Familiar: Infernal Hound, Dral

In their early life, Taylor was unsure of what their path would be. with no special talents or even a familiar to lend guidance, they felt very lost and unfulfilled. desperate to find their calling, they began dabbling in all sorts of practices, even the most difficult and dangerous: demonology. by a complete fluke, they summoned a powerful Infernal demon named Dral, who now had claim to their soul. Taylor made a deal with the demon; lend his power, and he could have their soul when they died. now the two are bound together in a strange partnership, and hunt escaped demons and other troublemaking creatures

most of the time, Dral follows Taylor at their side, but can lend his sight to the ethereal plain, and even engulf them in a beastial form the two affectionately call “Houndrel”

i’ve been playing around with the idea that Bee finds Jovie as a toddler, and pretty much raises her. still not completely sure if that’s how the story should go, but it was fun drawing a baby Jo <3

super quick remake of my pearlmuth fusion, Paua! wanted to change up the colour pallet, and take away the awkward secondary limbs. now they’re more like markings that wind down the arms to “hold hands”. also tried to give her a mechanic vibe since pearl and bismuth bonded over a car mechanic ad song. she’s a miss fixit, and the ultimate parental figure; very protective and loves handing out inspirational quotes whenever she can. lots of “dad” jokes and puns

so this started as a warmup and then i kept going. a slight revamp of the light fury! i loved her as is but i wasn’t a huge fan of the sexual dimorphism they gave her. sexual dimorphism is neat but not when it’s used to make something or someone pretty and dainty to appeal to audiences. so!

i loved the idea of light furies being cave dwellers, so a shorter wing-span makes sense in order to navigate tight areas. and i actually didn’t mind her smooth scales, rounded wings, and lack of ridges, but it’d make more sense if she were semi-aquatic. being both cave-dwelling and aquatic, echolocation seemed like a reasonable perk. and living in those cold waters requires insulation, so light furies are a bit chubbier due to fat reserves. and i wanted to play even more with the whole “light” fury thing, so rather than plasma blasts that make her scales reflective, she has chromatophores! excellent for camouflage, communication, and displays.
