I’ve got a question to ask. For about a few months, chapter 42 The Valley of Kings has the highest views and accesses through out all fanfiction sites compared to other chapters. I wanted to ask: What makes you people come back to it?
1. Sorey’s hearing the truth from Emperor Dorian?
2. Rokurou’s fight with Shigure?
3. Avernus and Magilou vs Melchior?
4. Lailah’s ascendance to be the Lady of the Lake?
I never watched or played any of Fate Grand Order titles and now I watched FGO Wandering Argateram and I just don’t know what to say. I made Avernus more than two years ago and started drawing him back in the summer of 2019. I always imagine his Japanese voice in Mamoru Miyano’s impression of Setsuna F. Seiei from Gundam 00 as you guys probably saw in his profile that I made last year.
Now there is Bedivere in FGO Wandering Argateram with Mamoru Miyano as his VA with that exact impression of Setsuna and with 70% looks of Avernus…
It’s just a really strange coincidence. When it releases, go and see it. Bedivere (Sabre) is kind of what I imagine Avernus to be (Not physically though, Avernus is more masculine but they are both considered to be good looking) and in the realm of Arthurian Legends too.
First of all, take it easy. It’s all fun talk. Don’t let these get to you. I will not tag it aggressively to not attract people who will get agitated. Although getting angry over some imaginary character is not a good image for yourselves.
Time to dive into the minds of the creators. The type I like. So I had long talks with different people (Nothing serious, just for fun) of what type this girl in her canon situation will probably respond to if a pairing for her was a thing. Let’s be honest, Velvet is one of those characters that creators deliberately left her tastes out or made them super vague. I went through nearly most of the Namco released materials in guides, Asteria, Rays, and even merchandises to find some clues.
I’m going to put it in the trash can now: No one in Berseria cast is a candidate. They were just a group of people with same goal that went their own ways at the end.
Second, Velvet’s physical preference seems to be blond men (Except Eizen). In Crestoria, she has voluntary dialogues with Kanata and Cress. She although scolds Kanata for his hair like an older sister (As usual). Is this because of Laphi? Maybe? I know this probably unrelated, but one time in a live session for Cristina Vee, she told the audience that she likes Norwegians because they were blond and tall. Then I got my first clue.
All for making a character that if he (Yes he, she was looking forward to being a mother and also Velvet is one of the characters that showed zilch to none interest in her female friends) existed she would show interest without bending her character and OOCing her.
What I’m talking about is why Avernus keeps teasing Velvet all the time? Why I thought edgy Velvet would be even remotely interested in this kind of behavior?
Well, when it was released for promoting Hello kitty merchandise back in 2017 I was like: huh… Okay. Because it didn’t mean anything at the time since she shared some promotional art with Cress too. But then again I think I saw more of these two together.
Then I dismissed it half-heartedly because I thought it is a marketing move since these two were famous. But again, Zelos is not getting a sword stab through his chest so she would like the tease maybe. Therefore I added this for Avernus:
He teases Velvet a lot through the story. Like he is not afraid. He was supposed to be a little like Zelos in terms of womanizing but I decided him to cool it down during the events so people won’t cry Gary Stu!
Then this even for Crestoria came and these two are together… again. And they have interactions that she doesn’t mind getting involved it.
I think I was right. I nailed two of her preferences.
There you go. Small details but you wonder why, here it is. Avernus is not a clueless dense teenager. You need to be a wall-wrecker to go through those.
But hey… it’s just a theory… A Velvet theory!

Alternative Berseria The X rewritings:
Chapter 13: Blackout is finished. After proofreading, I will post it first on Ao3 since fanfiction.net is experiencing some problems. It is now called Chapter 13: The Buried Despair.
Chapter 14: First Strike is going through an entirely new rewriting process. You will see a new fight and new dialogues between the cast. It s now called Chapter 14: Vigilante.
Chapter 15: Oaths and Duels will also implement a full rewrite at the end. Same as the manga panels you saw.
New Bonus Chapter: I’m slowly writing it. It won’t have a sneak peek but know this that it will have an interesting interaction scene between Avernus and Lancelot Dragonia, older brother of Oscar and Teresa. No magic, no conjuring weapons, pure melee combat and manly fight.
Alternative Zestiria The X:
Chapter 2: Take a Stand is in the process of writing. ETA is unknown. I know the process is slow, but please understand that I’m very busy IRL. Aside from that, the next week is the release date of Destiny 2 Beyond Light, and I will have even less time to spend on writing for a few weeks.

The Midgand Sea, One Month Later
The sun was high up the sky, shining on Avernus’ loose hair as he was standing adamantly on the deck of a small ship. The wind bellowed his long loose hair and long cloak. His arms were crossed over his chest, surrounded by daemon pirates.
Werewolves and werebeasts were growling in amusement at him with their Warg captain standing behind them, snorting through his nose and gazing over the lone traveler. One of the daemons walked out of the cabin and went straight to the captain. “I have searched the whole ship. There is no one on board except him.”
The Warg captain jerked his snout over to Avernus. “What kind of idiot travel all alone and flying with the imperial flag? What do you even do?”
“I’m the supervisor of reconstruction efforts,” Avernus uncaringly replied, holding his head high and his face stoic. “And I’m right in the middle of doing my job.”
The daemon crew laughed humorously all at the same time, glancing back and forth between each other, grunting, “What type of reconstruction one man like you can do?!” the Warg captain growled.
Avernus’ eyes pinned the captain under a frowning murderous gaze. “I’ll start by deconstructing trashes like you.”
The laughter suddenly faded, and their faces returned to their animalistic and barbaric expression, baring their teeth in a challenge.
Avernus turned his head around and swept a pitiful gaze over the monsters. “Look at you; a bunch of pathetic daemons, robbing civilian ships and running away like rats when Van Eltia shows up.”
Suddenly, a daemon turned to the Warg captain worryingly, “Boss! He can see us!”
“It seems he can,” the captain snorted lowly. “He looks like a leftover of one of those exorcists…” He pulled his cutlass slowly and cautiously, eyes clinging to Avernus.
“I’m not an exorcist. But I’m your worst nightmare.” The side of Avernus’ lips quirked into a confident grin, “What is it, dog? Too scared to fight me?”
One of the lesser daemons moved slowly to his side, sniffing and circling around him. “He smells of magic! But I don’t think he can take us on all at once, boss!”
“You can try, ugly dog.” Avernus taunted.
The daemon suddenly lost his patience and howled in a challenge, scrambling toward Avernus with his sword raised, his extended tongue dangling between his fangs.
Avernus’ emerald eyes glittered, and he whipped his right hand. A bright green Tomahawk out of mana formed, and he slammed it with an unhuman speed into the daemon’s gut as it approached. The werewolf screeched in pain and bent over his arm, dark blood gushing out of its mouth. Avernus conjured another axe on his left hand and, with a twirl in his hand, landed a massive hit on the daemon’s back. The sharp blade cut the beast’s spinal core, and its pained howling ceased. Avernus raised its motionless body above his head as its legs and arms dangled from it and tossed it over to the Warg captain’s feet.
Avernus hefted his conjured Tomahawks in each hand, gazing cold-bloodedly over the daemons. “Who’s next?”
This is one of the multi-posts that will give you insights into where the inspirations came from (For both Namco Bandai team and my story). Some of them were obvious and some of them were not:
Claudin Asgard (クローディン・アスガード)
King Claudas is a fictional Frankish king and an opponent to King Arthur, Lancelot, and Bors in Arthurian literature. (In Berseria, Claudin was Arthur’s mentor and father figure. In my story, the role of being his adversary was given to his son, Avernus, and will be continued in the future stories)
Asgard is the realm of the Nine Worlds surrounding the tree Yggdrasil. In Norse Mythology, Asgard is a fortified home to the Aesir tribe of gods located in the sky.
Artorius Collbrande (アルトリウス・コールブランド)
Artorius, better known in legend as King Arthur, was a leader of ancient Britons who ruled as High King from his fortress at Camlann in the region of Logres that would become Somerset with Gwenhynfar as his queen. Artorius was the son of Uther, uncle of Modred and half-brother to Morgana.
A Roman military commander and historical figure by the name of Lucius Artorius Castus (fl. 2nd century AD) is said to be the base of King Arthur’s legend.
Magilou Mayvin (Majigigika Myrddin d’Din Norrun Du (マジギギカ・ミルディン・ド・ディン・ノルルン・ドゥ ) and Melchior Mayvin ( メルキオル・メーヴィン)
Merlin (Welsh: Myrddin, Cornish: Marzhin, Breton: Merzhin) is a legendary figure who was a wizard that helped King Arthur. The name “Merlin” is derived from the Welsh Myrddin, the bard’s name, one of the chief sources for the later legendary figure.
In Berseria, both Magilou and Melchior’s characters were based on Merlin.
Percival Il Mid Asgard (パーシバル・イル・ミッド・アスガード)
Percival is one of King Arthur’s legendary Knights of the Round Table. First made famous by the French author Chretien de Troyes in the tale Perceval, the Story of the Grail, he is best known for being the original hero in the Grail’s quest, before being replaced in later English and French literature by Galahad.
Van Aifread (バン・アイフリード)
Ban (Van) is the King of Benwick or Benoic in Arthurian legend. First appearing by this name in the Lancelot proper part of the Vulgate Cycle, he is Sir Lancelot’s father and Sir Hector de Maris, the brother of King Bors, and an early ally of King Arthur.
The kingdom which Ban ruled.
House of Dragonia (ドラゴニア)
Based on Lancelot Dragoina, he is one of the Knights of the Round Table in Arthurian legend. He is typically depicted as King Arthur’s greatest companion and one of his greatest knights. According to legend, Lancelot is the orphaned son of King Ban of Benwick, raised in the fairy realm by the Lady of the Lake. He then becomes the lord of Joyous Gard, the greatest swordsman and jouster as the knight with the most martial prowess of the age. When his adulterous affair with Queen Guinevere is discovered, it causes a civil war that is exploited by Mordred to end Arthur’s kingdom.
In the upcoming ABX2, Lancelot Dragonia is the sworn enemy and nemesis of Avernus, following the discovery of his brother and sister’s cause of death.
The Hyland Kingdom (ハイランド家)
Said to be the site of one of King Arthur’s Twelve Battles, the Caledonian Forest in Scotland was apparently bewitched into a moving army of trees. Estimated to have once covered thousands of square miles, the remnants that exist today are the ancient descendants of this spectacular forest.
The son of Percival, he is a knight of the Holy Grail sent in a boat pulled by swans to rescue a maiden who can never ask his identity.
Velvet Crowe (ベルベット・クラウ)
One of her Welsh/Celtic inspirations are as follows (I had a long and interesting conversation with someone who didn’t accept that Velvet’s character was inspired by Morgan):
Morgan Le Fay (Morgana) Arthur’s half-sister, the daughter of Arthur’s mother Igraine and her first husband, the Duke of Cornwall. She is also presented as an adversary of Arthur’s: she gives Excalibur (Caliburn) to her lover Accolon so he can use it against King Arthur (a story retold in Madison J. Cawein’s poem Accolon of Gaul). Morgan is said to be the first of nine sisters who rule The Fortunate Isle or the Isle of Apples and is presented as a healer and a shape-changer.
Velvet Crowe’s other characteristics related to Morgan:
Velvet is considered to be Arthur’s sister, and later is his adversary.
Morgan’s outfit is said to be velvet and chiffon, usually in red and black.
Aball, Village of Longing (郷愁誘う村 アバル) means Avalon or the Island of Apples. The place which is home to Morgan. In Berseria, it is Velvet’s home.
Crow is Morgan’s bird signature.
Morgan is famously known for being a sorceress and witch, but Velvet doesn’t carry those traits.
P.S. inspired and based on doesn’t mean you have to copy the character entirely. Like Meliodas from 7 deadly sins inspired by King Meliodas and Arthurian legend, and everyone knows it. It doesn’t mean that King Meliodas had to be Dragon’s Sin of Wrath in Arthurian legend.
If some of you still don’t see the connection and don’t want to, it’s your choice. Don’t scream and yell that “No, I see Thanos in Velvet.” Good on you, but it doesn’t change the fact that Morgan’s roles inspired her in Arthurian legends.
Learn your lessons and be open to learning.
Also, about ABX2, yeah. It might happen, and it will definitely be an M-Rated story since the plot is entirely original. I will wait and see if enough readers are interested before I begin.
“When” it’s posted, where can it be found at?
Bonus Chapter 46 has been released and you can read it at one of these links:

Welcome to the Menagerie, Dhaos. Eizen would like to give your coin back.
Alisha Diphda, the princess of the Hyland Empire, sitting on a bench in the garden, was waiting impatiently for Shepherd Sorey and her friends to come back from Rolance. Alisha set down the book of her ancestry and leaned her head against her arm, smiling a little to herself as sunlight warmed her face through the leaves.
Alisha raised her head and saw her friend, Sirel, putting down a cup of hot coffee in front of her. Sirel brushed a hand over her short black hair, and her blue eyes glanced amusingly over Alisha. “What has gotten into you today, princess? You’re so spacy!”
Alisha shook her head slightly and closed the book. “Sorry, I was just… lost in thought.”
Sirel leaned forward, squinting at the old leather-bound journal that Alisha was reading. “Is it the Diphda ancestry records that lady Maltran gave you?”
“How far back do these records go?” Sirel asked.
“Not much. The rest goes into legends way before our time, but then it is not enough for me.”
A moment of silence passed between them. Alisha took a sip from her cup. “I have received Sorey’s message… and I really want to know my family’s connection to the Shepherds.” Alisha put a hand on her warm cheeks as she blushed, lost in her dream. “Thinking about my ancestors were Shepherds and heroes. It’s exciting, isn’t it?”
Sirel locked her hands behind her head, pursing her lips. “You certainly let these things get to you…”
Alisha shook her head, and her dreamy face reverted. “No, I’m not! I’m just admiring them…Whoever they were.” Alisha recalled no traces of them in her family’s records, and gloom flitted behind her eyes. Alisha sighed and turned to Sirel. “Any news of lady Maltran?”
“No, I couldn’t find her. She is probably doing her daily inspection of the barracks.” Sirel suggested, “Today’s going to be a breeze though as usual, no sweat. Even without lady Maltran around.”
Sirel grinned before turning her attention toward someone approaching the as Alisha took another sip of her coffee and relaxed. “Oh god, would you look at that?”
Alisha turned to look at the direction Sirel was talking about. She recognized the red-headed Ian, one of her guards and the close friend of Sirel, pacing to their side from the castle. “Look at that hair. Fashion tragedy at twelve o’clock.” Sirel mockingly said.
Alisha groaned to herself, narrowing her eyes at Sirel. “If you can’t say something nice…”
“Princess… be fair! Look at those bangs! Who could say something nice about that?”
Alisha crossed her arms and leveled a scolding glare with Sirel. “You could if you tried.”
Sirel rolled her eyes. “Ugh. Okay. At least her uniform is neat, I guess.”
Ian noticed Sirel’s up-to-no-good gaze as she joined them. “Was she bad mouthing me again?”
Sirel grumbled to herself, her brow furrowed. It made Alisha smile. “No, it was nothing. Sirel is just having some adjustment in her view of others.”
Ian sighed, eyeing Sirel suspiciously. “Shepherd Sorey has arrived. They’re in the castle, waiting for you.”
Alisha scrambled from her seat. “Really?!” She beamed and rushed towards the palace. Sirel and Ian trailed behind her.
“Slow down, princess!” Ian said.
But she was already bounding away down the corridor as they entered the castle and the giant double doors. Alisha steeled herself before pushing them open in a hurry. They slopped into the guest hall, illuminated dimly by the light that shone through stained glass windows. Alisha caught a glimpse of Sorey, Mikleo, Rose, and Lailah, waiting for her. Their heads swiveled in Alisha’s direction.
“Hey, Alisha!” Sorey waved her over, and she hurriedly paced towards him.
In his letter, Sorey reported that their mission in Rolance was successful; the city was returned to normal. With bearing the news from Emperor Dorian, the day couldn’t get better for princess Alisha…
Out of the blue, the palace began to shook, and chandeliers swung left and right. Alisha and Sorey both stopped, their eyes widening. Sorey suddenly clenched his chest and clawed where the heart was. “Ngh! No!”
Alisha’s eyes fell on his twisted face. “What is going on?!”
Mikleo rushed to his side, holding his arm and pulling Sorey up. “Sorey! What is it?!”
Lailah scrambled to join Mikleo and Sorey but then glowed to her spot, whipping her hand toward the main door, fear flitted behind her bright eyes. “This can’t be…It’s…!”
Alisha followed her gaze. She gasped as the doors heaved inward and exploded in a fiery blast. Alisha covered her face and braced herself. The burst wave hit her body and threw her over to the other side, debris raining down all around her. Alisha struggled to get up and saw several soldiers and guards staggered from the smoke. One of the castle guards held himself against the wall with one arm. “Someone… help.”
Another fully armored guard fell to his knees in the middle of all broken woods and stones, mumbling. “Please…”
Alisha’s senses heightened and quickly sobered, focusing. She called out in a voice, striding and hardened. “Everyone! Get back to the halls and assume defensive positions!”
Sirel and Ian struggled to their feet, stepping forward, and knees shaking as they fought back the shockwave’s dizziness. “Princess, what are your orders?” Sirel asked vigilantly.
Alisha gestured over the wounded soldiers staggering in the smoke. “Take the wounded out, and look out for any signs of intruders!”
Sorey and the rest join Alisha. He was still clutching his chest, but his expression was now collected. “Alisha, order your men out of here.” He suggested.
“What is it? Malevolence? Why we didn’t sense it sooner?” Alisha asked, eyes searching for the enemy amid the chaos. But there was none.
The worst part, the Shepherd, was unsure of himself. Sorey turned to Lailah, and she shook her head slightly.
Alisha’s glance shifted back and forth between Sorey and Lailah. “Hellions?”
Sorey nodded skeptically. “Yes… but we need to get you out of here.”
Alisha instantly frowned, “Getting me out of here?” She strengthened her posture firmly. “I’m not leaving my men behind.”
Sorey agreed with her and whipped his sword. “Then, we’ll protect you…” His bond with Lailah surged up, and he raised his sword skyward. “Fethmus Mioma!”
The transformation illuminated the area around them. But over Sorey’s shoulder, something caught Alisha’s eye. In the dark corner behind a column, she saw a smudge or a shadow, settling down in the dark. Alisha looked around, but it seems she is the only one who noticed it. She stepped closer to the back. The shadow pulsed, it grew, and she tilted her head even closer.
Sorey whipped his head alarmingly at Alisha, sensing the dark corruption building up. “Alisha!”
The shadowy figure turned a violent shade of red! An opening appeared below its two hollow eyes as it let out an angry hiss. It launched itself at her, sending Alisha reeling. She tripped over her own feet, falling backward as the hellion sprang. Sorey scrambled and slashed his sword at the hellion, sending a wave of fiery magic. The creature sensed the attack and split into two. The arte missed the hellion as it flew between the wide gap. It connected instantly and threw a large claw as its dark nails extended. Sorey put up a firm guard, and the attacked bounced off.
As Sorey and the hellion were at each other, a strange voice whispered to Alisha from the shadow. “Hey, pssst! Miss. Alisha!”
The princess whirled her head alarmingly at the source. She scrutinized into the dark and could make a small creature, the same size as a normin and wearing a large hat, was talking to her. “I’m here to help!” He whispered and tossed something. Alisha caught it as she opened her fingers. It appeared to be a necklace with emerald stone, the same color as her eyes, was in the middle. “What is…”
Alisha raised her head and the small figure was gone.
“Watch out!” Sorey’s shout pulled her back to reality as the hellion pounced at her from behind.
Alisha quickly rolled out of the way, throwing up her arm guard to keep it off. Suddenly, a bright beam, golden as the sun, shot from her palm where she held the necklace, blasting right through the hellion’s middle.
Alisha gasped as her eyes widened. “How…?!”
Even though the light had faded, her palm still glowed warmly. The hellions had been reduced to nothing. She opened her hand to feel the energy humming inside of her, and instantly Alisha knew it had been there all along.
Somewhere under the surface. Somewhere secret.
Sorey and the rest watched her in wonder. As soon as Alisha’s own baffling gaze clung with Sorey’s, she sensed that he wasn’t surprised like the others.
“Sorey… What is happening to me?” Alisha asked.
The Shepherd turned to the exit door and extended his hand. “First, let’s get out of here. Then I’ll explain…”
Sorey cut himself off and whirled to his back. Alisha’s new senses picked up a mighty and distant power rushed to them all.
“A Domain!” Sorey shouted, and a dark wave instantly swept all over them.
Alisha cupped her hands over her ears as her eardrums battered by the magical surge. Alisha struggled to look at her friends. She saw Sorey had been reverted back with Lailah falling on her knees. Sorey raised on his feet but his body began to flicker. Mikleo raised his hands and gazed over them in shock. “Sorey… our magic!”
Their water arte surged, and the water spouting out of a small fountain nearby turned into a high-pressure flood. “It’s out of control!” Mikleo yelled.
The hinges on the doors began to rattle before they shatter and break off. The flames along the walls flared, and water started floating the hall.
Sorey winced in pain as his magic burst from him, out of control. Flame artes ricocheted off the walls, and the rest dived to the floor to avoid getting hit.
“Sorey! What are you doing?!” Alisha demanded.
Sorey twitched in pain. “I don’t know! I can’t control my–”
A gust of wind exploded from his body, sending Sirel and Ian flying down the hall. A statue bust slammed into Sirel’s head and she was knocked unconscious. Sorey’s power raged uncontrollably. His fire magic flared up, blinding Alisha.
She stroked her eyes, and her vision snapped back into focus. Sorey’s magic was flaring in a visible aura around him. Mikleo caught Sorey’s shaking body and turned to Lailah. “What the hell is happening to him? How do we stop this?”
Bere Lailah could respond, flagstones tore themselves out of the walls, and whizzed over their heads like bullets. Lailah cast the flagstones aside and gestured her arms at Sorey and he was wrapped in a shield. His powers momentarily contained, but the Seraphim magic continued to spark around him.
Alisha watched Sorey in dread as he twitches around, groaning in anodizing pain. Then as Mikleo and Lailah reached to him again, over their shoulders, a lonely, tall shadow marched toward them. Alisha squinted her eyes and saw a tall man, all dressed in dark, smirking and raising an arm toward them. Alisha’s screamed, warning her friends, but it was too late as dark magic burst out of his hand and surged at them.
Her head spun. Alisha felt her body hit the hard ground, but she could barely saw anything. Faintly, the sounds of glass shattering, wood creaking, and artes firing all around reaching her ears.
“Sorey…” Alisha mumbled, but suddenly, soothing magic like a healing spell twirled around her soul. Calm washed over her, and as the pain receded, relief flood over her senses. A small figure, the same Normin from before, loomed into view above her, staring down at her with a worried gaze.
“Miss Alisha! We need to go!”
If you remember Alternative Berseria The X’s begining chapters, they were in a horrible state. Fortunately, Soulakai, one of my friends managed to release them throughout these months and the first 12 chapters have been ‘remastered’. Thanks to him, everyone can enjoy it more than before (A reminder is that the edits will continue till chapter 24 with chapter 14 and 15 going through a full rewrite process). Good news is he is offering his service and experience for anyone who is interested in a professional proofreading and beta reading:
Velvet has won the duel against Eleanor Hume and secured Laphicet a safe vessel. But what happens when she has to duel her own emotions?
“Fly me to the moon”
“Let me play among the stars…”
Yes, this song stuck in my head. Although it is more appropriate for the next project, but it also works in this one too.
Really liked the new version that I have done. Have a read of the remastered part :)
“No… No! Shut up! To hell with you! I won’t listen to any of your disgusting words!”
Avernus pounced from his seat and scrambled into Velvet’s room. He watched Velvet strangling Laphicet as the boy was choking to his death.
Avernus’ shout pulled Velvet from her dream and released Laphicet as the boy stumbled to his back.
She glanced horrifyingly at Laphicet’s contorted face, “What?… Why?"
Avernus raced and picked up Laphicet, patting his chest, "Breath, kid. Breath!”
Laphicet coughed hard, struggling to raise his head at Velvet, “You… You were shouting… You were having a nightmare!”
Velvet’s brow knotted and she barked, “Don’t get close to me like that! You know I’m a daemon, don’t you?!”
“I'm… sorry!”, Laphicet sobbed and quickly broke from Avernus’ embrace, dashing out of the room.
“I didn’t mean to do that.”, Velvet muttered, staring blankly into the door frame.
Avernus walked to her side as she leaned against the wall, gasping.
“I know what you need.”, Avernus whispered.
Velvet turned her head away from him, collecting her posture, "I’m okay. It’s nothing. Just leave me be.”
Suddenly, Avernus yanked her arm and firmly held it. Velvet tried to free herself, but it was futile.
She glared into his eyes. “What are you doing?! Let me go!”
Avernus gripped her arm firmly as she was powerless to do anything else.
“You could’ve freed yourself from a normal human like me. But you can’t, and that’s not a good sign.”
Out of stamina, Velvet abruptly stumbled into his embrace. “I’m so hungry…”, she whispered pleadingly.
Avernus released her hand and hugged her gently. “I know…” He pulled himself away and took off his coat. Then, he opened his shirt. Velvet scowled in shock and confusion. “W-What the hell are you doing!?”
Avernus threw his shirt and strengthened his shoulders. His muscles shone under the moonlight. “This may not substitute a full meal, but it is going to be a temporary snack until we can find a daemon or malakhim for you to eat.”
“No…”, Velvet shook her head slowly from left to right, stepping back.
“I’m not a good cook. You made me some pretty good meals. So now let me return the favor.”
“No… No… I won’t do it!”
“I’m not asking you to eat me. Just have some of my blood. It will be enough to buy us some time.”
She frowned and dashed towards the door, but Avernus quickly grabbed her arm, pulling her back to himself even closer. His body heat somehow tingled her dampened nerves on her skin.
"Listen to me, Velvet! In your condition, you’re powerless against exorcists and daemons! How can you hope to continue fighting?! Have you learned nothing?!”
For the first time, Velvet heard his harsh tone. Like a scolding teacher, reprimanding his student.
Avernus pulled her bandaged hand and placed it over his back.
"Small bite should do it.” Avernus picked a clean cloth from his pocket and folded it, placing it between his teeth and biting it.
However, Velvet lowered her head, still resisting the temptation to harvest his blood. Her eyes disappeared beneath her silky hair. Avernus shook his head and muffled something unintelligible into the cloth in his mouth. The sigil on his wrist crept over his skin like a living tattoo, and slithered to his back. It rotated and scratched his skin above where Velvet’s therion arm was resting.
Blood trickled onto the bandages, and was absorbed instantly underneath them as the therion part of her slurped them all. Suddenly, Velvet tasted his blood and her eyes flared up, burning in a hot flame and breath escaped her lungs, gasping at its heavenly flavor. Her therion arm tore through the bandages and drilled its fangs into his flesh and skin.
Avernus stumbled forward into her embrace and clenched his teeth over the cloth in unbearable pain.
The taste of ‘Avernus’ was unbelievably… delicious . Velvet embraced him tentatively. She pushed and felt only tasty soft, tender flesh under her arm’s fangs. Velvet locked her legs over his waist and pressed her body against him with enough force to make them both fall. She was delirious with joy, in a blissful fantasy as she sated her hunger with a tasteful snack. Velvet went for his neck and dug her teeth into his vein in a sucking motion. It was just a reflex to a suppressed feeling. A song of triumph and satisfaction rose within her, and Velvet moaned in pleasure.
But, for Avernus… it was Death revisited. The void had yawned and was absorbing his soul in excruciating pain. It was the worst way to go and he was helpless to stop it. His consciousness flickered away like a fading candle as the darkness enfolded him into her infinite embrace.
Happy Berseria 4th anniversary! The cover for Lady Calamity’s Alternative Delights has been done!
From now on, I have decided to always include something of Avernus with Velvet’s solo pictures. There are a few occurrences of my arts posted somewhere else without permission (I would never permit reposts) and even presenting the first few arts of VelvetxAvernus as VelvetxSorey. So, sorry, especially canon purists, No more only-Velvet arts from me.
Bringing ‘Lady Calamity’s Alternative Delights’ to Wattpad and here is a sneak peek from the book cover. Probably going to try new things too.
