Adventurers from above the surface came dowm to explore the dusty caverns yet again. The entrance down led them to the harsh windy Wastelands, as always, that place held nothing for them to present this time as well. No matter what cave they found to descend, there never was that they were looking for. Celestial citizens was always fascinated by the thought of life existing down there in this windy, forgotten lands… An intelligent life, perhaps? But as they hit the floor of the gigantic cavern they only met the blowing hurricanes of dust, coldness and dead, dry grass. Some places held shells of long-gone marine life turned to stone. What was they like? Surely the life down here was gigantic… The walls of underground mountains were littered with them like if this remains were an unbreakable frame to their cliffs. And once again… they traveled far and found no bugs. There were no countries. No even villages. They could not find any trace of life. Untill one night. Was it a bug- A child? Who in the name of farest Stars could forget a child here, in these dead place, in the middle of nowhere? They did not speak. Couldn’t speak. Yet they clearly saw there was a mind behind their pale mask… or was it a face? The mysterious thing held their last drops of almost lost mind as if it will fall apart any moment. But as they led them back to where the descended from, the child became more and more alive, their reactions much quicker and they seemed to understand adventurers’ speech as if they were awoken from a long slumber. There was a rusty tool behind their back that strongly resembled some kind of blade… That blade was obviously used before… And it was made from some kind of ore? A ghost of these forgotten lands. An echo of something they were seeking for. They took a risk and ascended back above the clouds, taking the quiet nymph with them going straight to the temple of Star Whisperers. Maybe this little one needs their aid? “They do” Boomed a millions of voices from the sky, they were ancient spirits who kept their quiet for cenrties until this day. “Raise them as how you raise the strongest star children of your cloud lands. Teach them as an eager adventurer. When they read all the scrolls of your sanctuaries and learn all the known spells of your nations, bring them back to us. Let us see. Let this little shadow hold our weight.” And so they did. The celestian citizens of all nations gave them the keys to all of their knowledge they held precious. And they were an explorer. Alway eager to learn, to find and share. And when the last sanctuary was closed behind them, all the scrolls read, all the spells remembered, they were sent back to the highest point of celestial worlds to hear the decision of ancient Stars. “Let them come back home.” The words were odd to their mentors. “Let them save the others until it’s not too late. A Fallen Star wants to burn their home. Don’t let Her take mortal lives. Her rage is endless. Yet their kin still awaits. They will hold our weigt.” And who could think a lost child with forgotten memories would finally bring them to the place they never found under the ground.
hollow knight au where the dreamers survive but they just hang around and tell weird stories to an increasingly confused lemm like that one tumblr post about unhelpful vampires with bad memory
Lemm: So you’re saying it didn’t always rain in the city? Lurien: Yes, it was actually an recent development - at least it was in my time. The water level rose so high the waterways flooded. We managed to drain the pipes eventually but then the flukes came up from the lower levels and that was a whole new mess. So we closed off the waterways to everyone except the guards and the maintenance staff. Quite a shame really. It was a lovely way to get to the other side of the city without meeting anyone. Lemm: What? Lurien: What.
Lemm: Have any of you actually met the King? I have studied several King’s Idols but that is all I have on what he looks like. Monomon: He was actually shorter than Lurien. Can you believe it? Lurien: I am above average height thank you very much.
Lemm: What about the Palace? I’ve been to the site but it seems to have vanished. No sign of conflict either. Very strange. Lurien: You are better off not knowing what was in that palace. Monomon: *hums in agreement* Lemm: Why? What was in there? Monomon: Tell me scholar, do you know about buzzsaws? Lemm: …No? I’ve never heard of them. Monomon: Pray you never do.
@edens0ul how dare you hide this gold in the tags
@megxolotl you are absolutely right and herrah would be right along with them
might as well post this dumb thing cause again i haven’t drawn anything cause im recharging and some family is home for christmas and i dont want people looking over my shoulder and asking “hey what are you drawing”
Context: feral vessel au Ghost is admiring @deroko-sinnermode‘s royal knight au Ghost cause FV Ghost is like “wait i have a big body now that’s what I look like? :O”
Over seasons Ghost’s “monarch wings” became filled with the void which gave them a decent sturdiness. Now he’s able to fly very long distances even beyond Hallownest! And this is why his cloak is so dark and flowy.
After Ghost grows up, what happens to the Grimmchild? Do they decide to follow in their troupe master father’s steps and continue the traveling show business?
If you love something, let it go. If it comes back, it’s yours forever. If it doesn’t, it never was.
Why is the King laying face down in the Abyss? (I think it’s the abyss)
Answer:
Oh, that was a running joke @noxeorn and I came up with. We were talking about how Ghost and Hornet end up face down during some of their cutscenes where they are unconscious and the next thing we know we were talking about how all the Wyrm’s children have this trouble because this habit came from him naturally, lmao.
As for why he is in the Abyss… Let me tell you about “Wanderer’s Notes” au, I guess.
In this au everything takes place after the “Delicate Flower” ending. That flower sent Ghost and Grimmchild so, so, sooooo far away from Hallownest - it will take them a lot of seasons to get back. This is another fic I’m working on but it’s only on Russian for now and I didn’t post it anywhere yet.
This is a collection of small chapters about Ghost’s and Grimmchild’s adventures through Wasteland, forgotten kingdoms, and lost lands where life is still thriving. I just want to explore world building for myself, imagine how it looks outside Hallownest and all that thing. Also some topics about regrets and self-destruction and a bit of shipping (I’m just having fun here, don’t mind me).
In the end, they will manage to return and there will be more connected chapters with the actual plot arcs. One of these arcs is about Wyrm. In this au he’s pretty much alive, not well, lost most of his power and will, but alive non the less. And after Ghost and GC return and spend some time with Hornet and Hollow, he returns as well. Ghost is the only one to find him and this happens because the Pale King finds the Black egg unsealed and there was no Hollow Knight inside. He goes straight to the Abyss entrance after his discovery and this is where Ghost stumbles upon him (not a very friendly encounter from Ghost side but Wyrm didn’t resist him in any way)
In my version for this au, he left because he wanted to find a way to get rid of Radiance and free his child and almost dead kingdom. He failed, found nothing, and returned to maybe try and find his end as well. Only there were no Radiance too and Hallownest slowly started healing.
Ghost though was worried about what might happen to Hollow if the two were to meet so he sealed Wyrm inside the Abyss in the lighthouse. The shades allowed this because they didn’t want something bad to happen to Hollow too. They just watch over their sorry excuse of a father but it has a big impact on him, the Shades, and even Ghost.
