Lepidoptera study - 05/01/21 - Agrius godarti, “Godart’s Hawk Moth”
Taxonomy: Superfamily Bombycoidea; Family Sphingidae; Subfamily Sphinginae
The Caterpillar has yet to be photographed. The caterpillars are initially pale green with the tailhorn being short and black. They develop a dark dorsal line, with a pair of pale yellow sub-dorsal lines. Late instars develop a brown or black dorsal line, or just become brown or black. They also develop a series of diagonal pale yellow lines on the side of each abdominal segment.
The food plants include: Salsola australis “Rolypoly” and Convolvulus erubescens “Australian Bindweed”
This species has been found across south-east Asia, including: Bali, Borneo, India, Macao, New Guinea, Philippines, and Thailand. As well as NT and QLD, Australia
