Not so common knowledge.

no offense but “if i had shitty parents i would simply disown them and not put up with it uwu” is always an extremely shitty take. like. it’s usually Not That Easy™, especially for people who are underage and/or living at home
it’s especially frustrating bc i know people who have had to go 100% no contact w their own family on a permanent basis and it’s…. not easy. even if your family sucks garbage and treated you like shit nonstop, it can be extremely difficult to cut them out of your life like that. please don’t minimize that pain
Also don’t forget it’s doubly not easy for disabled abuse victims to leave their abusive family.
Black Lives Matter is held to such a ridiculously high standard. If anyone who is REMOTELY associated with BLM commits an act of violence, white people use it as an excuse to smear the name of the entire movement.
Cops can murder unarmed Black people and many white folks still jump to defend the police force.
This is racism. This is white supremacy culture.
I love how Rick Riordan has become the anti JK Rowling in terms of majorly influential children’s book author depicting diversity in their books. While JK is a TERF and loves to make everything about herself, Uncle Rick makes characters based off of his students and to help represent those who aren’t often depicted in books or media of any sort. I know he’s not perfect but he’s better than granny billionaire playing victim by a long shot.
the BEST part of mamma mia (2008) one of the greatest movies ever made:
the (purposeful?) lack of effort put into the flashbacks, just straight up putting a wig on 47 year old colin firth, 55 year old pierce brosnan, and 56 year old stellan skarsgard and saying they’re all like 20 (TWENTY) is a level of iconic very few movies possess
it astounds me that every time there is a mass shooting in America, politicians insist that had the victims been armed, they’d be still be alive, when the main problem is how accessible these weapons are. You don’t need guns from protection, you need protection from the guns.
Do you have a source on accessibility of weapons being the problem?
This outlines most of it, although it was a couple months ago I read it.
- highlights how easy they are to access and the inherent flaws in the system which make it so (which so allows high risk individuals to buy these weapons)
- highly recommend; deals with the the blame being put on unchecked mental illness/ ‘lone wolf’ complex where it should be on accessibility
i’m sure there are more but these are articles i’ve read!
