Pink Elephant Records is an LGBT record store in Tempe, Arizona. Arizona is not a great place for LGBT people overall, and thus we don’t have a lot of good LGBT friendly places to go to in the Phoenix area. They rely a lot on ASU traffic and had a really slow season this summer while school was out.
They have until Monday, December 9, 2019, to come up with $3,000 to pay overdue rent for the store. If they can get $20,000, they can pay off all their debt and restock for the holiday season. This is a link to their GoFundMe [x], please consider donating and supporting a local LGBT establishment!
They also have a “no platform” policy and don’t sell content from known abusers.
Please help them out!! I’m gonna try and drive up there tomorrow myself
Below, she saw men whirling, wreathed in flame, hands up in the air as if caught in the throes of some mad dance. A women in a green tokar reached for a weeping child, pulling him down into her arms to shield him from the flames. Dany saw the color vividly, but not the women’s face. People were stepping on her as they tangled on the bricks. Some were on fire.
Then all of that had faded, the sounds dwindling, the people shrinking, the spears and arrows falling back beneath them as Drogon clawed his way into the sky. Up and up he’d born her, high above the pyramids and pits, his wings outstretched to catch the warm air rising from the city’s sunbaked bricks. If I fall and die, it will still have been worth it, she had thought.
Dany, ADWD
Oh my, this is so perfect: Dany might want to protect people from monsters, but she’s the one who unleashed them on the world. And because they are “her children”, she refuses to accept how monstrous they are.
“Dany might want to protect people from monsters, but she’s the one who unleashed them on the world.”
Yeah, that pretty much sums up her entire arc in slavers bay.
Question: Lia was so cute in this chapter!! Being all proud of Uma for beating her. Deciding she would leave the castle just for Uma. Ben's going to be so excited, I can't wait for his reaction (and also Mal's reaction because she's going to be terrible about everything). Now I can't help but imagine what would have happened if Lia had shown up earlier and been around for the events of Descendants 2.
Answer:
Yes Lia is so precious, she’s supportive and proud and bold. And Ben’s gonna be so excited! And Mal is gonna be so mad. That’ll be so fun to write.
If Lia had been around for the events of D2… oh that would have been so interesting. She would probably comfort Ben after the disastrous date with Mal and make him feel better (and probably subtly point out the emotional manipulation that Mal was using on him). Then she would singlehandedly storm the Isle of the Lost to get Ben back from the pirates (and probably become friends with Uma because of course that happens). If “It’s Goin’ Down” still happens, Lia spends the entirety of that time either snapping at Mal for antagonizing and taunting Uma when Ben’s right on the plank and they are 100% prepared to push him overboard, or being only concerned with getting Ben out of there safely during the fight that follows. (Bonus points if Lia “accidentally” hits Mal with her sword in the fight.) And then at Cotillion, Lia would absolutely not be one of the people who just turns their back on Ben after Mal arrives (you know, like Mal and Evie and Jay and Carlos all did when they saw he brought Uma instead of taking Mal back, even though Mal gave no indication she even wanted him back.) Lia would realize there’s something weird with the way he’s acting. She’d be so charmed by the stained-glass of Ben and Mal, because she loves romance that way. And now I’m debating, if Lia was there for Ben the entire time during Descendants 2, would Mal’s “True Love’s Kiss” even break the love spell on him then, if he’s slowly falling still for Lia? What do you think?
Not sure which of my roommates took the electric kettle - it could have been the one who moved out or the one who left for winter break - but whichever one it was is dead to me.
and a shoutout to the two Māori men who travelled to Vienna in 1859, got themselves apprenticed as printers (and incidentally became accomplished ballroom dancers), and finally had an audience with Franz Josef where they charmed him so much that he sent a printing press to New Zealand….which was promptly used from 1861 to print the newspaper of the Kingitanga anti-colonial movement.
Just researched a bit- they’re names are Wiremu Toetoe and Te Hemara Rerehau Paraone and it’s quite a fascinating story.
that part of the dance where hades spins persephone and they’re smiling and she like skips away from him and turns around and they make eye contact and they both just stand completely still staring at each other with hades’ hand stretched out toward her and you just see seph’s face fall and start to crumble and she’s about to start *sobbing* and hades basically runs to her to touch her face and he pulls her to him and they just stand like that for like 5 minutes rb if u agree
