tag the oc that has sex to cope with their intimacy issues
god my soft spot for ortega….. is the size of the ocean. i can’t help it. i think i’m over it and then i see fanart or read something about him and i have to stop whatever i’m doing to sigh wistfully and dramatically
Hi everyone! I want to have a candid discussion with you with regards to the askbox on this blog.
I deliberated on whether or not to post this for a long while, because I understand that this can come across as ungrateful or immature of me. Please know that I am thankful for all the attention the game has gotten, and I understand that requests and asks of all natures are an extension of that interest. I’ve derived so much motivation and insight (and bug reports!) while running this blog, and I want to be clear that I appreciate all of it. Much more than I can say.
However, it can be discouraging for me to see certain asks almost on a weekly basis, and I think it’s important to the game’s development that I mention what they are in specific. I know a lot of these asks are well-intentioned, so please don’t take this as a call-out post or anything like that. This is me setting boundaries–ones I hope you’ll respect.
So. Here we go.
Please stop asking me to make Saine an RO. His identity is not only an important piece of representation I am not willing to compromise on, but also a defining feature of his individual character arc. You would know this if you picked his scenes in the demo, so I can only surmise that you either (a) were not interested enough in him to pick his scenes, or (b) saw the scenes, saw why he isn’t an RO, and decided to request this anyway. I hope you can see why either of these scenarios would be dispiriting for me to read, often multiple times a week.
Please stop urging me to ‘hurry up’ the Arcadia section of the game. I appreciate that you find the White Fangs compelling enough to want to reunite with them quickly. However, the Arcadia arc is vital to the series’ overall plot, and is necessary to establish a baseline of rapport with Tahlia and co., so that their side is viable as a path to take. I cannot and will not bend the story to suit your tastes, no matter how many times you ask (and no, I promise you Tumblr did not eat any of your asks!)
Please do not ask me to reconceptualize entire schools of magic. Implementing these sorts of suggestions would necessitate me to overhaul entire combat scenes and re-storyboard future ones, and that’s resource I’d rather spend on advancing the story. The game communicates what you should expect from each school prior to your specialty selection, and I’d argue it does a fairly good job of it! If you don’t find it appealing at first glance, there are three other schools for you to choose from; please do that instead.
(Note: This is categorically different from telling me that certain schools feel over- or underpowered! These are things I’m currently tweaking and will continue to tweak. These are definitely welcome, especially around the time of a new build’s release.)
If you are one of the people who made these requests via the askbox in the past, please know that I harbor no ill will towards you. The fault is also mine for not being clear with my boundaries and what I consider constructive input and asks. But now that I’m putting this out there, I hope for your respect and understanding.
The Northern Passage has been updated!
Time to see what the curious rogue hunter has in store for you in Blackwater…
At long last we have reached the final Blackwater branch… as usual, there are some minor fixes here and there, mainly typos and some coding errors in earlier scenes, but otherwise the only new content is Noel’s route.
All of the Blackwater branches are now available, with the demo ending right before they reconvene back at Jack’s. This final push to finish the branches was rough for me, and I definitely think it shows in this update, but I hope you all enjoy it nonetheless! No new content warnings.
You will have to play from the beginning to trigger scenes correctly. (Sorry, this is something you should always just expect from my updates… I tend to break the game every time…)
New total word count: 234,107 (excluding code)
Out of the ROs, who's the most possessive? Also love the game so far, keep it up!
Weirdly enough, probably K? Maybe Rosy. Let’s call it a tie.
K is more immature about their possessiveness (“This person is my person and no one else can touch or look at them because I don’t like it”), whereas Rosy is the “you are my everything” version of commitment (they bring the ring).
woke up thinking about F this morning and how underappreciated and undervalued they are. I pity anyone who has not experienced the serotonin benefits that comes from the F route.
I’d like to do something for the F-mancers out there (not sure what yet)
so if you have played the F route, please tell me in the tags:
- who’s your F-mancing detective/oc (do they overlap with other routes)
- do you romance felix or farah
- whether the F route is your main
- whether you choose the carousel or sideshow (or both, but then you missed the fortune telling scene)
- if sideshow, whether you gave F the necklace
- whether you started a relationship in book 2
- whether you kept it a secret (and when, if applicable, you revealed the relationship)
- whether you rescued F or Sanja
K not having a preference about pet names but become possessive of it sounds like K is just setting themself up to be called Kennykins- "DO NOT call me Kennykins unless your name is Button or you desire death."
Fun fact: Glitch’s nickname for K is “Kenzie” (aka Kent/Kenna Z). I think it’s only discoverable via one of the smaller side options in-game though.
im thinkin about… all the times A has smiled or laughed in book 3 so far 🥺
Yusuha is here!
Power shoulders. Crop top. Skin-tight black leggings. Billowing sleeves. Gold-enameled belt. The rope from Adrian’s fanart. Yusuha’s combat outfit is far from practical and takes forever to get into…but such are the sacrifices one must make to be the most dashing assassin in all of Nightsaber.
(The only thing he hates more than unnecessary bloodshed is Eli’s fashion sense. Trust and believe that he’ll have plenty to say about that!)
Yurui is up next!
Let’s also not forget that the detective shows up at the Warehouse soaking wet with their pajamas clinging to every curve of their body — something book one M would’ve absolutely gone into a lust-filled haze over — and yet the only emotion going through M’s head upon first seeing this is WORRY.
ok but M feeling guilty over what happened at the bakery even if the detective didn’t seem bothered by it and apologizing to them and dropping the petname and calling them by their actual name for the first time ever and looking so distraught and genuinely confused because they don’t understand what’s going on but they just know that they don’t want the detective to be mad at them AND ALSO how they’ll wrap their arm around the detective to walk them to their room if they acted like nothing was wrong when they first got to the warehouse, even though they’re wet and covered in plaster and the strong smell from yu’s bath water and its probably not a nice sensation for M but they don’t even mind because its their detective. and how they actually admit out loud that with them its different. and also when they immediately get protective/possessive over the detective when bobby shows up and later when they kiss the detective’s cheek in an act of innocent affection with none of the usual flirting behind it
not me lurking the tags and finding out i missed out on N going full vamp because my natemancer fought the trappers off himself
wayhaven crashed dashingdon again, so i wanted to take a second to remind y’all that dashingdon is run by one person, who’s unaffiliated with cog & does this for free out of love for these games. if you wanted to toss him a few bucks to help with server costs, he has a ko-fi.
The Wayhaven Chronicles: Book Three—FINAL DEMO OUT NOW!
Here it is guys! The final demo for The Wayhaven Chronicles: Book Three is now available!
This demo will be the last one released for Book Three, and contains chapters 1- 6.
I truly hope you enjoy it! <3
hi! i played the demo today and i absolutely loved it! i'm super into the story and in love with your writing and your characters (especially my child! 🥺), the main group seems to be so tight and affectionate, it really feels like a family ❤ i can already tell this is gonna be one of my favorite IFs :) question: i'm from south america and i'm not super familiar w/ english history (outside period dramas lol), so i'm not sure When old england is supposed to be! is it like medieval times? (1)
(2) what type of technological advances did they have available to them? is there any historical fashion style that you think of when you write the characters? and what about naming conventions, do you use a specific time period for the characters? lol i’m sorry for bombarding you with questions! i genuinely love the setting so far and wanna know more to develop my mc(s) accordingly 🤭❤️ thank you for taking the time to answer! i wish you all the best 💕💕
Ooooo! A history query! 😄
I love a history query!
Currently only the prologue and Chapter 1 are available to play.
Happy reading, please let me know of any bugs or errors you might encounter.
The Mire is a vast expanse of marshland, bog, and swamp, all rolled into a treacherous slurry. People have long clung to the out edges of its waters, the rivers and lakes are plentiful with fish, and the banks and islands are rich with game.
But the area is also home to creatures far higher on the foodchain to the human’s who tentatively tred near. No settlement survives beyond the mainland’s shores. Aldmirham is the only exception, managing to eake out an existence near the western shore. Built upon two islands, it is home to those who make their living on the riches the Mire provides, and those who suffer under it’s ever changing whims.
You take on the role of a young traveller, the single carer of a seven year old child. Whilst making your way back to the town one day, the child spots a strange shape on the banks of the causeway, prompting you to investigate. As you near it, you discover it to be a body, half drowned, slumped amidst the tall reeds.
What you do, how you approach are up to you.
