    Question:

    He's adorable

    Answer:

He’s not burrowing under all his bedding and zooming around under it 😅. He’s nuts but I loves him (even though he always waits for me to get him out to shit 😂😭)

    Question:

You should be fine to use the elder wood for your snake as long as you sterilize it and make sure it's dry. But we'll have to see your snake to be absolutely sure. (Totally not just trying to see your snake)

    Answer:

It’s debarked now but needs a bit chopped off then I’ll sterilise it and sort it out.

He’s a really active noodle (which is why we got him a bigger viv, he went from a 3ft by 1ft to a 4ft for 2ft, and why I want give him more things to climb on) and wouldn’t stay still for a photo but here he is

His name is Oberyn and we rescued him about 4(ish) years ago. I’ll reblog the photos from when we got him, he was tiny. He’s now just a few cm’s shorter than me 😅😅

    Any snake keepers here?

Our cornsnake got a vivarium upgrade a couple of months back because he’s absolutely huge, we’ve been slowing adding more wood and things to to it but it’s soooo expensive.

However, we’ve been clearing the garden and I have some really large branches of elder wood that I could cut down for him. The barks really lose but if I de-bark it all and sterilise it’s (it’s too big to bake in the oven but I can boiling water it and even tiny bit of bleach it in the bath) can I add this to his viv?

I’ve found things that say cedar and pine wood should be avoided but can’t find anything about elder wood either way. I think most elder plants are bushes so I doubt many people get wood big enough to use, but we have a huge ass elder tree.
