Oddly enough, its a case of “your ears don’t hear it but ours do” which is something the Japanese will tell you when it comes to their apparently silent U’s when the U sound follows an S, like in the name “Josuke” for example. Its pronounced “Joe-S’keh” not Joe-soo-kay.” Its the same with North American accents. Your euro ears are simply not tuned to our refined advanced accents
Finally, some quality American roasting
Also, “dja eet? Nah? Y’untoo?”
Reagan nixed it, paving the way for propaganda “news” channels.
What really bugs me is that people present that fact as some kind of gotcha, a ‘Well, if you do this, you’ll have to lose CONSERVATIVE TALK RADIO!’
Like that’s a BAD thing? Sounds like a fucking win/win to me!
Presenting both sides of controversial matters is how you get so many people who don’t believe in climate change.
No, we have people who don’t believe in climate change because they see a bunch of experts who just state things outright without explaining the hows and whys, and so they look to other people who also don’t understand and say ‘well, we don’t understand, so it can’t be true!’
climate change denial is not from a heated debate of both sides, and honestly if your position on an issue cannot survive letting people hearing anything else about the subject…
And I say all this as someone who knows climate change is real! Just. people who believe the world is flat don’t do so because they’ve heard a debate between equal sides and decided stupid was right, it’s because they don’t understand what’s going on, and as they don’t understand the complex explanation, they go for the easy and stupid one that’s entirely false.
“We shouldn’t present both sides of the issue because someone might come to the wrong conclusion” is very, very worrying thinking. You don’t want to step one foot, one toe on that road.
“We shouldn’t present both sides of the issue because someone might come to the wrong conclusion”
You say this like it’s a bad thing but it’s unironically true. Not every issue is equal. Not every issue should be presented as having two relatively equal and opposite sides because not every issue HAS relatively equal and opposite sides.
In the case of climate change, we have a side that the data objectively supports, and a side that has absolutely no standing whatsoever. Yet when the media puts on say, a climate scientist having a debate with a fossil fuel puppet, people watching that debate are going to assume that both sides have merit. Or even believe that absolute lies that the climate skeptics spout.
In other words, in this situation you would have told the lawyer to shut up because we didn’t need to hear both sides since that man was obviously guilty and needed to be hanged.
But I guess you lack the higher brain functions to make decisions, so you need daddy state to chew your food for you.
If you can’t reblog this, unfollow me now.
it’s fucking disgusting that i just lost 6 followers
It’s kinda sad that I have to stop and think “are we talking actual Nazis, or anyone right-wing?” before I reblog. Because too many people misuse the term.
A few years ago, there was a backlash against jokes about Nazis, because it was “trivializing” Nazis. I wonder how many of those exact same people have no problem with folks who throw around ‘Nazi’ at the slightest dissent, which is actually trivializing the term.
So, I really like doing Picrews but I’m also Black, SO! I decided to compile a list of picrews and dolls that had a wide range of skin tones, option for Black facial features and Black hair options THAT MAKE SENSE. If you find anymore please add on! These are my favs to go back to 😁

So happy to have found this! Jazz Age evening wear is so much fun and Tiana looks perfect from the little curls framing her face and headpiece to the delicate beaded dress and shawl. And the swamp motif!
[Caption: painting of Tiana, from Disney’s The Princess and the Frog. She’s sitting by a table, preparing food, and she’s wearing a white dress and headpiece (with pearls holding her hair, a flower, and feathers), era-appropiate, and a gree shawl. The wall has green and blue tones, resembling a swamp.]

I love found family as much as the next girl but the fact that Bilbo goes home at the end of the Hobbit is so fucking funny to me. “Yes, we had a life changing experience together and I’ve saved all your lives. What of it? I miss my arm chair. Good morning.” ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS.
