Tucker laughed softly and smiled at her. “Don’t worry. I think they like you better than me so I’m sure they want to make sure I’m treating you well.” What he was saying was true. Kenzie and Tucker had their problems but Tucker knew she wouldn’t steer him wrong when it came to how to act with Jackie. If anything, she was probably shocked he was actually trying with a girl that she was going to assist him as best as possible. “So far they haven’t let me down, at least. Anything I think is too weird, I’ll talk to you first. Like I sorta did when it came to what do about other people and fucking around.” Since his talk with Jackie on that subject, he hadn’t been with anyone. Even before talking with Kenzie, he stopped fucking around with girls on campus. Now, he had entirely stopped fucking around with anyone. It was hard as hell to do but Tucker was actually trying. He didn’t want to screw things up before they even had a chance to really start.
If it hadn’t been for Mr. Evans and trying to always show off his money to whoever was around, Tucker probably would’ve never stepped foot in a place like this either. There had been too many events, however, where Tucker was forced to go and he had learned the way of fine dining. “Really? Well, honestly, I hate these kind of places,” he admitted speaking in a low tone so no one heard him. “I just figured it would be a nice, I don’t know,” he shrugged, “Romantic place to start our whatever this is out.” Tucker had asked Kenzie if he could take Jackie to McDonalds or something but she quickly had shot that idea down. Honestly, Tucker would’ve been fine going anywhere as long as it was with Jackie. He had enjoyed their dinners at the cafeteria but he knew he had to step it up now. “How about we both order something random as hell and just see what we get? We can share and if it’s absolutely disgusting we’ll just pay and go grab a burger at a diner or something.”
Jackie had to stop herself from laughing or spilling the beans that he knew about Kenzie helping him out. She didn’t want to ruin the moment, if this was classified as one necessarily. “In that case, I like them.” She stated it with a soft smile as nodded along with what he said. If Kenzie knew and was willing to help him, that had to speak for Tucker’s case. In the sense, that he was serious about this or at least, as serious as he could be right now when they were first starting out. That alone, spoke volumes to Jackie who really was willing to give Tucker the benefit of the the doubt unless he truly proved that he couldn’t handle being with her. Just her, at that. “Well, I’m glad you did. It’s weird but I guess we have to talk about it or nothing will ever happen.”
With a slow nod of her head, she responded to him. “Really. I’ve never really cared about fancy things, to be honest but I don’t mind trying it.” Jackie’s family was simple, probably way more simple than Tucker’s had ever been and even setting foot in one of these places was new for her, let alone eating anything. Even so, Jackie was enjoying it, mostly because she enjoyed Tucker’s company, the moments when things were just normal and not awkward. "I know you might be surprised, but you can kind of tell that you hate it.“ She muttered back to him, followed with a laugh that she tried not to make too loud. The real cherry on top would be people looking at them like they stuck out like sore thumbs. "That plan sounds great to me. Not that I don’t appreciate the gesture but I really don’t want either of us to hate this food.”
