in space, no one can hear you scream.
hannibal au where everything is exactly the same except hannibal has one of these pretentious recipe blogs and he just straight up admits to using human meat and somehow no one suspects him anyways and they all think its just a running gag
Nick is probably rotting in hell, but if Satan wanted to torture him with the knowledge, how does he feel when he learns about Izzy?
I can’t find it now (thanks Tumblr search options!) but in another ask we were joking that Satan makes him work a shitty desk job in Hell since technically he’s there as “staff” and he’s miserable but he gets a little TV that shows him how happy Ziggy and Izzy are to just really flavor in his suffering. So yes, Satan most def rubs it in his face gleefully like “I’m not even mad this kid is not beholden to me under a blood pact! Even if he would have been the rare useful Goode!” And probably goes into way too much detail about his relationship with Solomon for Nick’s comfort.
“I let his hotness blind me to his clinginess, and to his son’s shittiness. It was just supposed to be a hookup and I ended up stuck with generations of Goodes. Still though, he was one of the best pieces of-” “Please stop” “Nick, you made me listen to you whine about Ziggy for more than a decade. You will hear about the one-night stand that landed us both here”
i cannot stress enough how you should consume and interact with more than just popular media and culture. and this isnt me saying “read some classics and watch obscure movies made in the 60s” i mean this as in read nonfiction! read articles about things youve never thought about! watch documentaries and educational shows and read up on the history of weaving or how trade systems worked in the 9th century byzantine empire and look into philosophical questions from cultures you’re not a part of!
branch outside of your interests and comfort zone because not only will this widen your worldview, it also improves the way you conceptualize things and will help you think critically about whats happening in ur life and the media u consume normally. also, you might learn some fun things for trivia night :)
stuff that feels rewarding as a fanfic author:
- when your work inspires fanart/comics
- when people point out a scene/particular line(s) that tugged at their heartstrings
- when people ask for your meta of your work that they enjoyed so much
- when someone comments on a fic you wrote 982783113502 years ago
- getting recc’d
- just the small happiness in knowing you made someone out there smile on their way to work/home or at school, in knowing you warmed someone’s heart somehow
honestly? all authors
one thing that always sticks out at me in fandom discourse is this assumption that ‘quantity of fanworks about a thing’ is equivalent to ‘how much people care about the thing’ which I always find a bit ?? bcos for me it’s always been like
YES THIS! I mean, I loved The Goblin Emperor and have reread it three times, I loved the Chalion books, Discworld… but whether or not I love a thing has very little to do with whether it offers purchase for my scrabbling little fannish claws. There needs to be a crack in the plot for that, something left to explore or a possibility ignored, and it needs to be the right *kind* of possibility for the kind of fanworks I want to create, too.
Fandom LOVES a fixer-upper
#sometimes you get a lovely house #and maybe you putter around a bit and paint the bathroom #but not much #and sometimes #you stand there going ‘well this house has Good Bones but some idiot covered it with bad carpet and tried to make it an open floor plan’ #and you have to get out the Sledgehammer of AUs and the Belt Sander of Consistent Characterization (via @beradan)
It is said that the Princess returned to her father’s kingdom. That she reigned there with justice and a kind heart for many centuries. That she was loved by her people. And that she left behind small traces of her time on Earth, visible only to those who know where to look.
How does everyone react to Ziggy being pregnant with dead Nick's baby in the Izzy verse?
It’s never addressed directly. It’s more like Ziggy doesn’t even actively go “hey I’m pregnant btw” except to Nurse Lane, and then the bump and baby arrival lets everyone know what’s up. And yeah they’re hardly stupid, it’s pretty easy to put the pieces together knowing what they know, but they just end up monitoring what’s going on to make sure there’s no Satan stuff afoot and end up being the kid’s pseudo aunts and uncles (this being Deena, Sam, Josh and Martin). I think after everything, and seeing how Ziggy took it and stood by them even though her feelings for Nick were clear, they kinda get it and don’t want to judge her bc it was a wild weird time and they don’t blame her or anything. At that point, it’s like shit happens but also the kid isn’t at fault here and Nick and the Pact are gone anyway and this kid is not a Goode but a Berman. So no one is like *happy* Nick’s the dad but they can put that aside for family and so forth.
Fear Street but it's The Village.
Oooooh. So instead of the Elders it’s just the Goode Family keeping everyone in fear and thrall and actually unawares worshipping the Devil? That’s. Yeah that sounds rad. A bit like Apostle too, actually. However, Nicky couldn’t manage that epic love confession of Lucius’s.
The way Alfonso Nuñez laid eyes on this absolute disaster genius symbologist and went “Guess that’s my genius now, huh. I have no other option than to keep him, do I?” is genuinely the best part about The Lost Symbol.
And that’s not even an exaggeration?
They find a severed hand together, by chance, and then Alfonso gets dragged into Robert’s mess and chooses to just… be involved. He literally offers Robert to move in with him while the CIA and a secret society are on the hunt for Robert.
He didn’t have to do that. He had no obligation to, he doesn’t even know this man, he only just met him and he nearly dies twice in that time, but instead of using that opportunity to distance himself from it all, he voluntarily offers Robert to move in with him to solve this, so they end up researching together over breakfast and I think that’s beautiful.
Muppet Frankenstein, where the only human actor is the Monster, and he has no prosthetics. Everyone just reacts to the one human in their world as a horrific monster. The body parts before the animation are even visibly felt Muppet limbs, but the creature rises as a human.

One of the things I resent most about being Animal Brain Apex Predator trapped in Maximum Productivity Society is that I have to work when the weather is gross, instead of following my natural instinct to burrow myself into something dry and soft and sleep until Optimal Foraging Conditions
It is dark and cold and wet and miserable and I have a warm dark quiet hideaway full of food and drinking water that is safe from interlopers and for some ungodly reason instead of holing up there to conserve my energy, I am standing up in a brightly lit beige room for several hours. A possum wouldn’t put up with this shit. I’m going to bite someone
