Ah man, I forgot that Inyuasha had a sequel. Fell off my radar after the voice actor for that monk passed away. but before that I think everyone was screaming about how Sesshomaru had a kid with an underaged girl, like yeah that's shitty but isn't he a bad guy, and takes place in an equivalent of the dark ages where that literally wasn't even considered a bad thing? Like everyone was genuinely upset that this guy who was never morally upright did something morally wrong. It was just puzzling to me. For the record I'm talking about Inyuasha's brother, I don't actually remember his name.
And the funny thing about it is I don’t even believe trying to show Sesshomaru being morally bankrupt is why that happened. All you have to do is look at Japan, look at anime and go “Yep; sounds about right” because Inuyasha was also out here chasing a high schooler. Kagome just had height on her side to visually throw that shit off but before Final Arc she was 15.
They just had a ship and they went with it and whether or not people wanted to make themselves blind to that is on them. Sesshomaru had a grooming arc. That’s just canon and people really sat through this entire series seeing everything that they saw happen WITH THEIR EYES only to get to Yashahime and act like they just jumped into this universe for the first time in their lives. Like, let’s not start jumping on our moral high horses now. I know their asses watched Inuyasha back once Yashahime was announced.
They watched it, probably even shipped it themselves when they were younger because we know how fandoms can be and now they got what they wanted. Congratulations; dreams do come true.
