After reading the manga, I’m kinda disappointed how the writers made Niragi’s character in the show.
Don’t get me wrong, he’s still absolutely awful in the manga, but he was much more calculative and intelligent than the live action made him out to be. Like, before the borderlands, Niragi was a gaming engineer. And his specialty in the borderlands were diamond games. He wasn’t just chaos because of his “troubled” past. He genuinely loved watching people devolve from what he saw as society’s standards for morality into their carnal beings. When the witch hunt started, he just wanted the game to be a slow burn where everyone turned on each other. Last Boss was the one that suggested they just start killing everyone.
I could rant about a few characters that were not written as deeply for the show, but to some extent, I understand. And now my head is just trying to figure out how the hell they plan on making a season 2 when they’ve condensed the characters in such a manner.
Also, with how much Niragi connects with Arisu in the novel -if they plan on sticking with Arisu- how are they gonna show that character development?
One of the last things Niragi says in the manga is this:
“If there were 7 billion people like me, you (Arisu) would be the evil one.”
So apparently a lot of Twitter users are jumping ship and coming here (which is hilarious) and I’ve seen a lot of “welcome to tumblr” posts going around (also hilarious)
But I don’t think I’ve seen a single one address how clout works on this app. Namely that it doesn’t exist. There’s no verification system. There’s no way to check how many followers someone else has. You can have 5 followers or 500,000 and no one is going to care either way.
Also, simply being on tumblr negates any clout you may have elsewhere. Taylor Swift uses this app. No one cares.
