The “Off the Podium” podcast just came out with three long, great interviews with some North American ski jumpers, so if anyone’s interested, enjoy!
Edit: Now they’ve added another one! Keep ‘em coming!
I gotta say, I don’t like how this World Cup season is developing. Should I even bother to watch today’s comp when I get home? Anything worth watching today?
Edit: thanks for the replies, guess it’s not worth the bother 🤷♀️
Japan’s gonna be in Willingen right? Otherwise it’s adieu to Ryoyu’s overall chances😔
Why is Ryoyu always giving me false hope in training these days?😔
So, if anyone wants some good ski jumping content after this exhausting week (and it’s not even over yet), I recommend Ale Loutitt’s interview with the “Off The Podium” podcast.
I also recommend the podcast’s upcoming Olympic coverage. I’ve been listening to them since their Pyeongchang coverage, which was a blast.
And now Ryoyu “quali-winner” Kobayashi didn’t win the quali? Clearly this whole covid week is an alternate universe🧐
Jk congratulations Cene! 🎉
So again I come on Tumblr to see more bad news😔 This whole Pyeongchang medalist curse is really real damn…
Is it just me or did Tumblr on desktop all of a sudden change just now? I don’t like it.
Omg nooo why am I always met with bad news when I go on here?😩
I guess Riiber will be our only option in Beijing after all
Riiber before the competition: My aim is to get top 5, but I’m mostly looking at this as training.
Riiber after the competition: Now it’s a bit bitter (to get silver after leading in the first round). We now see how important the style points are (he had a bad landing in the first round). I was really nervous and couldn’t relax like I had done in the previous rounds, but that’s good practice for the Olympics.
Reporter: After doing this, would you like to do some special jumping?
Riiber: Well, I hope none of the jumpers will be left out of the Olympics because of Covid, but if that happens, I’m there.
Reporter: So you would like to jump, for example, in the team competition if they asked you?
Riiber: There are a lot of better ski jumpers than me available, but if they ask, yes definitely. That would be fun.
Hey, if we’re losing Daniel at the Olympics (and God forbid, possibly Marius too), can we please borrow Riiber from the noco in the team competition? 🙏
Edit: Jarl reading my mind in the interview😂
Norwegian nationals in Holmenkollen, final results:
Congratulations on your first gold in nationals Johann! 🤩🎉
The only one not beaten by a combiner🙈
Norwegian nationals after the first round: Jarl Magnus Riiber in the lead!!
2. Forfang -4.4
3. Granerud -7.6
Come on Jarl, go and win this!! 😃🤞
Amazing jump by Riiber! 133m (hillsize 134m in Holmenkollen), but unfortunately a bad landing. I’m really rooting for him to get on the podium😃🙏
So, the Norwegian nationals in Holmenkollen are starting now. Obviously Daniel, Fredrik and Marius aren’t there because of Covid isolation/quarantine, but the rest of the A team is.
Also Jarl Magnus Riiber is competing, and according to the commentators he has done really well in training and might get on the podium! 🙌
NOOOOOO the Olympics are too close for this! After everything Daniel has been through, going to the Olympics and (hopefully) getting a team medal (and we can only dream of an individual one) is the least deserves! But he’s not gonna make it there is he💔😔
Halvor: This weekend has been awful for me. I regret going here. A weekend here trying to figure out the hill takes more energy out of me than the entire 4hills, so I should have just stayed at home. But I’m looking forward to the next couple of hills that have ice tracks that work better for me.
