• He tries to connect with his father naively
• He reaches out when in pain over his dad
• Bo and his mom Jackie
• Julie Taylor, how he takes care of her and protects her because it’s the right thing to do
• absolutely baffled by demeaning sarcasm and entitlement
• does whatever lila asks while dating her
• never lies to the women he’s dating, deals with them honestly
• tells his best friend “I hope you get everything…  you want. You deserve to be happy.” 
• he sees a smart pretty girl and he does everything he can to be interesting enough and smart enough and good enough for her, rather than making her accept him as he is. only blames himself when she leaves.
