ok but what is tumblrs weird obsession with hating redemption arcs, do yall just not want people to heal
what I’ve gathered from the notes of this post is that some of y’all have personal issues with redemption and that’s not like. Bad or wrong. But you’re reading of a story is not the only one and may not be the intended one, as such things are effected by your own experiences and not always the text.
You can like redemption without forgiveness, or no redemption at all better, but that does not mean the other ways of handling the potential of those arcs are always, or even most often bad. it might just mean you don’t like them, and that’s a you thing.
So the next time you see a rando talking about kylo ren or whomever the next controversial fictional emo is, maybe just go ew and move on? This warning prolly means nothing to most of y’all but idk me and mine have received enough electronic abuse to make it relevant enough to mention
“I want there to be a possibility of redemption for us, because we all do terrible things. We should be able to be forgiven. Because if there is no possibility of redemption, what’s the answer then?”
On Dragonstone, Queen Rhaenyra collapsed when told of Luke’s death. Luke’s young brother Joffrey (Jace was still away on his mission north) swore a terrible oath of vengeance against Prince Aemond and Lord Borros. Only the intervention of the Sea Snake and Princess Rhaenys kept the boy from mounting his own dragon at once. As the black council sat to consider how to strike back, a raven arrived from Harrenhal. “An eye for an eye, a son for a son,” Prince Daemon wrote. “Lucerys shall be avenged.”

Elaena lived a much longer life than her sister Daena, and a much more tumultuous one than her sister Rhaena. Although Elaena had three husbands during her lifetime, the great love of her life was her cousin, Lord Alyn Velaryon. She gave birth to two bastard children by him, the twins Jon and Jeyne Waters. Elaena had hoped to marry Alyn, but he was lost at sea.
She would go on to marry three times, first to Lord Ossifer Plumm who died on their wedding night, then Lord Ronnel Penrose. He sat on the king’s small council as master of coin; but it was widely known that Elaena was the one performing the duties, as she was shrewd and intelligent with money. King Daeron trusted her with many important matters of state, and she grew influential. Elaena birthed Ronnel four children: Robin, Laena, Jocelyn, and Joy Penrose. After the birth of her seventh child, Elaena declared that if seven was sufficient for the gods, it would do for her as well.
Not long after Ronnel’s death, Elaena married once more, for love and by her own choosing. With King Daeron II’s blessing, Elaena was married to Ser Michael Manwoody, a Dornishman who had attended the court of Mariah Martell. While her husband was a cultured man of great wit and learning, Elaena said it was not those traits that had caused her to fall in love with him, but his love of music, and he was known to play the harp for her. When Michael died, Elaena commanded his effigy to be carved with him holding a harp, instead of the sword and spurs of knighthood.

Step up your dad game my dudes. Compliment your sons.
“When it came to Number Five, I started to panic at one point, because I’d literally seen hundreds of kids with Peter Hoare, the director. […]
Then I got a tape from Aidan Gallagher, who looked at the camera and said,
‘I would kill to have this part’ and then launched into his audition.
I just instantly knew, that’s Five.”
- Showrunner Steve Blackman in an interview with Entertainment WeeklyAIDAN GALLAGHER as NUMBER FIVE in THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY (2019-)
Yesterday I found out that my love life is so… picturesque? That my friends ship me with guys I know. Like, they literally said “you know I’ve always been team (insert name)” or “well, (insert name) is the first in my list, isn’t he the first in your list too?”
There are also ship wars apparently.
Friendly reminder that even girls have to hear things like “oh, you are so amazing, I want someone just like you” from their crushes. Yes, it happens, and it sucks! Deal with it!
my mom says she’s not a hugger. but when i put my arms around her on a gloomy day or after bad news she’s the last to let go.
my dad says he doesn’t want gifts on his birthday, but i see the way his face light up when i get him a card with a nice message and a box full of chocolate anyway. he’s just a kid inside, still. it makes him giddy.
my brother never says i love you. but when i tell him “i just need to finish the dishes before i vacuum!” he wordlessly goes to vacuum the entire house before i can, and if he sees me struggle with a wrapper or a jar or a bottle he mutters ‘c’mere’ and opens it for me without even sparing me a glance.
the thing is, people love you quietly, and you love them quietly, and the air is buzzing with tiny but grand gestures & once you look for them, you find them everywhere. i think that’s really beautiful.
sometimes someone’s reasoning for liking something is very simply “because i enjoyed it”.
not everything needs to have a twelve page essay written about it outlining all the reasons it’s ‘good’ or not (which is subjective as fuck btw)
And to be clear.
He was only ever a fraction of a Bezos.
For the person commenting on not taking a pay cut, he HAD to change his lifestyle to be able to afford to pay his employees a living wage. He talked to accountants and they helped him break the numbers down based on data about the cost of living and various factors about the commute, housing issues, etc. All inspired by his best friend going nearly into debt over medical costs meanwhile he had several houses, a jet, and drank champagne daily.
He sold stock, houses, and changed his spending and as a result, his employees were overall happier and the way they worked improved. They all bought more shit and had more kids and did all the consumption people want for us while also enjoying their work and their boss enough to band together and buy him a fucking Tesla as a thank you.
And you know what he realized after taking his pay cut? He didn’t need the champagne or the girls or the “lifestyle” of being a billionaire. He feels fulfilled in his work and with the people he’s surrounded himself with and he feels that he’s made a step in the right direction that other businessmen and billionaires should follow.
We are definitely going to talk about this guy on Buisness Desserts
He took a pay cut. I’m not doing all of that. Ima just pay my people well and give top notch benefits.
I wanna be that CEO that pays their employees 70K a year like that white guy I be seeing all over the Internet. I can’t remember his name.
I’m not gonna be like Jeff Bezos but I do wanna be a multimillionaire 😂😂😂
It gets better.
Employees are not costs to be reduced, they are investments, they are assets that appreciate in value
Please read the article and his statements on twitter because it’s eye-opening to see that you CAN be successful doing things ethically.
Update: during the pandemic, Dan Price cut his salary to $0 so that he could keep paying his employees.
What a lovely man
He did this with far less to his name. Bezos could too just as easily. He’s just a bad person, unlike Price.
