Farrah Abraham - My Teenage Dream Ended
I was shocked when I realized how much I love this album hated by so so so many people. Is it the day my taste was sabotaged or evolved? That is really hard to say and probably all I need to do is to find rare people who is into this that prove I’m not broken :>
The magic I found in Farrah’s crazy non-stop overly auto-tuned voice may just like what I find in Laurel Halo’s Quarantine , which is exactly the auto-tune technology became the finest way to express your feeling, especially the pain, the depression. The haters on iTunes “accolade” the worse version of Friday. However, there’s a total difference between two works. My Teenage Dream Ended isn’t celebrating the weekend. It’s about all the drama and shock and disaster happened on those high school days. The surprising pregnancy, the death of little baby’s father, the disastrous family and finally get up from the bottom. The album is about release.
Actually the album’s production is not that poor even though it is not so appealing as party anthems on billboard chart. If the name was replaced and named after something like Crystal Castle, it might just prove what be treated to this album is unfair. The closing track Finally Getting Up from Rock Bottom is fascinating. Quote the Village Voice, music editor Maura Johnston compared Abraham to witch-house group Salem: “If [‘Rock Bottom’] had been serviced to certain music outlets under a different artist name and by a particularly influential publicist, you’d probably be reading bland praise of its ‘electro influences’ right now.”
How crazy is that? I just think she beats Crystal Castle’s (III).
Holy Shit。Now I’m looking at this piece I wrote about a year ago I do feel was better than I am now。 Stop torturing me my consciousness!
