Is the Jimmy Neutron revival finally happening?

I decided to dust off my old tumblr account and make a news post today. I just realized it’s been over a year since I last updated it.
A possible new development has come up today on Debi Derryberry’s twitter page. If you have attention to detail like I do, you probably noticed the subtleties. If not, I’ll break it all down in this news post. Quite honestly, if I didn’t feel like something was going on, I wouldn’t be sharing what I saw with you all.
I also have some information about a 3-night marathon of the show on TeenNick during the NickRewind block coming up next week on February 21st, including several third season episodes that have not aired in over a decade.
First off, I need to address housekeeping before I dive into the news that I have.
I have been away from the Neutron community since last summer. As many of you know, I had to secure my twitter account and keep my tweets protected because of several trolls who were harassing me and trying to associate me with them. They put words in my mouth I didn’t even say, and one or two accounts blocked me even though I had nothing to do with any of it.
Since I have done this, the trolls have virtually disappeared. I have not made a formal decision as to whether I plan on removing the padlock from my account. Several factors will need to be taken into careful consideration. I’m going to continue to keep an eye on the Jimmy Neutron feed on twitter as a whole and I’ll make a decision soon.
I have also been dealing with depression. Depression can make you lose interest in the things you enjoy and that has essentially happened to me. I’ve tried to do other things to help me cope with it, but it’s been very hard. Personal issues in my life including what happened with the trolls last summer left me feeling quite deflated and I lost the passion I once had to devote to the project.
It’s for these reasons that I disappeared from the fandom. I still don’t know if I’ll be as active as I once was. It entirely depends on the news cycle and what, if anything, is materializing with regard to the small piece of evidence I found today.
As it is, I have someone else posting memes on my Facebook page. We were sharing posting duties until I took my hiatus. I’m still the admin for the page, while he posts content only. Most of what he’s posted has been fine from a content-standpoint, and as long as he keeps it that way, I’m cool with it.
There’s been no new news since last spring anyway, so I figure there’s really no point in me hanging around all that much if there isn’t anything noteworthy to discuss. Many fans have dropped off twitter and Facebook since my hiatus, but they probably would have even if I hadn’t have taken the long break simply because the last news we had was in April of last year. It’s hard to maintain any kind of momentum or enthusiasm when news is sporadic.
DEBI AND ROB VIDEO ON TWITTER
On April 1st, 2019, there were pictures of Debi, Keith Alcorn, John Davis, and one or two animators from Nick Animation that Nissa, Keith’s daughter, shared on her twitter account. Nissa also dropped a few hints on her twitter account several days prior to the meeting in California.
Since that date, we have had radio silence. No new news. Then the troll debacle happened in June which prompted me to padlock my twitter account and I disappeared.
I have a personal twitter account that I have been using for a while. I have still been typing Jimmy Neutron into the search box on a regular basis to check for news on that account and have been doing so since last summer. Even though I haven’t been on my JNRevival twitter page, doesn’t mean that I have stopped checking for updates. Suffice it to say, there was occasional speculation every so often, but otherwise, nothing, which was why I saw no point in tweeting or posting anything on social media. The petition can only be shared so many times and there really wasn’t anything else for me to do due to the extended period of radio silence.
Today has changed that somewhat.
On Debi Derryberry’s twitter account, she shared a video of herself with Rob Paulsen doing the voices of Jimmy and Carl with the following caption and hashtags:
Do Jimmy and Carl seem a little…different? Nah, still the same goofy kids!
#voiceover #voiceoveractor #voiceovers #voiceoverartist #netflix #jimmyneutron #nickelodeon #nicktoons #cartoony #animations
So many people have overlooked the hashtags which surprised me, as they can sometimes give a clue as to what may be going on in the context of the tweet.
The specific hashtag I’m referring to is #netflix. Why is that so important?
Well, first as fans, one has to wonder why Rob and Debi are together. Was it just a random get-together, or was there a possible recording session at Nick Animation? The detective side of me is speculating that this may have been a recording session. Debi and Rob are both very busy people. Monday is a typical day of work for them. They get up early, get ready for the day, take a look at their schedules to see what recordings they have, and off they go to work.
The second reason why this hashtag is so important shouldn’t really surprise anyone who has been in the loop. In November 2019, Nickelodeon and Netflix penned a multi-year deal to create and produce original animated feature films and television series based on Nickelodeon’s library of characters (here is the article). I wasn’t around to share that bit of news, but I didn’t read too much into it at the time.
Both of these reasons make it abundantly clear that the mention of the Netflix hashtag in this particular context is a surefire sign that some Neutron-related thing is going on. It’s not a press release, but it’s the closest I’ve seen to one yet.
I will admit, however, that even if the Netflix hashtag hadn’t been there, I still would have thought something was up either way. But this one hashtag gives away quite a bit of information. This has gone over many people’s heads which is why I felt the need to break it all down. As I said earlier, if you have an attention to detail and you paid attention to ALL of the hashtags like I did, it’s pretty easy to figure out why one particular hashtag in her tweet gave us enough information to think and speculate on.
Could I be way off on this? Possibly. I have been before. As a disclaimer, this is all purely speculation. Any of this could be true or none of it could be true. Only time will tell.
THREE-NIGHT JIMMY NEUTRON MARATHON ON TEENNICK/NICKREWIND
TeenNick’s NickRewind block is getting a 3-night marathon of the show starting on February 21st and running through the 24th, according to Zap2It’s schedule online. This marathon will be showcasing a variety of episodes from the past three seasons. While “Stranded”, a fan favorite, will not be airing, several episodes from season 3 that have never aired on Nicktoons and have not been seen on television in over a decade will be shown. Among them include “King of Mars” and “How to Sink A Sub/Lady Sings the News.” The last time these episodes were shown was in 2006 and 2007 which were the final two years the show aired, even in reruns, on the main network.
For more information about the marathon including the dates and times the episodes will be airing, head on over to zap2it.com, enter your zip code, select your cable or satellite provider, and search for The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. You can also click here to see the entire schedule.
That’s all the news I have for today. While it may not seem like much, it’s some of the most noteworthy news that has come out of the fandom in quite some time. It’s important to look for the small details as they can help piece the puzzle together.
I really don’t know when I’ll be back. We shall see. For right now, I’m only going to make appearances whenever there is something newsworthy to share.
Jimmy, Carl, and Nick just… hanging out? When did that ever happen? I guess Jimmy and Carl are cool after all! @yakkopinky #voiceover #voiceoveractor #voiceovers #voiceoverartist #netflix #jimmyneutron #nickelodeon #nicktoons #cartoony #animations
It sure didn’t take long for more speculation to pop up. The #netflix hashtag is something we should continue to pay close attention to.
More details and speculation can be found in last week’s blog entry.
🎉✨🎊😄 Happy 1st anniversary to Hey Arnold!: The Jungle Movie! 😄🎊✨🎉
For over a decade, we fans of the show campaigned so hard to get this film made, most especially so that we could finally learn what happened to Arnold’s parents, Miles and Stella. Although it seemed like the chances of that happening grew slimmer as time went by, it all paid off when the film finally aired on Nickelodeon last year on November 24, 2017, and we got the happy ending for which we had all hoped with Arnold and his parents.
So once again, happy anniversary to the film the Hey Arnold! fandom has been wanting to see for so long! Remember this, everyone: we SAVED The Jungle Movie! 😄
I’m sorry this post is going to be so short. I thought this panel would have lasted at least an hour or more and quite honestly, I assumed it would since panels at most conventions typically do.
Los Angeles Comic-Con’s panels, according to one fan on twitter who attended, only last half an hour. Another twitter user told me that because the convention employees spent so much time setting up the panel, the voice actors were given even less time to speak.
What happened in the little time they had is as follows:
- The voice cast greeted the fans and spent some time reminiscing about the show.
- They performed the voices for the audience.
- No news was announced on a revival. They encouraged fans to keep signing the petition.
- Autographs, I assume, came shortly after the panel ended.
That is it. Not exactly how I envisioned this would go, but I give huge props to the voice actors for being good sports about it all.
Once again, HERE is a link to the petition. Be sure to use your real name and sign only once. No made-up names or duplicate signatures. I’ve had a lot of these and some of them I will likely have to remove, which will mess up my signature count. I have the goal set at 20,000 so that I can remove some of those made-up names or duplicate signatures. I want the final product of the petition to look its best when I send copies off to Nickelodeon and Nick Animation.
I appreciate the voice actors for taking the time they had to talk about my project and my petition. It means a lot.
We will continue to press on. Thank you for your continued support.
Megan Cavanaugh (Judy Neutron), Carolyn Lawrence (Cindy Vortex), Mark DeCarlo (Hugh Neutron), Debi Derryberry (Jimmy Neutron), and Jeff Garcia (Sheen Estevez) will be in attendance for a Jimmy Neutron reunion panel on Saturday, October 27th at the Los Angeles Comic-Con.
You can purchase badges and learn more about this panel on the convention’s official website.
On August 26th, we reached a huge milestone with 5,000 signatures. It took me 7 years to get this far, which is a pretty big deal for this project.
I cannot thank everyone enough for all of your help - it means a lot! We still have quite a ways to go, however. Debi Derryberry thinks that if we can at least make it to 10,000 signatures (my goal is 20,000), that Nickelodeon might consider bringing the show back.
Please continue to spread the word about the petition and the project (PETITION LINK: https://bit.ly/2eEIrXE). Let’s make this revival happen!
The Adventures Of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius
July 20th 2002- November 25th 2006
Jimmy Neutron and Cindy Vortex on the Strato XL rocket. I always wanted to see them flying together among the stars of the universe. It was difficult, but I managed to realize a childhood dream. Jindy Shipp performed. @nickanimation #fanartfriday
Renew The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius for another season. Sign the petition. https://chn.ge/2ELN0Xd This drawing was made exclusively by me, so that help in the petition. Retweet. Let’s bring the three friends back! #JimmyNeutronrevival @nickelodeon @nickanimation
My first “trailer”. If the episode was a movie. I hope you like it, I’m an amateur. Laughs. :) The Fantastic League of Justice-Bringing Avenging Men… and two Girls! This group consists of Vibrating Lad (Sheen), Burp Boy (Carl), Hulk Jimmy (Jimmy), Special Girl (Cindy), and Invisible Sista (Libby).
I will take this suggestion into consideration and give it some careful thought.
6 years is a lot of time to invest in something as massive as this project is. It’s been hard work and a labor of love for me.
I’m reaching out to any Hey Arnold! fans who are also fans of Jimmy Neutron. With Arnold & Helga’s relationship confirmed, official, and sealed with a kiss, now is the time to make this happen for Jimmy and Cindy as well.
I need your help to make this happen, however, since just following a blog or twitter account or liking the Jimmy Neutron Revival Facebook page is not enough. I have a petition on change.org that has been active since 2011. While I have thousands of likes on my Facebook page and elsewhere, the official signature count on the petition is only 2,759. This is not a lot of signatures for a 6-year-old petition.
It only takes a minute to sign the petition and you can also leave a comment explaining to Nickelodeon why you want the show back. My goal is 20,000 signatures. It would be awesome if I could finally accomplish this goal in 2018. The sooner Cyma Zarghami can get this petition, the greater the likelihood we have of moving things forward to a stage where Nickelodeon may consider reviving the Jimmy Neutron series.
Here is a link to the petition. Please share this petition with others you know on Facebook, tumblr, or twitter after you are finished signing.
We also need to write letters to Cyma too. Here is her address at Nickelodeon in New York:
ATTN: Cyma Zarghami
1515 Broadway, 44th Floor
New York, NY 10036
Thank you all for your help. I really appreciate it. Let’s bring this show back for a 4th season, a TV movie, or both!
