Please be vigilant about your vote, especially so in battleground states like Florida and Georgia with Republican governors who have explicitly shown that they have no compunction about suppressing the vote.
The federal government’s promised one-time payment for Canadians with disabilities who are struggling through the pandemic will be distributed this Friday after months of delay.
The government anticipates close to 1.6 million Canadians will receive the tax-free payment of up to $600, which they say will help offset additional costs incurred over the last several months such as grocery delivery, travel, medication, and personal protective equipment.
To receive the support, applicants must have had an existing and valid Disability Tax Credit (DTC) certificate by the September 25 submission deadline or be a beneficiary of the Canada Pension Plan Disability, the Quebec Pension Plan Disability Pension, and, or one of the disability plans under Veterans Affairs Canada as of July 1.
A one time, 600 dollar payment. Wow thats insulting. The cost of living has gone up so much during this pandemic, and some of the most vulnerable members of our society are only going to get a one time payment of a measly 600 dollars? 7 months into the pandemic?
The Liberals do not have the interest of the people in mind, and if nothing else has made this clear let this example do it. Most provincial disability grants, like ODSP, dont even give enough to survive a month on and the Liverals think that a delayed payment that amounts to less than 100 dollars is going to make their lives easier?
Fuck outtaa here. Tell the Liberals to fuck off, and vote for the NDP next election. They’ve at least tried to put through legislation to help people, and it was only through them pressuring the Liberals that we got CERB and CESB
This doesnt even go to everyone whos trying to survive on disability its only eligible for a small fraction of people on disability most of us get literally nothing
I tried clicking on the Earn Money by Doing Simple Polls, and it had me download two extensions for chrome and then told me the website was not available.
this is just the “anything is possible if you sound white on the phone” except with mail
its also very real as someone who lives in the suburbs i can promise those mailboxes are gonna stay running a *lot* longer than the ones in poorer neighborhoods
Henlo! Your friendly neighborhood city worker here to tell you that WHILE THIS IS A GOOD PLAN, you can just drive right to your local clerk’s office and deposit your ballot there! It’s just like a mailbox, only it gets directly to the right people and there’s no chance of the president’s meddling in the post office diverting or losing your ballot. You can also check the very next day to make sure your ballot has been received!
So save yourself the stamp and drive right to the source!
when you’ve got so many problems and/or such big problems that you can’t solve any of them, you can fall into learned helplessness (where you learn from repeated failures that you can’t ever succeed, and so you don’t try anymore, even once you’re in a situation where you can succeed)
so if a friend shares one of their problems with you and you can help them with it, even if it seems small or irrelevant compared to your own issues, you can prevent or reduce your learned helplessness (because yay, you succeeded! not totally helpless!)
also, both empathy and compassion can help to reduce the distress of those who are struggling and help to facilitate problem-solving and emotion-soothing behaviours (two important adaptive coping strategies… we cope as groups, not just as individuals) from others, so it can often be a case of “a problem shared is a problem halved”
if you feel better in any way after helping your friends, then it’s not as simple as “valuing their mental health over yours”. social interactions aren’t always give-and-take transactions, you might both get something good out of it :)
and on the flip side, there’s absolutely no shame in saying “feel free to rant, I’m listening, I just don’t have the spoons to respond / give advice right now” :)
the number one surefire way to make people remember something is to annoy them so here’s an annoying announcement that some of the douchebags i keep seeing are gonna get mad at and then remember because it made them mad
[sidenote: gay/bi/pan/etc, trans, and ace are not mutually exclusive identities and this comic does not imply that. just in case anyone tries to get picky. you can be het-ace-trans and acephobic/biphobic, aro-gay-trans and homophobic, etc etc. endless possibilities exist for being a shitty person.]
Youre telling me I threw away 10 dollar markers FOR NOTHING
REBLOG to save a life and a wallet!
Plus copics are actually refillable and you can buy more colored ink online for pretty cheap!
So yeah dont throw out copics.
NO NO NO NO!
Never refill a Copic with regular isopropyl alcohol unless you have absolutely no other option.
Copic markers have their own ink refills to go with each marker,
They look like this and cost around the same price as a Copic Sketch maybe slightly more however they can be used to refill a marker several times
By using isopropyl alcohol what you’re doing, in fact, is diluting what little ink you have left in your make, therefore changing the shade of it.
Of course the one exception to this rule is the colourless blender 0 which is a marker that is full of regular isopropyl alcohol.
As a side note, DON’T throw away your marker if one/both of the is damaged
Copic also make replacement nibs for all of their markers
Which are much cheaper than buying a new marker as you get multiple in a pack.
Reblogging to save an artist. Copics are meant to be reusable and I know how hella expensive those things are. NEVER throw out your Copic markers!
The reason why Copics cost a lot is because you’re only supposed to buy them once. You’re not supposed to replace them. There are inks you can buy to refill the copic. The only one you should just use straight alcohol for is the colorless blender, because that is all it is.
So I found this app called Scan Halal where you scan the bar code of your food and it tells you if its halal or not. It’s a free app too. Pass this on so others can see and worry a little less about their food/snack choices
Yessss, it is very handy especially in non-muslim countries
If you reblog this for no other reason, do it because it’ll piss off Pauline Hanson. And pissing off Pauline Hanson is reason enough to do anything.
Pissing off Pauline Hanson is my favourite pass time
If you reblog this for no other reason, reblog it to make a Muslim feel safer, more accepted, and/or more informed about food.
Other people and their needs are not your game pieces to use to offend others or make yourself feel better.
This is actually a cool app! I had a customer come into my candy store and we discovered that certain flavors of the same brand of candy sticks were okay to eat! It was really handy for them to be able to scan it rather than rely on the ingredient list, which could be flawed sometimes!
Ooooh this is neat!
Nice!
For those wondering “why don’t you just read the ingredients”: Even if you trust the ingredient list, you don’t know which “natural flavors” were used, and you may not know where the various chemicals came from. And a lot of people have a hard time reading tiny print, and don’t want to stand in the aisle for five minutes trying to work their way through 95 words of 4-point type.
So glad this exists! We need more ways for people to find the info that’s important to them!
No, but you can misinform. You can with-hold information like the lag time it takes for ballots to get in. You can avoid posting any information at all about how to do mail-in voting. You can discourage it. You can smear campaign it. And you can make it very inconvenient.
Guys listen - REGISTER and CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION FREQUENTLY
Please note that Absentee and Mail-in Voting are being impacted by COVID 19. Go HERE to do some reading about Early and Absentee Voting.
Every state’s rulings/ regulations on Mail-in Voting are different. Check HERE for what’s happening in YOUR state.
Some states are sending out absentee / mail in ballots automatically. MOST aren’t. You need to be registered and you have to REQUEST one and the stipulations for requesting one are different for each state. So check yours for the requirements.
If you are voting by mail-in ballot please be aware that the deadlines for getting those votes in are BEFORE NOVEMBER!!
Don’t sleep on this. It’s coming up faster than you think and I can GUARANTEE YOU that the conservative right-wing pro-dumpster-fire people are going to do whatever it takes to get as many votes in as possible.
The opposition VASTLY outnumbers them, but that only matters if we DO SOMETHING.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO ALLOW TWO WEEKS TO MAIL IN YOUR BALLOT
Man, I can’t imagine a black person getting away with this but it’s legal
Yup. So all those people that were like “just comply even if you did nothing wrong”, hell no! They shouldn’t be arresting you if you did nothing wrong. Especially how rough some of these cops are. More people knowing about this will cut down on these power hungry bad cops.
Reblogging again for quotes;
“Story affirmed the right of self-defense by persons held illegally. In his own writings, he had admitted that ‘a situation could arise in which the checks-and-balances principle ceased to work and the various branches of government concurred in a gross usurpation.’ There would be no usual remedy by changing the law or passing an amendment to the Constitution, should the oppressed party be a minority.
“Story concluded, ‘If there be any remedy at all … it is a remedy never provided for by human institutions.’ That was the ‘ultimate right of all human beings in extreme cases to resist oppression, and to apply force against ruinous injustice.’” (From Mutiny on the Amistad by Howard Jones, Oxford University Press, 1987, an account of the reading of the decision in the case by Justice Joseph Story of the Supreme Court.)”
“An illegal arrest is an assault and battery. The person so attempted to be restrained of his liberty has the same right to use force in defending himself as he would in repelling any other assault and battery.”(State v. Robinson, 145 ME. 77, 72 ATL. 260).
“As a practical matter one should try to avoid relying on the above in an actual confrontation with law enforcement agents, who are likely not to know or care about any of it. Some recent courts have refused to follow these principles, and grand juries, controlled by prosecutors, have refused to indict officers who killed innocent people claiming the subject “resisted” or “looked like he might have a gun”. Once dedicated to “protect and serve”, far too many law enforcement officers have become brutal, lawless occupying military forces.“
OMG I live around there. I am beyond grateful I chose not to attend Weber’s Criminal Justice program.
Guys,he rescinded his resignation and I am physically sick by the amount of support I’ve seen in my community (I live in Utah) that he is receiving because a man “shouldn’t be fired over having an opinion.”
“He was just emotional……Haven’t you said things in anger….Freedom of speech…..what he said was wrong but you shouldn’t be fired over an opinion……Hes a great teacher.”
He’s a damn criminal justice professor! How is any minority supposed to feel safe going into his class?
I just…Ahhhh! My screams aren’t loud enough to convey how angry I get being a BLM supporter in a state that has an extremely small black population outside of Salt Lake City (still really small). I have had to bear so many “All Lives Matter” speeches and pro-police from my husbands family and ugh. My mental health is being taxed.
Cannot stress how bad this is. I live in Utah as well and if people are protecting a man like this, we are in an extensively bad position.
Hey can u guys start reblogging this version and the other ones where they say they TOOK BACK his resignation and hes WORKING again. OUR WORK HERE ISNT OVER YET WE GOTTA MAKE THIS COLLEGE EAT SHIT FOR PUTTING SO MANY STUDENTS AT RISK.
This one from 30June says he’s GONE gone, and good riddance.
“Weber State University Professor Scott Senjo has resigned — again — and the school says this time it will be permanent, putting an end to the investigation that started with Senjo making several threatening comments on Twitter about those involved in nationwide police protests.”
speaking as a Jewish person, this is incredibly important to me.
Christians in my experience know very little about the culture that is found within the stories of the old testament.
All of our stories are deeply rooted in the time and place that they occured.
Leviticus, for example, was when the Greeks were exploring and coming into contact with us.
They had a tradition of adult men having sexual relationships with boys (ages 12 to 17) as a form of mentorship.
The Hebrew people were like “uh no? Fucking gross.” Thus it ended up in our holy texts.
Sodem and gamorah is a big one too.
The smiting that happened there wasn’t because of homosexuality, but rather the nonstop eating, drinking, and fucking to the point of ruin.
Basically everyone was so busy with pleasure that the rest of the aspects of life no longer mattered to them. this was both a spiritual disaster and a very literal one for people outside the city who depended on it for goods and services.
so the two stories that Christians hold as anti gay evidence can be summed up in two parts:
- Pedophilia is fucking evil.
- You can’t be selfish and just party all the time because then your community will fall apart.
So yeah we have never seen gay stuff as bad and neither did your homie Jesus.
also. We have words in Hebrew for several different genders and many scholars believe that King David was gay.
