Here’s the commercial a few of us New Media Artists put together last weekend for the Arby’s video contest.
I’m happy to inform you that New Media Artists Network will continue to operated through this meetup page. The hosting fees were paid thanks to all the members who contributed to the fee!
Over the next few weeks and months I will be doing all that I can toward the goal of making this group a larger, more organized, reputable organization. An organization that can be a valuable resource to its members, their projects, their education and expanding their creative network.
I look forward to projects, both for profit and not, that will keep us creative well into 2012. As NMAN further develops the posture of a Non-profit organization, more opportunities to raise operating capital will become available. Thus many more opportunities will be presented for members in the form of projects, workshops project development funds ect.
But I need your help! We need your help!
Here are five ways you can help now.
1. I wold love to hear from each and every member exactly what it is they want from this group. Then we will work toward making it happen. Email me email@example.com
2. Reach out to your fellow members. After all this is a network so seek the talent with in this group.
3. submit your ideas. Let NMAN members help you develop, produce or promote it.
4. Attend meetings. I will try to have a face to face meet and greet meeting once a month. If you attend you will not only know whats new with the group, but you will be able to help develop ideas and plans as well.
5. Tell others about the New Media Artists Network. This group for is for all types of creative people, the more the merrier.
So with your help, we can make New Media Artist Network a powerful resource for creatives in our area.
All the best!
Greetings fellow New Media Artists.
This “Meetup” was launched over a year ago with the hope of connecting the creative community of the greater Piedmont Triad area. The vision and mission have not changed. My wish has always been to bring more people together so we can build this organization into something great that will benefit many people in many ways. The Meetup.com page is it’s foundation for keeping members connected. I am at a place where without support, this vision will not manifest.
The meetup.com account is 2 days away from being canceled if the hosting fees are not paid. Some members of this group have made donations but we still need $40 to satisfy the fees and continue to build this organization. If 40 of you are interested to see this group continue, all you have to do is donate JUST A $1. If more members do not step up to support this group, then the message will be clear and the New Media Artists Network will be no more.
Please visit the NMAN MEETUP page and click the “1.00 TIP JAR” link on the left of the page to make your donation via paypal.
All the Best!
There’s only one week left before the Meetup.com people shut NMAN down.
Please drop some money in the NMAN “tip jar” on the left side of the meetup page.
We need $60 to keep things running with this site for the next six months.
Thanks to the members who already made a contribution.
Be Creative. Stay Creative.
Sounds “Corny” but this contest is awarding $7,500 to the best video…
Since 1953 State Fair has been delivering corn dogs to the masses. They are now the leading brand in the highly competitive fully cooked frozen corn dogs market in the U.S., and they want our help preserving their spot at the top!
State Fair has the highest awareness, loyalty and liking brand attribute scores in the category, and their products can be found in all major retailers around the country. They are in direct competition in the corn dogs category with both branded players and private label offerings. In addition to this, State Fair competes against other substantial snack items like chicken nuggets/tenders, hot dogs, frozen pizza, etc.
Your mission, should you choose to accept, will be to create videos that portray “simple family fun” in a contemporary fashion. We are looking for videos that demand viewers’ attention while engaging them with the brand. Submissions can be quirky, funny, progressive and/or slightly edgy with no more than a PG rating.
Videos should be :30 – :90, with :60 being optimal. Online will be the intended channel of use.
Submission Deadline is August 8th, 2011
If you are interested in participating in this project please reply asap to firstname.lastname@example.org or on the discussion boards. Project development will begin in about a week.
All the best!

Greeting Fellow New Media Artists!!!
Let’s make a commercial and win $9,000
Heelys is the company that makes the kid sneakers with the wheel in the heel. I’m sure you’ve seen some kid wiz past you in the mall with them on. Well they want a 30 second commercial that will help attract their 5 to 14 year old demographic. They will award the best video $9,000 and will run the ad during the holiday season of this year.
Objective– The video is to show that Heelys are out there and can be found in a variety of different uses; the more the consumer sees it being used, the more they want in on the action.
The primary focus should be on the classic one-wheeled Heelys product. The other products can appear in your video, but make sure the main focus remains on the one-wheeled product.
Message- It is a fun and unique activity that allows the consumer to traverse their world on their own terms, in their own way - Fun, Freedom and Fearless
Tone- The tone is to portray Heelys as young, energetic, engaging and relevant- edgy and/or funny are welcome.
Submission Deadline- August 15th, 2011
We will be structuring a team over the course of the next two weeks.
If you are interested in participating in this project
Please email email@example.com or post on the meetup discussion board asap.

Use art to turn the world inside out
You are to be complimented and thanked for this effort. You obviously put a lot of energy into this. Thanks from all of us for providing a vehicle through which we can effectively share our various projects. Hang in there.
The Future Of Art! Love it!
Greetings New Media Artists!!
I hope everyone is doing well and sticking to your new years resolutions, creative or otherwise.
There is so much to do this year, and with your help we can take NMAN to the next level, and have some fun too.
Our goal this year is to collaborate on many projects. There will be many opportunities to bring your ideas and talents to the table. Most of the projects will involve video production. That includes the need for many skill sets from music production to voiceover acting. Some projects will be for fun, competition, or for profit.
I would like to see some of our members get more exposure and paying gigs too.
So we should be on the lookout for those opportunities. I you notice anything that may be great for the group please share on the discussion board or Facebook page.
As per our last meeting we discussed ways to get NMAN out into the community, and raise money toward our own success. We need your help to promote the group and encourage support from the artist community. The power we possess as a network is great if we actively participate, support each other on individual and collective levels. This activity will ultimately gain us the public attention, creditability, and greater community support.
Some ideas from last year will be implemented, and as always we are open to new ones, so send them our way. Share your ideas publicly on the meetup or Facebook page, or shoot me a private email. Better yet lets meet face to face over a cup of coffee and brainstorm, I love to brainstorm. You can reach me by email anytime. EHPHEX@gmail.com
As you may know the NMAN Blog is up and running.
https://newmediaartists.tumblr.com/ Think of this as our billboard. Fell free to post anything art related, self promotions, information, events or creative thoughts. This site is a work in progress so all you web media artists, let me know what could be done to make it better. Ultimately we would like to have an internal database for all members to have access to.
In conclusion I want us all to have a successful year, on an individual level as well as collectively. Together New Media Artists can achieve some great things and have fun creating art together. I hope to see you at the next meetup as we discuss plans on how we will do just that.
All the best!
THE 99 Americans Project, By Photographer Doug Klesch
This post is an excerpt from an article I stumbled upon while surfing the net. It describes what the New Media Artists Network is about.
Click link to read entire article:
The unfortunate thing about trade associations and online websites devoted to one particular field is that they don’t help foster creative collaborations across disciplines. An illustrator is unlikely to connect with a photographer in the Society for Illustrators. With the rise of distributed creative production and more independence for creative professionals, we will need to connect and collaborate with creative talents that are different from our own.
I anticipate formal alliances between industry associations. Online websites and industry blogs will become multi-disciplinary (rather than serve, say, just designers or architects or photographers). We will also start to see more co-working arrangements and shared studio space between professionals from different fields. The rise of collectives and loosely assembled creative teams will support the increasing need to connect and collaborate across creative fields.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
The New Media Artists Network started this time last year and I remember the first meetup like it was yesterday. There was a lot nice people who came out and joined the group to help get this group off the ground. We collaborated on a few projects and had some fun discussions and plans for making the creative community grow in the triad area. I look forward to continuing this in 2011.
Come out on the 21st and share your creative resolutions with other artists. I’m excited about this year, and all the great things we can do.
See you soon!
All the best!
