“One of the things I always find in life, is that the most satisfying thing with anything is closure. Y'know? Putting a proper lid on everything. Going “Right, this is done. This is done, and it’s all ended.” ”
Level 1: The setting of Splatoon is already post-apocalyptic, and Splatoon 3 just happens to take place in a part of the world where the consequences of that are more visible.
Level 2: The Inklings moved to the middle of a desert in order to inhabit a landscape that coordinates better with their post-apoc outfits, because they’re exactly the sort of fashion-obsessed weenies who’d think that makes sense.
Level 3: The Inklings deliberately caused a regional apocalypse so that their post-apoc fashion would be situationally appropriate.
The fact that we have proof the Squid Sisters visited the eiffel tower before it got knocked over really pushes Level 3
To be fair, it’s completely possible that the Inklings went and built multiple Eiffel Towers all over the place because they liked the look of it. That feels like the sort of thing they’d do.
yk i think its important to remember that while the dsmp characters are characters, they are basically still the people that play them. like the way streamers play their characters is generally just “what if i was in this situation” - the characters are just them but a little more fucked up. which i think is good to keep in mind when making fan content and hcs? obviously there’s a separation there, but they’re very much still the people that play them, so making . weird content about the characters is also kind of making weird content about the ccs
