no ok but. the fact that there’s so little of the old skeppy that still remains but the part that does still hasn’t forgiven bad for leaving him in that egg. because he doesn’t remember that he locked himself in the egg to protect bad in the first place, he just remembers how much it hurt being there for so long
Just saw a poll on whos the most villainous on the SMP and the Egg wasnt mentioned but Tommy was. Like its a YouTube poll so I wasnt expecting much anyway but. Man
Wait sorry I worded this wrong but I think this is worse actually
Okay hot take time:
Literally everything besides the analytical/theory and Amination side of the dsmp YouTube fandom is sorta trash
sometimes i remember and really think about how c!jack manifold showcased the downsides of the anarchistic society that the syndicate wants: a dog fights dog society.
he comes into c!niki’s hidden city to tell her about c!tommy’s death, and she tells him about how she joined the syndicate and c!technoblade. c!jack manifold immediately questions the beliefs of the syndicate and goes: “if there’s no government, what stops me from killing your chickens?”
and he kills the chickens. and he only stops and apologises because c!niki asks him to.
in a lawless society, the only thing stopping you from committing atrocities is if you care enough about the people, you’d commit these crimes against, to not commit them. had c!jack manifold not cared for c!niki, he could have killed those chickens and walked away.
or: if the person you’d want to commit crimes against has strong enough allies to make you back off. you might be strong enough to fight against one person but not the entire group of people.
that is the same message of unity that l'manberg was built on: no l'manbergian ever stood or fought alone. yes, they called themselves a country and a government, but the important thing about l'manberg was that the president only had as much power as the citizens gave to them. the president’s power didn’t lie in “swords, iron, and steel” - they didn’t have to “kill, torture, and maim” to get their power. their power was fueled by the trust and respect of their people; and if the people doesn’t trust or respect their president, they’d fall.
c!wilbur wasn’t re-elected because people didn’t believe in him; c!schlatt’s incompetence and power hunger fueled the rebellion that knocked him from the post.
in a lawless, anarchistic society only the strongest survive, and there’d still be a clear hierarchy based on who is strongest; in a community, the weak can huddle together, make laws that benefit everyone, and together they survive. in some communities, individuals may have more power than others, but unity makes the group stronger as a whole - and thereby the individuals in that group are still stronger than if they stood alone.
I do think it’s very interesting how this plays into the thing tommy said about c!techno once- the fact that just because techno himself doesn’t want government doesn’t mean everyone else feels the same and thus c!techno is forcing his opinion on everyone.
Wether or not this statement is correct is another topic, but….
Of course someone like techno would be a-okay with anarchy and a dog-eats-dog world. He’s one of the strongest people on the server, he would not just survive in such a world he would excell in it.
Then we got people like c!Wilbur, someone whos stronghold isn’t it things like grinding or pvp, but someone whos good at leadership and people talk. One of the first things he did on the server was implement relationships and, well, a government, because that was the safest and best option for him.
I’m not calling c!Techno selfish, his character is more than that, but he seems to fail to realise that the reason why so many people want to support a government is because that’s the best possible way to keep safe and order. He doesn’t realise these downsides because they wouldn’t affect him
yeah, he’s a very sheltered character in the sense that he’s not experienced being helpless and needing someone by his side as l'manberg has. the only time he’s ever really lost a fight was when c!quackity was threatening carl’s life - and that had nothing to do with c!technoblade’s skills being lacking (he beat them easily), but rather his attachment to carl.
and he’s also geographically sheltered in the sense that the only times he’s interacting with the other characters, really, is in stressful situations. and because he’s only around them at those times, that’s also the only times that someone has actually tried to talk to him, explain what l'manberg really is about - what it gives to the people who live there and depend on it. during the war on the 16th, on the execution day, or during doomsday. and c!technoblade during these events was angry, felt betrayed, and in life threatening danger; he’s not listening to what they have to say, he’s digging himself deeper and deeper in his own ideologies.
and it’s also why he’s not qualified to make decisions on how the rest of the smp should live their lives because he doesn’t know how their society and community works; he sees it in glimpses and most often when they’re in the middle of a war. he doesn’t know these people, he doesn’t know what they need. a dog eats dog world works for him, but imposing that on everyone else won’t work because it doesn’t work for them.
can i bring this vid back? i’m gonna bring this vid back (37s in specifically)
This whole post is full of things I highly agree and disagree with, and it makes my poli sci brain wanna go absolutely feral, but for now, I will save y'all the essay I wanna write really badly and just say, this is a very good post
#dream smp #fuck i love posts about the politics of the smp #like theyre both so wrong and so right #its so akin to real life arguments between political science theorists on government and anarchy #just applied to a bloc game and talked about between teenagers #i LOVE it #i wish i had something like the dream smp to analyze when i was 14 and struggling through ap gov even tho i loved it #anyways#fav
its kinda funny how in Minecraft universe the knowledge of what “circles“ are probably exists but it’s probably expressed/understood very differently if at all; probably as a solid abstract configuration of physical squares that, for instance, might represent patches of farmland and are part of a problem to maximize traveling distances. Makes one wonder how in other realities or levels of reality similar numerical, logic, and geometric/spacetime related concepts are probably understood in much more sophisticated and abstract ways.
holy shittttttttt bad talking about how much he sacrificed for skeppy. and then skeppy bringing up how long he left him in the egg. im going to cry guys
i feel like a good amount of people haven’t seen this clip and it’s a damn shame
(context: the dream team side went to tubbo’s jungle base early before the war was set to start and before the l’manburg side was on. tubbo was alerted of this by george getting an achievement in chat. he shoved everything he’d prepared into his enderchest right before they got there)
[Tubbo quickly puts diamond armor in his enderchest as he takes damage. He puts the last of it in right before he dies.] Tubbo: “Yep, there we go. We got it all in the chest, boys! We got it in the chest! Oh my god, we actually did it! Take the L! You can’t get jack! You can’t get jack! Ooh, ooh, you wearing your armor? You wearing your armor, are you? Ooh, you wearing your fancy armor, are you? Oh, oh, this is unfortunate. Oh, what, you gonna kill me?” [Tubbo_ was shot by Sapnap using [Sap LazerBeam]] Oh no, have I died again? Oh. Oh, that’s a shame.” [throws harming potions at them and then dies] “Oh, that’s a shame. KEKW, boys. KEKW. The clowns! Absolute clowns. Absolute clowns!” [Tubbo_ was shot by GeorgeNotFound. He respawns and breaks his bed] “Absolute clowns. Go on, you—go on. Kill me. Kill me. Where will I end up, eh? Where will I end up?” [Tubbo_ was slain by Sapnap using [Sapnap’s Schlong]] “Oh?” [He respawns] “And now we’re back at spawn. Onwards to L’Manburg, boys! Onwards to L’Manburg! You think they have crap on us? Oh look, they’re now 12 thousand blocks away and we are going to L’Manburg.”
Oof, looks like my posts and asks today have unleashed something in the anons because everyone is just venting away. I love it, but I also have some shit to do, so I’ll get to y'all tomorrow morning <3
#lol feel free to fill my inbox overnight #so i have something to do during portuguese lmao #.txt #aight gonna go be productive haha
While we’re on the topic of improv lore, can we talk about Jack Manifold for a second?
Because that guy is incredible at completely unplanned, rolling-with-it, improv lore. So many really important aspects of his character came as a result of completely uncontrollable or unplanned situations, that he decided to stay in-character during and make a legitimate part of his lore. And honestly?? Props to him!
The scene where c!Tommy spleefed him into lava, which served as a large part of c!Jack’s hatred towards c!Tommy? There’s a really good chance that that wasn’t planned, but instead of just making a joke about it and moving on, Jack made it a legitimate part of his character and motives.
c!Jack “dying” and coming back? cc!Jack confirmed that this wasn’t planned, and it was just a glitch in his computer. Again, Jack could have just made a joke about this, said something like “that wasn’t in the script!” or moved past it, but instead, he completely rolled with it! He stayed in-character, expanded on it, and made it a legitimate large part of his character’s lore!
A lot of Jack’s lore streams, particularly the detective ones, involve him taking suggestions from chat or other people, therefore they can literally not be (fully) planned out. You can see him moving along with wherever the chat’s suggestions, or the silly actions of other characters, take him. For example, that one bit of Puffy turning the detective stuff against him? That probably wasn’t planned, and was just Puffy doing a bit, but it still worked! The stream adapted to fit what was going on. Jack is really good at adapting to situations in roleplay.
So yeah, in short, Jack Manifold is incredible at improv roleplay, and deserves a lot more props.
about the sbi crit post, this is some deep mcyt tumblr lore. idk if you're interested, but the op was a user gayminecraftmen, who was part of a group called "dreamlying" consisting of users wormweeb, georgesoot, georgeeehd and warpedfungusonastick (i think you've reblogged some of their posts?). anyway, the drama connected with them was fucking wild. they were EXTREMELY critical of ccs (especially dream). wormweeb's critical post about dream and george queerbaiting people showed up on kaceytron's stream when she accused dream of queerbaiting and used the post as evidence against him. georgeeehd used dream's doxxed info to check if he was registered to vote in 2020 US elections and who he voted for. they were also friends with ozzie, a twitter user who had drama with ponk and claimed to know him personally. warpedfungus is apparently in possession of some private info about ccs they found online, some of it using wayback machine (or they're just trolling you never know lol). georgesoot is probably the most infamous name. there was a rumor that he deactivated because dream's lawyers threatened legal action against him for defamation of character, but now he reactivated again so idk if it's true. he was also the inventor of ancap!cc!dream and centris!cc!george headcanon (?). also he criticized dream team a lot for being homophobic and toxic from what i remember. they were all very popular "truthers", speculating heavily about ccs sexualities and real romantic relationships between ccs (including minors). there was also a callout post/blocklist going around saying gayminecraftmen and georgesoot are enderbee shippers, but they claimed they were just trolling and joking abt it. but what i find incredibly funny is that they all predicted dream being a trump supporter/conservative in autumn 2020, way before the slideshow and reddit posts came up lol
Answer:
Someone told me about georgesoot the other day, I blocked georgeeehd a long time ago because of some post that annoyed me (I can’t exactly remember), and I actually didn’t know about warpedfungus (kinda thought they were just chill, liked some of their crit posts), but I’ve unfollowed them now, so ty for the heads up.
But anyways, oof. It’s a shame they’re truthing/doxxing scum, because the rest of the criticism, although super intense and out there, I actually lowkey vibe with? Like, I try not to speculate about things that don’t have hard evidence on this blog just because there are far too many people following me now for that to be responsible of me, but… let me just say that I haven’t not discussed a couple of the things you mentioned with people I know irl lmao.
There’s kinda a lot I want to say about all this, but I just really, really can’t. But thank you for the info, ‘twas pretty interesting. I knew bits and pieces, but had never heard the full story.
Also, I am cackling at that last bit because it’s just so fitting. I’m pretty sure I saw one of those posts back in October, when I was first learning about who the Dream Team was on Tumblr, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some part of my subconscious had stored those bits away and manifested it as a light skepticism/hesitation when it came to anything DT-related…
#asks#discourse #this is actually so interesting hmmm #theres so much mcytblr discourse lore ive forgotten or dont fully know about #mcytblr#Anonymous
Not sure which part of the dnf conversation this is relevant to but I have the feeling that it is and have been waiting for a chance to say it: Another thing I've noticed is that a lot of the dnf shippers seem to have crushes on george/and or dream. I've been lurking on the mcyt tag for a couple of weeks now and regularly I'll see dreamnotfound shippers talking about "how pretty george is" and "how hot dream's silent streams are" and so I'm adding that to the table, hope it's useful

I mean yeah, this is a trend that I’ve noticed but never really brought up. As I’ve said before, the thing to keep in mind when creating or engaging in any kind of shipping fan content is whether or not you are doing so for your own sexual/romantic pleasure, and if so, if you’re crossing the line from respectful and humanizing to objectifying and flat-out disgusting. Both intent (subconscious or not) and outcome matter.
I tend to use this example because it seems to be something people in this fandom understand more than me just trying to explain fetishizing mlm ships. Take a woman-loving man, who is into lesbian porn. What matters is both intent and outcome, right? So, if you’re just watching lesbian porn because you find the two women attractive, this is a symptom of fetishizing thought, but it’s relatively harmless, right? But, you need to make sure that your intent does not make you act in a way that is, or say things that are, homophobic and objectifying. A man who watches lesbian porn - not because of the same reasons they would watch any other form of porn, but specifically because it is two women, to whom he is attracted - becomes homophobic when he thinks of lesbian women as objects for his own pleasure, and acts in such a manner in the real world, with lesbian women he knows, with regard to lesbian women in the media he consumes, etc.
A similar concept can be applied to the phenomenon of men-loving women who ship mlm ships. Like yeah, a DNF shipper finding dream or george attractive is relatively harmless in and of itself, but to then take that sentiment and warp DNF to something that is solely for your own pleasure is homophobic. This is the act of fetishization, in which a queer relationship or dynamic becomes the object of your own pleasure, and leads to the many dehumanizing practices exhibited throughout this fandom - becoming obsessed with dream/george/dnf to the point of stalker-like behavior, discussing dnf as if it is not a falsified dynamic that might not be indicative of anything beyond your own fantasies, treating dnf like it consists of fictional characters, stripping the two parties in dnf of any agency as a real human being. It’s a trend that happens in all aspects of society, mostly unthinkingly, and throughout Internet fandom history. MCYT is one of the better fandoms when it comes to this, by far, but it, of course, isn’t without its flaws.
But then again, at least it doesn’t compare to other fandoms I’ve observed, like DNP and BTS stans, where the issue of mlm fetishization was seemingly ten times worse :/
you've mentioned in one of your posts the "homophobia and fetishization discourse from back in January and February". i've tried to keep up with most controversies, so i can judge for myself whether i want to support a cc or not, but that's the first time i've heard about something like this? anyway, have a good day and i really appreciate your blog :D

Lol aight, so this was more a thing on Twitter. on tumblr, I was kinda one of the only people picking fights about this lol. But around that time, there was this whole thing with some big artists on mcyttwt posting Problematic ™ DNF fanart and getting rightfully criticized for it. This instigated a million conflicts between different stans throughout dttwt. One of the main conflicts I was focused on was accusations of homophobia. There was the theory that, like many fandoms with prominent mlm ships, mcyttwt was made up of mostly straight women who were comodifying, projecting onto, oversexualizing, and/or fetishizing DNF. On one hand, I mostly agreed with this theory because of just how gross and obsessive so many people were about DNF, but on the other, I had several qualms with it, including: 1) lots of the dnf antis involved in this criticism would attack any dnf artist, even those that weren’t fetishizing in their art, 2) many people seemed not to understand the difference between sexualization (which both dream and george had expressed being fine with) and fetishization, and 3) the characterization of the mcyt fandom as mostly straight women was and still is pretty false. So, mcyttwt at that time was just a cesspool of horrible takes from both sides, from non-mlm trying to defend all their horrible fanart and obsessive, stalkerish behavior, and from dnf antis using logical fallacies and overgeneralizations to attack any shipper. It was a mess, so I came to mcytblr much more often to get away from it. But eventually, I got fed up with seeing even tumblr stans being creepy as fuck about DNF, so I made my first discourse post to properly blow up- one about how the fandom tends to objectify DNF for their own pleasure, essentially fetishizing another mlm dynamic. Clearly this got a lot of people mad, I got my first influx of hate asks and rude replies (though there were also many people who just wanted to have an open discussion, whom I very much appreciated), and it’s stayed in my mind ever since. Never really got over it, and you’ll still catch me occassionally getting pissed off about the casual homophobia in this fandom.
Also, didn’t really involve any creator, it was more just disagreements within fandom discourse.
ranboo is so funny to me. imagine stumbling into a city with no memory of who you are or where you came from, becoming besties with the president, executing a guy who committed mass terrorism, befriending the terrorism guy because you felt bad, god’s brother or something exposes you for being friends with both the president and the terrorist, people yell at you a little cuz of this but other than that its fine. you hear the voice of god’s brother or son or something in your head but he’s not actually there. terrorist blows up your country but tells you he likes you enough to make you go away before you get blown up too, the terrorists bestie adopts you and you move in with them and now the terrorist is kind of your dad and also youre married to the now ex-president and the ex-presidents bestie dies and comes back to life. you have no fucking clue whats going on and you have a different type of breakdown every thursday. your son is a zombie.
I think that, aside from having enormous bootstrap mentality energy, the “if every one else just grinded as much techno they could ALSO have great gear and withers” argument bothers me for the same reason “if Tommy just stopped caring about his discs it would solve all the problems” bothered me, which is because it totally ignores and even contradicts a major theme of the smp.
Like, ok, with the disc thing it was about attachments right? “just get rid of the discs” is totally contradictory to the central idea that attachments are a good thing, that destroying what you love to close yourself off from harm is a flawed mindset and a stupid thing to do. With “just grind for better gear” it, to me, is just completely detached from the themes of power the smp tries to impart in its storytelling. Why does someone need to have the strongest weapons to be taken seriously? Why should you have to have 60 withers to be treated with decency, with respect? Because spoiler! As we’ve seen with Techno himself, just being the strongest doesnt actually get you treated like a person, it just gets you treated with fear and distrust. So the idea that the whole smp should just become this arms race of overpowered warriors, like that would improve the situation on this server instead of making it wildly, drastically worse, just feels like ignoring the bigger picture.
