she has not, but one day she does wish to “settle down” at sea with a person whom she truly loves. the thought of bringing children into this world is a frightening one to her, though she would be happy if it were to happen, or if she were to adopt a child.
how do they picture their life after piracy(if they ever plan to settle down)?
at the moment, she cannot see a life after piracy. and a part of her never wishes to settle down, for deep down she is a warrior. a commander of her father’s troops, and a calculating pirate. the last thing she would ever want was to retire into the comfort of her old life.
how does you character hope that they’ll die?
a swift, painless and honorable death. preferably at sea.
if they were not a pirate what would they be (realistically)?
if safiye had not slipped out of the window that night, she would have married into the italian royal family and lived a life of silence. her very nature would have been repressed and she would have likely fallen into depression. she would have been nothing but arm candy to a powerful man, who’s opinions and words did not matter.
what would they dream of being if not a pirate? (this does not have be rational, it can just be a fantasy.)
at a young age she dreamed of becoming a sultana. her father inspired this in her, as he chose to raise safiye as though she were an imperial prince. making his strategies known to her, allowing her to lead his army in combat, and giving her the basic freedom of expression. her dream was to expand the empire further than any sultan before her time, conquering land and ruling in a fair manner.
when or how was the character educated?
safiye had many tutors in her youth, whom educated her as though she was born a boy rather than a girl. her father demanded that she know of all affairs, as she had been his favored child and likely heir.
what are the character’s political and religious beliefs?
she has always been a opinionated person, very quick to speak out on policies which did not fair well with the people. more often than not, she received glares at her father’s court for not remaining silent of these matters when she should have. her father valued her judgement, and she valued the influence she had on the man.
whilst safiye used to be a religious person, years at sea have drained this from her. she does not bind herself with the teachings of the quran. she drinks, smokes and gambles – but then again, allah welcomes even sinners whom sin righteously. she never drifted far from her faith, upholding many of the values of the teachings and most of all those of mourning: uttering not words of comfort but rather guidance. to allah belongs that which he takes and that which he gives, and everything has an appointed time…
what is the character’s moral code? where do they draw the line if ever? are they more likely to make moral judgements towards others or themselves?
safiye is most likely to make moral judgements which benefit others rather than herself. she has a large heart, though guarded. the line she will always draw is not to harm children. she will not use violence unless it is a last resort, but when angered she is more than willing to set the world on fire.

safiye is quick to judge another on how they hold themselves, if they appear to refined she will likely turn her nose up at them, or turn away from their presence all together before even getting to know them. though, often she is more drawn towards those whom have a rough and boisterous energy. she never liked the frail and weak, she is a product of power.
who is the one person your character trusts the most?
safiye has not one person she trusts most, but two. the first is her confidant, the person whom solely knew her secret from the first ship she ever boarded. she would lay down her life for that person, as well as the second. the second being lucia. though their friendship is more recent, the other is her sister in arms. and she would do absolutely anything to keep her from harm, even if lucia generally goes looking for it.
how would your characters parents describe them?
her mother would likely describe safiye as a whirlwind or an earthquake. for, in her eyes, safiye has no ladylike qualities. her father however, would describe her as a well crafted dagger. swift, skilled and obscure. for she gets things done, is reliable, strong and can hit when it’s least expected.
what was the best moment of the characters life? worst?
the worst moment of her life was when her father told her in a letter that she was to marry into the italian royal family. not even in person, by letter. she truly believed that would be the end of her life.
the best moment was when she first glanced upon little brother. she dropped to the ground, unshackled the baby monkey and wrapped it in her arms. simply holding him, she knew that he would be her companion for life.
what is the character’s “big secret”, and what will happen if it is discovered?
her big secret is that she is the imperial princess of the ottoman empire. this is something she fears coming out as pirates have a tendency of using people to their advantage and hers would be a bountiful exchange. if she were discovered they would likely take her back to the ottoman empire and negotiate for her release. though, it is highly unlikely she would let anyone get away with that, but rather display large scale acts of violence to keep herself as far as she can get from returning. instilling fear in the hearts of men.

she absolutely sucks at firing a gun, it always ends up in a disaster when she tries. she’s completely off aim, and has practically given up on that matter.
what is their weakness or what will paralyze them with fear?
her weakness is her friend. if her comrade were to come to harm she wouldn’t know what to do with herself, they were together fleeing her father’s soldiers for such a long time. that the other has become her family.
what do they plan to do with their share of the treasure?
truth be told, safiye has not made her mind up yet. though, she doesn’t really need it. gold coin is not something she has little of, she’s more in it for the excitement and the adventure. she’s debating between setting up an orphanage with the gold, buying herself a new sword and giving it to those whom need it more than her.
