As the God above my witness, I will drive this car over the cliff if you do this bullshit again
“As God above is my witness, I will drive this car over a cliff if you do this bullshit again.”
“Don’t be dramatic,” Andrés said. “Are you questioning my abilities? I know how far I can go. I am not an amateur.”
“It was too fucking close! If that guard had called your bluff-” Martín cut himself off, but Andrés could see the way his hands clenched around the steering wheel, the knuckles white and shiny. “What if you get caught? What am I supposed to do?”
The silent without you lingered in the air between them. It made Andrés want to reach out, to place his hand on Martín’s thigh, to reassure him. To tell him I won’t get caught, es imposible. But then he remembered how the security guard had raised his gun at Martín, how his finger had twitched around the trigger.
How close Andrés had come to losing Martín, then.

One day, there’ll be just one species. Humans. And at first, they won’t notice the difference because they’ve never noticed us, but gradually, eventually, they’ll come to see that all the magic has seeped out of the world. And they’ll look around them and everyone will be the same.
