When uncle Rick announced he’ll be writing Trials of Apollo, he’d added that this was the first time he’ll be writing a book from God’s PoV and that he hoped it’ll turn out well enough.
And now, everytime someone says they “don’t like Trials of Apollo because Apollo is annoying and kinda sucks blah blah”,
I just think, ‘Dam Rick you’re doing it all right!’ because that’s exactly how a god would sound. A God shouldn’t sound heroic. A God shouldn’t sound self-sacrificing. A God’s PoV shouldn’t be a stereotypical PoV.
I like how Apollo is egoistic, whiny, careless about others in the beginning.
I like how Apollo shows that a God’s life isn’t easy either.
I like how Apollo is the proof of what immortality can turn you into.
I like how Apollo’s complexity is getting unravelled.
I love The Trials Of Apollo
Okay thank you!
What really gets me is that I actually saw someone rant online about how they were so angry because he was only writing it just because he ‘wants to’ not because it adds to the mythos as whole.
First off… Are you say Uncle Rick shouldn’t be allowed to write what he wants to? He should only be writing to please a-forgive me I’m about to get a little mean- snot nosed unappreciative brat like 'you’? I’m sorry but I’d rather he be enjoying what he writing than pleasing me. If I want to be pandered to individually I will write my own Fanfiction thank you very much. I don’t need Rick to be forcing out book after book because he’s forced to.
And on to my second point. I think Trials of Apollo adds so much to the mythos. Because we are actually seeing the point of view of a god as he grows to understand and appreciate mortals.
One of my favorite parts of the first book is when *spoilers* Apollo admits that gods don’t really change or grow in character like humans do they basically stay the same through the centuries. And I think this shows just how much he can grow by the end of the series. Yes it’s not as big of a battle as the other series were. But you know what that’s okay. I like being able to see some of these characters in a relaxed setting. It doesn’t always need to be 'oh this ancient deity is rising and the literal world could end and humanity is wiped out’. Yeah those are fun but we can take a breather every once and a while guys.
Anyway sorry I went on a rant but I love Trials of Apollo and I hate that people won’t even give it the time of day because it’s a little different from it’s predecessors.
And to people thinking writers shouldn’t just write what they want to write.
Stick a gladius up your glutos.
I don’t know how Peeves did it but he messed with the common room doors. But don’t worry guys, I actually figured them out. Ravenclaw: the answers are either llama, duck, or Kevin Bacon. Any will work no matter the riddle. Gryffindor: the fat lady was replaced with that weird picture of that elf so just start crying and he’ll let you in. Slytherin: you have to either sing all of the Bohemian Rhapsody or do the Macarena for eight minutes straight. Hufflepuff: offer the door chocolate, claim your a Hufflepuff or honorary Hufflepuff, then name a heavy metal or goth band. I figured this out in helping Tula Pellry and her friends get into their common rooms. Slytherin took a bit.
McGonagall is considering keeping these for common room admittance. I’m fine with the Ravenclaw one but man, everyone else.
Do you even know how embarrassing it is for me?? I’ve started just staying in the room of requirement because I CANNOT do that in front of people. Lot more comfy than the old freezing dungeon anyway..
McGonagall said that if all the Slytherins stop staying in the room of requirement she’ll give everyone one an electric blanket with a design of your choice. I wish I was in Slytherin now! Electric blankets man.
I am not dancing the Macarena for 8 minutes for an electric blanket. Maybe if I talk to her she’ll let me stay
What about Bohemian Rhapsody? You could have an electric blanket with kittens on it!
Note to anyone who wants to come into the Hufflepuff common rooms to cause mischief we can and will spray you with vinegar and or applesauce. However if you come with the intention of sharing chocolate we will be all too welcoming.
You know what’s really ironic? We were told Darth Vader was the ultimate evil, untrustworthy, manipulative and that the Jedi were heroic, honest and reliable. However, Luke only learns the truth because the villain tells him. The heroes were the ones lying and manipulating Luke into doing their bidding. And the villain’s honesty, not the heroes manipulations, that allowed the galaxy to be saved.
Which is also a nice parallel to happened in ROTS. Palpatine tells Anakin sometimes villains need to die and he is conflicted because that’s NOT the jedi way. However, when he tries to live up to the jedi’s way by not killing a fallen enemy the leader of the Jedi Order tells him that sometimes villains need to die.
Anakin, being the straightforward and honest guy, doesn’t handle moral ambiguity well. And that’s exactly what we got from Vader, Palpatine and the Jedi Order in the OT. While Sith and Jedi were trying to destroy each other by lies, manipulation and corruption, Vader was doing what he always did: being honest. And in the end, it was that honesty that affected Luke the most and allowed him to choose a path that would save them all.
If Anakin and Luke had followed the Jedi/Sith ways nobody would be saved, not even themselves.
Come at me bro!
Of fucking course
What sick bastard doesn’t
“You’d be surprised”, said Xaldien, who just lost four followers and received a lovely “men can’t be raped” anon shortly after reblogging this the first time.
If I don’t reblog this, assume I’m dead.
Always reblog this
If you Dont reblog this if u see it then i cant call u my friend
IF ANYONE TELLS ME THAT MEN CAN’T BE VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND RAPE, I AM SICKENED BY THEIR MERE PRESENCE ON MY BLOG.
If you disagree with me, unfollow my blog, block me and never look at my blog again.
If you want to debate about this or send anon’s about this, I will reply but your actions have consequences.
Out of 19000+ followers I have, only one of you actually reblogged about this issue, yet a lot of you have reblogged and liked a picture by playboy about catcalling and that how men should never do it.
Additionally, I have received abuse in my ask box (which I will be answering when I can) and threats. In particular death threats and rape threats.
I can see the real problem here already. Male domestic violence and rape is just invisible in our society because we don’t want to talk about this because it just damages the status quo of this fucking website.
I’m a male victim of child sexual abuse. We matter. Please, reblog this.
Please never forget male victims are real and it can happen to everyone/anyone
Seriously if you don’t believe this don’t follow me.
Okay. To the Harry Potter fandom. What is with the hate towards Ron Weasely? Like seriously what’s that about? Like I can understand the Dumbledore hate to an extent but… come on guys?
(this is a legit question because ever since I got into Fanfiction I was shocked with how often he is horribly abused by fic writers.)
No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no… NO!
Hello? Little human? Okay I kiss you now.
Fun fact: the cat is checking the baby’s mouth to see if it is still breathing. Were it not breathing, the cat would commence to eat it.
That’s just blatantly untrue. While cats have been known to eat human corpses, it’s generally only when they’re starving and have no other food source.
Seriously, quit demonizing cats.
Nose touches (as you see here) are a cats way of saying hello. It’s a friendly greeting. It’s NOT checking for breath.
Laying on a human (as you see here) is literally cat cuddling. Thats it.
We have literal records of cats going out of their way to save the lives of children from various dangers, from fires, to dog attacks, to choking to death. Its very easy to look up.
The only cases of cats eating their humans, have always been when their human died and it has been several days without the body being found. Amazingly this tends to line up with the cat not being fed and therefore STARVING.
It’s also a common thing among most pet animals too? Like sorry, your dog will do it too. Hell, ever heard of the the Donner Party? Humans aren’t exempt. When faced with survival, you try and survive.
STOP DEMONIZING CATS FOR BEING ANIMALS.
(And I mean, all it takes is a quick google search to figure this out, but no lets spread misinformation about innocent animals?)
If you actually truly believe cats are out to get you, and are cold and not affectionate, or whatever else people use to justify demonizing cats… You need to actually look up cat behavior. Your cat who ‘ignores’ you? More often than not is just respecting your space. Your cat who lashes out? Probably not feeling safe in their environment. Your cat brings you gross things? Trying to look after you.
Cats aren’t dogs. They have a set way of communication, and while they can learn dofferent expressions of affection, it will always be less evident than with dogs (who are particularily malleable to human behavior.) This doesn’t mean they are any less loving or capable of bonds.
All it takes is a quick google search to figure out why your cat does what they do. And literally, no cat intrinsically wants to eat babies.
are you kidding me, cats are super protective of small children. they’ve been known to attack dogs, snakes, alligators and grown-ass men if they thought a child was in danger. a stray cat in russia saved an abandoned baby from hypothermia by cuddling him, alerted people to his presence and tried following the freaking ambulance that took him to the hospital. they are very sweet and patient with babies and there are tons of adorable videos out there to prove it.
IF I EVER HEAR ANYONE TALKING SHIT ABOUT KITTIES I SWEAR
“cats are not dogs”
And there’s the rub. People have issues with cats because they’re mad they don’t act like dogs. They are a different animal and they relate and communicate differently. That doesn’t make them worse pets or evil or something.
Cats are good and pure creatures, dammit
Okay y'all, let’s have a little chat here.
Like I know we all have our own disagreements. Some of us are liberal, some of us are conservative. There’s people (like me) who don’t like Trump but there’s people who like him.
But the fact that there’s people who think assaulting others is okay because someone is of the opposite party is quite revolting.
I just saw this video of Blaire White who was doing a social experiment on what would happen if her and her bf walked around Hollywood with a “Make America Great Again” hat. First round with her boyfriend was all fine and dandy until it was her turn to wear it. Not only did her nail get ripped off but she also got alcohol thrown on her face by a coward.
First of all, the hypocrisy is strong on the Left Side (something I never thought I would say). They bring up arguments that people shouldn’t be assaulted for their choice of clothes. Yet they say Blaire was “asking for it” due to the fact she wore the hat.
Second, I expected the usual of someone trying to argue Blaire for wearing the hat. But I didn’t think it would get bad enough that she would get assaulted.
It’s just sad that people feel the need to attack others just to prove a point. People are so frustrated that they feel the need to harm others all because of disagreements.
Overall, assault is never okay. We’re all the polar opposites of each other one way or another. But that doesn’t give you the right to hurt others because of their beliefs, clothing, etc.
Before people start saying I’m a Trump supporter, racist or some random Tumblr insult, I’m pretty liberal and open minded. Like I don’t like Trump in any shape or form but that also doesn’t mean that I’m not gonna speak out about this. The fact that there are a lot of Liberals who don’t see the flaws of our side is pretty saddening.
And I hope that both parties get better.

. I’m sorry but can we give respect to the Gorilla in episode 7? He literally calmed himself down so he wouldn’t be akumatized!
I mean it’s nice to see people dealing with emotions in healthy ways in this show. I mean at the end of the day that parking ticket doesn’t mean anything. And it’s certainly not worth turning ‘evil’ over.
Also Hawkmoths face when the Akuma went to the baby instead was just too perfect for words.
A fun AU I had a little while back. I’m actually going to start a drabble series based on this idea.
Essentially it’s a reverse role AU where Solas is the Inquisitor and Lavellan is the Dread Wolf.
I’ll be posting the first drabble in the next couple days so if anyone is interested please let me know!
(please don’t repost this work. OR claim it as your own this took several hours of hard work and shading to get everything looking right. And I about cried when I finished it.)
I’ve shared my opinions a few times about this before, but I feel the need to make a full post dedicated to my reasoning as to why the Inquisitor should be greatly involved in the next DA game, either as a protagonist or companion. This seems to be one of the biggest topics of debate when it comes to the next Dragon Age game and rightly so. So below I’ve highlighted some of the biggest reasons I think it’s crucial Bioware carefully considers its options pressing forward.
And on the note of using the Inquisitor’s losing an arm as a reason against bringing them back in the next game, didn’t Bioware themselves say that they did that not to remove the Inquisitor from the picture, but to remove the MARK (how do I italics on mobile) from the picture?
I know that it’s a little late, it’s been officially announced that we will NOT be playing as the Inquisitor in the next game but they need to be involved to a good degree, not just be alluded to by characters in the next game.
As for the ‘using a new protagonist for every game’ thing… I know that’s what Bioware wanted for the franchise once they decided to carry it past DA:O but if it’ s genuinely better for the story then they’re better off breaking that ‘rule’. I know there’s been a few people who really don’t want to have Inqy as the protagonist in the next game but a majority of players will be disappointed by the fact that it’s another new protagonist finishing off what their Inquisitor started, because it IS personal.
Hmm… here’s my thought process on that though. If the Inquisitor losing their arm was to get the “mark” out of the picture, why make them lose a limb to do so unless they’re saying they won’t come back for a lack of it?
If the Inquisitor isn’t greatly involved in the next game, protagonist or not, it all, for me at least, points back to the idea that their loss of the arm is what is “hindering” them. It alludes to that idea, especially if they aren’t a massive driving force we see in the next game. Bioware has created something that could be immensely inspirational and special to so many people but is throwing it away for the sake of consistency and lack of depth.
Either way, it seems demeaning to people who have disabilities.
And I couldn’t agree more with you – if it’s better for storytelling purposes, why not do it? Why keep tradition if all it does is hurt the story?
I agree that the Inquisitor definitely needs to play a large role in the next one… I seriously wish we could just play as them in the next one because I am so attached to my Inquisitor and it breaks my heart that I won’t be able to play as her in the next installment.
My main problem is if we do see any of the more emotional scenes with certain characters (*cough* a certain egg especially*cough*) the new protagonist is kind of gonna be stuck in the corner awkwardly watching stuff go down as a wallflower and from that standpoint it’ll feel forced and like witnessing two strangers fight in a public place. It’ll be emotional for us the player but it won’t give us a lot of lee way to properly contribute to conversation or the moment.
In other news I’m down for playing as a character from Tevinter (which is what the ending to Trespasser is hinting to I’d assume). I think that can also lead to interesting character arch’s. But I’d almost rather it be more of a spin off game after the events with Solas.
I dunno. Just me?
(for sure my new character is gonna be shipping Solavellan without any real reason besides the fact that I’ll be the one behind the controller.)
I’m working on some Solavellan concept for an AU that I dreamt up one day. Eventually I’ll get around posting but as of now it’s killing me. Been a while since I got to stretch out the old drawing skills. And first time using water color markers.
But gosh darn it this otp has such a strong hook I can’t just stop!
First, I would point you in the direction of this drabble that I wrote covering how Solas and Fenris would interact. But I figured, why not write some more in the style of actual party banter? It’s a fun challenge.
Fenris: You are an apostate.
Fenris: Never lived in a Circle. Never trained under any form of apprenticeship.
Solas: Also true. Does this concern you?
Fenris: Only that you have never had anyone to teach you to resist demons.
Solas: If your concern is that I will become some form of abomination - I assure you, that is quite impossible.
Fenris: Isn’t that what all mages say?
Solas: I suppose they do.
Fenris: I heard you speak approvingly of blood magic.
Solas: I merely expressed that it was a tool, just like any other. If you are to make judgments of morality concerning the practice, the focus should be on its application and not the entirety of its existence.
Fenris: You’re just as naive as Merrill.
Solas: Varric has spoken of her, on occasion. Tell me, in all the time she used the craft, did she ever strike you as the monstrous being you assume blood mages to be?
Fenris: That is beside the point.
Solas: I do not believe it is.
Solas: Many lack the courage or ambition to seek their own path to freedom, Fenris. Your achievements are worthy of note.
Fenris: I do not need hollow words of encouragement from someone who does not know the first thing about being a slave.
Solas: There is no need for hostility. And you assume much about the level of my understanding.
Fenris: Have you ever been a slave?
Fenris: Then you know nothing of it.
Solas: Varric tells me you have spent the past few years hunting slavers.
Fenris: What of it?
Solas: Is pursuing the freedom of others your goal?
Fenris: Pursuing the deaths of slavers is my goal. It is as simple as that.
Solas: So the welfare of those they seek to capture is merely consequential? A side benefit to vengeance and little more?
Fenris: I don’t need to justify myself to you.
Solas: I did not say otherwise.
Fenris: Have you truly spent your life doing little more than sleeping?
Solas: I have spent a great many years wandering the Fade.
Fenris: For what purpose?
Solas: To study. To bear witness to memories and moments long forgotten from those whose testimonies went unrecorded by history.
Fenris: You would waste your life away dreaming of what once was?
Solas: A pity you see so little value in history. I suspect that the past still has influences to bear upon the future.
Solas: Fenris was not the name given to you at birth.
Solas: And yet you chose to keep it.
Fenris: The name I had before belonged to a person I can no longer remember.
Solas: And so you have chosen to carve out a new identity for yourself while still bearing the name your master gave you?
Fenris: Do not try to make it sound so high-minded, mage. My name is my name. It does not matter where it came from. It is only what I am called. Nothing more.
Solas: Ah. I see.
Fenris: Clearly you don’t agree. I suppose this is the point at which you lecture me on how I am wrong for wanting to keep a slave’s pet name? How is it different than the name you were given, chosen by someone else? The only attachment you have to Solas is probably borne from the fact that you have never been called anything else.
… in hindsight I should have known better.
When Hawke romances Anders without having first romanced Fenris, Fenris says nothing.
When Hawke romances Anders (after romancing Fenris), Fenris warns Anders not to hurt Hawke
When Hawke romances Fenris, Anders calls him a wild animal and tries to get Hawke to break up with him so Hawke will date him.
When Anders almosts/kills a mage civilian, Fenris questions his control on Justice, and offers genuine advice in the followup cutscene
When it’s revealed that Fenris’ sister is a mage, Anders chalks up Fenris’ entire fear of magic to “jealousy”, ignoring the years of abuse and slavery he suffered under Danarius.
If you give Fenris back to his abusive master, Anders gets +5 friendship
When Sebastian suggests turning Anders in to the templars, Fenris outright refuses to do so.
If you turn Anders in to Cullen after the “tevinter potion” quest, Fenris does not get any friendship/rivalry.
This is canon.
But please, tell me how Fenris hates hates hates Anders, and how he wants to hurt and punish Anders. Tell me how he wants to hurt Anders, after he tells Hawke that he hates wanting to hurt HADRIANA. Tell me how Anders is a poor, put-upon victim of Fenris’ constant abuse when he starts literally every genuine argument they have about mage rights.
Tell me Fenris hates Anders anywhere near as much as Anders hates Fenris.
You don’t have to agree or like this. But, they do have a point.
All right, that’s really deep and all, but i meant where do the bad guys come from literally? The way you write it, it’s like they just fall from the sky and land on top of the hero.
What’s the old Dalish curse? May the Dread Wolf take you?
And so he did.
Something I’ve been working on between commissions this past week featuring my dear Inquisitor Miera Lavellan. It started off as a sketch of Solas and… well… things escalated quickly #mywholelifebasically
I want this on my wall. But then I realized I’d cry every time I see it so that’s not happening.
All of my DA protagonists are sarcastic sh*ts and I don’t care at all what that says about me.
i am not here for headcanons where fenris and dorian pavus become friends because dorian is a special tevinter mage and fenris has grown as a person
after falling in love with mage!hawkeso they work through it to reach an understanding. i am not here for that.
i am here for fenris needing to be physically restrained the first time he meets dorian. not because he’s being hateful on sight, but because the first thing dorian does is open his mouth and brag about how suave and talented he is isn’t magic wonderful. and they’re properly introduced and dorian says something mildly conceited about the tevinter imperium and fenris loses it and the only reason dorian still has all his limbs is because the inquisitor herself stepped between them.
i am here for varric visiting dorian in the library and administering a tongue-lashing that goes down in history books, i mean, so epic leliana herself is shocked by the words she’s hearing from the next floor up.
i’m here for fenris and dorian n o t getting along. for dorian being all reasonable like he is with the inquisitor and all “well consider my point of view” and fenris not taking that for one goddamn second, and he wants to get violent but he promised varric he wouldnt but. he’s so overwhelmed he can’t even speak. his silence, and the way he turns his back–that says enough.
i’m here for the way varric and the champion personally vouch for fenris–gush about him, honestly–and everyone in skyhold shrugs and doesn’t argue, and how can they, because fenris is great. a little broody and pessimistic, but great. and dorian is nothing to them. he’s already the *evil magister* that no one wants to see or be seen with.
i’m here for every feast, every sparring match, every casual meal, every mere event of interaction in skyhold when fenris is the one who gets to sneer at dorian. when everyone in the room wants to talk to fenris and joke with him and hear his stories
and listen to his incredible voiceand they all treat altus pavus like a piece of furniture and see how he likes it.
i’m here for fenris cursing dorian under his breath every time he walks by.
i’m here for dorian avoiding fenris. at first it’s out of bitterness. then there’s the quiet moment while the chargers are training across the yard when the inquisitor pulls fenris aside and asks, out of genuine curiosity, how did you get here? at first fenris is dodgy. he says, simply, “hawke.” but the inquisitor–well, you know the inquisitor–they’re kind, and open, and fenris starts to talk. and dorian is on the other side of a big stone column and he hears fenris’ story and nearly vomits in the nearest potted elfroot.
i’m here for the time they bump into each other in the pub, one coming and one going, and fenris curls his lip and starts to walk away and dorian says it, then, (when there is definitely a safe escape route), “for what it’s worth, i am sorry.” i’m here for fenris hearing that and softening a little. cursing less. choosing to glare at dorian when he speaks up during supper rather than interrupting him with a snide insult.
basically i am here for fenris never ever backing down from his oppressors, never wilting or conceding an inch when dorian tries to justify anything his countrymen believe in. fenris has his faults, but that is not one of them. he has a right to be angry, and dorian does not.
i am here for fenris forcing dorian to rethink his stances. he can turn dorian into the person he really wants to be. the open-minded, objective, optimistic mage who is capable of unlearning the shitty way of life he grew up taking for granted.
Going to be completely honest. I’ve had trouble with Vivienne in the past. But she put together a spa day for my broken hearted Inquisitor Lavellan and I will never forget that.
I tried to take a picture of my cat Zelda with the glasses for the Solar eclipse. I don’t think she cares.
