling you to simply “stop cutting”. I know how difficult it is to stop self harming. It’s an addiction. I’m telling you that you’re so much better than this. “No, I’m not” you’re probably thinking in your head right now. “You don’t know me; you don’t know how much I’m worth”. True. I don’t know you. I don’t know what you’ve gone/ are going through. But I DO know that no matter what, you will always be worth more than the price you’ve placed on yourself.
I may not know a majority of you, but I do know that you have emotions. You have blood running through your veins. You have a heart. You have the sense to hear, feel, touch, see, taste. Whereas these blades, or whatever tool you’re using to hurt yourself, is nothing. It’s just material. Nothing more. It has no feeling. No emotions.
You’re better than this. If you’re still holding that blade, put it down, please.
If you’ve dropped it, I’m so proud of you.
