GOD MADE TRANS PEOPLE FOR THE SAME REASON HE MADE GRAPES BUT NOT WINE WHO ARE WE TO DENY THIS DIVINE ALCHEMY OF THE SELF?
daniel lavery, “something that may shock and discredit you”
In the early second century, in response to the question “Why has God not made man just as He wanted him to be?” Rabbi Akiva said “For the very reason, the duty of man is to perfect himself.”
I wrote this nearly a year ago, at the time I had never read the work of Daniel Lavery, Rabbi Akiva, or other queer writers who has written similar things.
In fact, a few people accused me of plagiarizing, but it didn’t bother me.
It didn’t bother me because it was proof that it was real. It was proof that throughout history there has always been fruit and wine, there had always been bread and wheat, that there had always been people like me who looked at the magical transformation of one to the other and said “there I am, just as God intended”

the song of achilles by madeleine miller / invisible string - taylor swift / god’s own country dir. francis lee / smoke signals - phoebe bridgers / if beale street could talk - james baldwin / paris blues for. martin ritt / letter from gabriela mistral to doris dana (january 1950) / happy accidents - saint motel / pride and prejudice (2005) dir. joe wright / the sun is also a star - nicola yoon
idk. i think it’s kinda weird that fandoms only have two kinds of gay ships:
-soft wholesome baby gays in so much love everything is perfect uwuwu
-they fucking hate each other. they argue all the time and it’s so horny and cool because theyrr at each other’s throats all the time >:)
what the fuck is Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria, I thought EVERYONE fell into a self-hate spiral when they thought someone hated/was angry with/was annoyed at them???? like what???????????
Ummm oh no
Someone can tell me “no don’t do that!” in a slightly urgent way if I am about to make a mistake and I feel like death and have to fight to keep from sobbing
I do wish I had known about it before

Hey, hey. If you read something tonight let it be this beautiful story about fear, and someone holding you through it ♥️
when brenna twohy said “there is no such thing as an unhaunted house” and when @inkskinned said “i can’t imagine what it’s like always finding new scars on me” and when andrea gibson said “we wear our traumas the way a guillotine wears gravity. our lover’s necks are so soft”
Hey Racket, do you like to read works of the non-fan fiction variety? If so do you have any recommendations or works that have inspired you or that influcenced your writing style/technique?
This is embarrassing but I read incredibly little published fiction. I have a really hard time dedicating time and space to that when there is so much actual world history that I haven’t read yet 😭
That being said the book that was most influencing of my style (I strive toward it anyway) and the one I reread once a year is Perfume by Patrick Süskind. I stylistically also really love Jeffrey Eugenides’ work and DEFINITELY JG Ballard’s stuff.
I also really like the works of Eugene Martin (in particular Waste (ah, janitorial minutiae)) and also anything by Brian Evenson. Those two books/authors would all probably fall under the thriller/horror category though and I wouldn’t say the last two authors influenced me much as far as style. But they are fabulous, thrilling reads!
