i am literally more oppressed in this world as a lacroix enjoyer than a black girl.
Y’all can’t just go like “Black bloggers refused to educate me so I guess I’ll just click the first entry on google and if it turns me into a n@zi T3rf then I guess it’s their fault”.
The amount of work and effort that you’ll have to go through to get answers is the same amount of work most Black/POC/LGBT+ people had to do and are still doing. We are all raised under a white supremacist, homophobic, society. People aren’t born “woke”. They had to fight and scape through misinformation and propaganda to get the true information while simultaneously dealing with the problems and oppression. If there isn’t enough energy left to explain why, for example, white people can’t say the n-word then that’s fair. And let’s be real for a minute. Y’all know damn well we are still figuring shit out. Y’all saw it when a viral image of Sara Forbes Bonetta was getting passed around as a picture of Harriett Tubman. It’s a god damned struggle on this internet. We’re not your race gurus over here.
Thank you! This is what I’ve been saying for the longest!
People really act as if marginalized people did not grow up in the same society as they did and therefore do not experience the same pitfalls. They act like we have some sort of shield that prohibits us from absorbing and internalizing certain rhetoric and ideals because they’re harmful to us. But fact is, a lot of us do internalize those things. We have no choice. Prejudice and bigotry in regards to us is everywhere. It’s normalized. We’re different merely because we took the time to unlearn a lot of it and still are.
Because we’re human. And that’s what a lot of people miss. There’s a dehumanizing aspect to this. That’s why they expect our emotional labor and expect us to available to them 24/7. That’s why they blame us for their ignorance. That’s why they get mad at us when we put up boundaries. Because to them we’re not supposed to have those. We’re here for them and them only. Tools to be discarded at will.
And people ignore this aspect of it all because it doesn’t fit their narrative or stops their excuses dead in their tracks. That “they did it so why can’t you” logic disappears really quickly. It has to because we’re the thing in question. It can’t be because we realized something was wrong or because we worked hard. It has to be innate. It has to be something they can’t ever grasp.
But we hardly have few examples of marginalized people with regressive beliefs. They exist. Of course they do. How does one explain them or why they think the way that they do? Answer: they don’t. They ignore them until they can be utilized for their goals. Which is the crux of the issue. Again: we’re something that doesn’t exist outside of them and something to be used at will.
Is it any wonder why some of us are tired?
free people is going to hell why is this dress 148.
