Okay, so we know that in season 2 episode 4 of VLD, Greening the Cube, we have this little moment when Pidge is complaining about the distress call from the Olkari coming from the forest and not the uber-technological city, right?
(Okay, Pidge, I love you and I’m an indoor cat too, but don’t be doing the outdoors dirty like that!) (Besides, we all know the true terrors of the outdoors are freezing temperatures and mosquitoes.)
Right! Well, that is immediately followed by ma boi Keith saying this:
Now you’re probably thinking “Carlotta, where are you going with this? All we have here is Keith saying he likes the outdoors because it’s quiet.”
And, yes, fair, that is basically all we get. But here’s the thing. Actually, a few things:
1. Quiet and peaceful outdoors, PARTICULARLY involving forests, are totally part of my aesthetic. The fact that Keith, whom I love, appreciates that aesthetic makes me very happy, so I just wanted to point that out!
2. This can and should be fuel for a nice little headcanon for Keith: he likes the outdoors, particularly because they’re calm and quiet. And the more headcanons for characters we like, even nice little mundane and/or bland headcanons (shoutout to @blandvoltronheadcanons for dedicating their whole blog to this stuff it gives me so much life), the better! At least if you ask me.
3. This moment and the headcanon that derives from it could inspire some fanart of Keith hanging out in a forest or some other calm outdoors settings. And THAT is a prime aesthetic and it’s one I desperately need in my life.
and, my favourite, 4. It gives my romance-centric-writing ass ideas for dates involving Keith: he likes taking his S/O (be it Acxa, Lance, an OC, a reader-insert or who-the-hell-ever you ship Keith with) on outdoors-y dates. Like, maybe a fun ride on his hover-bike-thing (I wish I had the proper name for that vehicle of his) through the dessert or some other vast outdoors-y space? Or a nice relaxing picnic on a sunny day under the shade of a tree looking down at a valley like something out of a Ghibli film? Or going hiking on this nice trail and when he and his date get to the end they have this gorgeous view and they just sit down and soak in all that beauty while in each other’s loving presence? Or just walking through the woods or the countryside, taking in the scenery and the nice day, definitely holding hands and being all cute and shit? Or maybe they go stargazing outside and are lying down in the grass on a hill or something and seeing the vast beauty of space above them and the mysterious yet beautiful atmosphere of nature at nighttime around them and it’s all quiet but it’s a good, non-awkward quiet and it’s just full of the love and understanding Keith and his S/O have and they just look at each other under that starlight and just start making out?
What? I’m really passionate about writing romance, you guys!
But anyway! Just wanted to make this post to share these ideas of mine and hopefully inspire my fellow creatives to make some content based on the headcanon that Keith likes the quiet outdoors! It doesn’t even have to be Keith content. If you just like the outdoors-y date ideas I had in that last paragraph and were inspired by them, go ahead and make something based on them! If you have no interest in the romance stuff but like the thought of Keith enjoying the outdoors, you can make something based on that!
For my part, I’ve got more headcanons for some Keith x Zuri dates!
Hope you guys enjoyed this post! I’ll probably make more like this in the future! XD
Plzzzzz, I can’t wait for all these Keiri/Kacxa headcanons!
Family ties and bloodlines are discovered and strengthen as the Paladins reflect on what it means to be part of a family. In some cases, whether they want to be part of a family or not. Pidge and Matt say goodbye to their father, and Keith finds more details behind his Galra family lineage. Lotor and Allura work together as they attempt to confirm the existence of the mysterious realm that is the origin of Altean Alchemy.

Omg i hate that the cover picture for this tag is a meme about keith and acxa being related,, why-
There for awhile it had artwork by @anotherhopelesssoul up, which is better than what’s up now. Either there is a hidden way of pinning a post to a tag or someone from staff is behind it. Don’t know what else it could be.
Watching Kral Zera for the billionth time made me fully realise just what a white knight/noble demon archetype she is. When Trugg tries to shoot Haggar Acxa is quick to protect her. She then glares at Trugg right before hell breaks loose
What does Acxa do afterwards? Save Keith, despite the fact that she already repaid her debt to him in the Weblum itself, and then asks if they should get Sendak.
Saving Haggar makes sense, she spared her and her friends and took them in. But that little question about Sendak? That’s pure honour. It shouldn’t come as a surprise really, since she is intended to be the white knight, but it is so rare to see it with female characters.
It’s the reason she had the asskicking line “For Narti” it was her sense of loyalty to Narti and her friends that overcame the sense of duty to the prince. She is protective of those she serves and fights with. She had no reason to care for Keith, she had no reason to order the girls to not kill anyone in Puig. She’s just a noble demon who can get her way without harming too many innocents.
And not only that, in s3ep6 she had every reason to attack Keith in their fight. When they crossed weapons, it was cause Keith came for her, and not the other way around. And when Keith was wide open to be attacked, she went around him instead of going for the cheap shit. (Which is also a testament to her character - she only fights honorably).
schoopaddie woop i zoom past YOU
It’s part of her knight persona that the creators gave her. She embodies the values that a knight would - honor, loyalty - all are characteristics that knight have. She’s also a pragmatic though, and would not hesitate holding hostages if it means achieving her goal, which is why she’s a villain. But all of these details make for a well rounded characters, and is very interesting to see.
As for her loyalty, unpopular opinion but Acxa as a loyal person would be just as loyal to Allura as she was to Lotor, had circumstances been different. It’s just her character to dedicate herself to those she cares about and people who did her good.
“She had no reason to care for Keith…” *does a little weep*
And finally someone else noticed her running around Keith to fight Lance!
Okay but I’m always a slut for the Enemies-to-Friends-to-Lovers trope where they’re forced to work together while lost/stuck in a hostile environment and slowly build their relationship, first out of reluctant necessity, but then learn they can trust the other will watch their back, then slowly get to know each other more while old prejudices are left behind and character growth happens until finally they’re willing to die for each other like
That’s good shit
I’m just gonna leave this here…
Anti-Kacxas: Keith feels nothing for Acxa! He’s not interested in her!
Me: Yeah, when you feel nothing for someone, you totally don’t gasp their name when someone brings them up, willing rush into danger to save that same person and give them a look like this despite them being a former enemy who was a thorn in your friends’ side because she said you inspired her to change.
Me: “Okay, me. You have to be a reasonable shipper. Don’t reach for shit just to make evidence for a pairing you like—”
Also me: *realizes that Keith didn’t recognize nor remembered Lance in S101, had some trouble recognizing Shiro with his scar and hair, had to have Krolia explain to him that she’s his mother despite the strong resemblance between them, but recognized and distinctly remembered Acxa in S306 within seconds*

Keith is forced to deal with the repercussions of hasty and impulsive decisions he made in the past. Allura is the first to identify the main threat to the universe and she crafts the strategy to stop it. The final two Paladins join the band.
Keith was waiting for the wolf to tell him his name…
So either the wolf is telepathic (I mean, is a space creature, it could be possible) or Keith doesn’t know how pets work xD
Okay, but, time out: What if Keith DOES have a telepathic connection to his wolf???
I mean, look, we’ve all noticed the whole thing about him being unusually sensitive to energy and quintessence. He was able to figure out where that druid was when he fought it by seeing it in his mindscape. He’s had distinct mental connections to three of the five lions of Voltron. He knew when something bad happened to a planet because he could just sense it.
It’s really looking like Keith might have a little bit of a psychic thing going on, so why shouldn’t that connection extend to his clearly magic space wolf?
And all this time Keith has been able to mentally communicate with his wolf in much the same way he does with his lion. But he didn’t think it worth bringing up because he thought, “Well, we’ve all got psychic connections to the lions, Allura clearly can communicate with the mice, I’ve overheard Pidge talking to her space fuzzies like it’s nothing, so I guess everyone else can mentally communicate with their pets too? This must just be how space pets work.”
And at some point the wolf is going to pick a name for himself and let Keith know, and Keith will announce it to the others and they’re gonna be hella confused, because, what the heck? Keith will just casually inform them that he and the wolf have been psychically linked all this time and the rest of the team will lose it.
“Guys, I told you he was going to tell me what his name was, why is this so surprising to you?”
“Because you never told us you had a psychic bond with the wolf and you actually communicated with each other like that!”
“I thought it was obvious!”
Sheithers lie their asses off about the relationship between shiro and keith to people just to appear rational.
Not brothers except Keith himself said it.
Didn’t raise him except Krolia confirmed it.
Wasn’t his teacher but Shiro was his mentor and a member of the School’s faculty.
Wasn’t his guardian except the school delegated guardianship and parental responsibility onto Shiro when Keith got himself in trouble.
Were childhood friends except Shiro was a grownass man with a job and a fiance when he met the pre-teen Keith.
We don’t ship prekerberos Sheith except they have an entire selection of Prekerberos Sheith art and fics to go off on and their most prominent artists in their communities are PROUD of the age gaps and draws romantic art when keith was still a fucking kid.
What a nasty sect of people.
It would be hilarous to me if character designs are revealed and the big thing the sheithers and other keith is gay coded say are this keith isn’t gay coded. Gay coded is a word they don’t know the meaning of as keith doesn’t even act sterotypically gay.
I really wonder how shiro stans would react to the next voltron series has keith as the leader and main character through the whole series. I guess shiro wouldn’t exist. Or worse for shiro stans he has a similar role to the orginal series being the piolt of blue lion for a few episodes and be romelles boyfriend. Especially if he is bisexual and romelles boyfriend.
Confession, Part 1
Okay, Pidge thought, phonein hand, finger just an inch away from the ‘dial’ button. You can do this. You’ve fought aliens and monsters, you’ve got something as simple as this. Just hit call, and tell Lance how you feel.
They’d returned to Earth, reunited, for the most part, with their families. Katie Holt had promised herself that when they got back to Earth, she’d tell him. She’d waited so long. Still, doubt and anxiety remained.
But why? They’d grown so close these past few years. She’d never felt this way about anyone before. And for someone so different from her, she never would have guessed that something like this would happen. But it did.
Just press ‘call’, and say what you want to say, logically speaking it’s that easy, She thought. Then came the panic. What if he doesn’t feel the same way? I mean, we’re so different. We’ve had such close moments but maybe he didn’t think about those moments the way I did? What if-
Pidge’s finger slipped and hit the call button, and her phone began to ring.
Crap. No turning back now…
Her phone rang once. Twice. They were both at the Garrison base, it wouldn’t take long to answer, no more than four or five rings. Her phone rang a third time. What if he’s in the bathroom? I know I wouldn’t answer then. Her phone rang a fourth time. Maybe it would go to voicemail. A sheepish part of her hoped it would; this sort-of confrontation would be avoided. But then she’d be just be delaying the inevitable. She wasn’t sure which she preferred. She knew her heart was beating very hard. Get a grip!
*click* “Hey Pidge!”
Pidge covered the receiver to exhale.
“Hey Lance! Are you busy?”
“Not really, just heading to dinner in a few minutes. What’s up?”
“Well, there was just something I’ve been meaning to tell you…”
“Oh, that’s right! I wanted to tell you something too!” Lance said, sounding like he just got a second wind of energy. Her heart skipped.
“Yeah! Oh, you go first.”
“No no, you go first!”
“Well, I asked Allura to dinner with my family, like as a date, and she said yes!” Lance exclaimed. “Isn’t it great? After so long!”
“…Yeah, that’s great.”
“Yeah…So, what did you want to tell me?”
“Huh? Oh, I forgot. Must not have been that important. I’ll let you know if I remember. Later.”
“Are you sure? I’ve got time if you-”
Confession, Part 2
Pidge didn’t drink alcohol. She’d heard it killed brain cells, which is the last thing she wanted. But tonight she’d make an exception. Obviously, drinking at her age and her BMI is a bad idea, especially when her reason for doing so was to cope with a problem.
Yet there she was, having hacked a grocery kiosk at the Garrison barracks to get a bottle of vodka and some cranberry juice. She wore a hood so she wouldn’t be recognized, and in times like these, ID’ing for alcohol was very low-priority. At least that went according to plan.
After two drinks alone in her dorm in the barracks, she needed a co-pilot, so to speak. She knew exactly who to call.
Team Punk moment, my dorm. Bring water.
Within minutes, Hunk was at her dorm with a gallon of water and a panicked expression.
“Pidge? Where, uh, where’s the fire? I brought the water!”
She was already two drinks in, a third in her hand, and feeling it, as she laid on her side on the couch.
“Nooooope, no fire. The water is for the, uh, it’s for this and this.” Pidge gestured to the bottle of vodka and then the cranberry juice. “I shoulda requestered ice too. This fridge is too slow…”
“Whoa, are you drinking?” Hunk asked.
“Mmmmmaybe. Juuuuust a bit.” Pidge said.
“Uh, okay. Why?”
Pidge sat up and breathed in, holding a pillow over her chest. If she could tell anyone, it’d be Hunk.
“I, uh, I never told you. And I never told him. Lance. How I feel.”
“What do you mean?” Hunk asked slowly, an eyebrow raised. “What about Lance?
“Y’know, at first, I thought he was just another jock. Then I spent a little time with you and him, at the Garrison, and then, boom, we were in space fighting a war, and slowly, I saw more of him. Maybe more than he meant to show. And more than once I found myself…leaning on him. For protection, for comfort…”
Hunk was very emotionally intelligent. His eyes widened as he finally understood why he was there.
“You…like him.” He said, very gently.
Pidge nodded, putting her head into the pillow. She reached for the cup of the third drink she had mixed, already half drank. Hunk pulled it out of her reach, then grabbed another plastic red cup, filling it with water.
Pidge gave him a slight look of contempt, then relented and took the water.
“I had it all figured out,” she said. “Once we’d got back to Earth, I’d tell him, and I’d go from there. Play some video games, have some cookies, nice and easy.”
“And…you didn’t do that?”
“I ran out of time.” Pidge pouted.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean I…I waited too long. He’s going to dinner. With Allura. I mean, I, ugh! I thought after she was with Lotor, he’d finally see she wasn’t interested, and he’d move on, he’d…he’d look at me, like he looked at all the alien girls he’d met in the universe, for once, and…”
“And?” Hunk pressed.
“And he’d see me the way I see him. As more than a best friend.” Pidge took a swig of the water. “I missed my shot. I waited too long. Maybe if I’d told him in the Castle, or while we were drifting in space…”
Hunk put an arm around her, sipping from the drink Pidge had made. Pidge leaned into his chest, and Hunk heard a sniffle.
“Can I cry for a minute? Do you mind?”
“Of course not.” Hunk patted her back slowly. “I’m here.”
They both knew it was nobody’s fault. Not Lance’s fault for liking Allura, not Pidge’s fault for liking Lance, it just was what it was. That didn’t make it hurt less.
This trick legitimately changed how I write.
This works for academic writing too. If you know where you’re going just leave yourself notes to fill in later. I do this all the time,
This is seriously the best advice, and it really helps put it into perspective that the first draft is just that- a draft. There’s no reason to agonize over a particularly tricky bit of writing when you could just leave it in brackets and skip to the good parts, the parts you’ve visualized. I also use brackets for [fact-check this], [use a stronger verb], [is this in character?] and other notes as I write, just so I don’t forget what I want to work on when I go back and edit.
I have also learned this is great for [PICK A COOL NAME FOR A SHIP] and [LOOK UP THE FACTS ABOUT OXYGEN LEVELS] and [WHAT’S THE WORD] and [DOUBLECHECK CHARACTER’S EYE COLOR] and ALL KINDS OF THINGS.
Anything that isn’t critical in the moment, and could be filled in later while I’m currently trying to burn through writing pages that will be lost if I don’t get them out right now? Brackets.
Best trick I ever picked up. Seriously.
This legitimately works like a champ. I use this regularly. Others have said it, momentum is key.
I’m too lazy to do anymore shading… but… here’s my babies! (I love my queens)
Which armor do you like the most?
(Personally I’m a bit more proud of Kiera’s)
So this was born when @toocool2btrue and I were headcanoning plangst during quarantine when the whole thing started (somewhere in march - and the sketch for this was sitting that long on my drive)
I am still learning how to do angst, forgive me
SUE THIS IS GORGEOUS!
