We’ll see. I’ve been thinking about when their dad’s finally home and strong enough to get dressed without needing a son’s help with the fiddly little things. Just imagine how much aftershave he’d use after eight years without smelling anything good.
Certain scents bring old memories back like hella so imagine the impact that it would have on Scott who hasn’t stuck to one aftershave in eight years because they all remind him too much of his dad and maybe had a breakdown on the roof at Christmas after a lil brother accidentally got him dad’s aftershave.
And then there’s Allie, who can remember that smell but probably forgot all those little memories of his dad ‘til they all come flooding back in a tidalwave of aftershave and he remembers all those afternoons he spent playing with toy rockets as dad designed real ones.
So, the first Earth & Sky week came to a close yesterday, and what a day it was :D My dash was on fire with all the gorgeous art and fics, not to mention the posters who interacted each day and left lovely comments and likes.

You don’t need to have read these stories to understand Ohana. Basically, Virg got kidnapped by a crazy lady named Ada and then she came back for revenge. Ohana was written right after these stories so they’re referenced but Ohana’s fairly standalone.
Since we wrote the whole story in one go on Google Docs, we figured we’d post the story in one go too rather than olde style RP reblogging each other. So here’s Earth & Sky and Ohana. Ohana means family. Famiy means that nobody gets left behind or forgotten.
Scott rearranges his tie for the twelfth time since take-off. He’s not nervous, he’s just worn out after a long, weird week and needs to be outside on a mountaintop somewhere, not on his way to a meeting at Tracy Industries headquarters. As acting CEO in Jeff’s absence, Scott attends as many as he can but he’s often absent as well because saving the world or spending time with little brothers is more important to him than yet another meeting about merging departments or projects running behind schedule.
That’s not to say that Tracy Industries isn’t important to him. It is, vitally. It provides International Rescue with much needed funds and it’s one of Scott’s last links to his dad. Keeping the company going is one of the many, many, many duties he picked up after the explosion. Scott’s just got a lot of those duties and not enough time in the week to complete them all…

Bro wrote me this years ago… I still love it so much. I wrote this kinda based off it… including my attempt at matching the style a bit… though I am awful at present tense, so uh yeah. I never posted it, but came across it again recently and realized it was perfect with Day 3′s theme, SO. Here it is. lol There’s some headcanons here Bro and I have toyed with too… like the Academy… which is located in Colorado Springs (where I lived for awhile XD)… which is just a little over an hour drive south of Denver. :Db There’s a lot more about this headcanon’d time I’d like to write one of these days. XDa ANYHOO…
It hasn’t been since Christmas that Virgil’s spoken to his brother. It’s not really surprising as they haven’t really spoken a whole lot over the past few years. Once almost inseparable, it now feels a bit like there’s a chasm between them.
It seemed like life had conspired to draw them apart ever since Scott had been accepted into the Air Force Academy. The last years of high school weren’t the same without Scott being there. His brother called him every day at first, but days became weeks and weeks stretched to months. He came to hear more about how his brother was doing secondhand. Scott was busy. Scott was top of his class. Scott wasn’t coming home for the summer. He never heard these things from Scott.
Then Virgil went to the Denver School of Advanced Technology.
He saw Scott a few times then, but couldn’t forget the first visit when he’d first been settling in. It had been then that he’d realized that the something that had always existed between them felt like it was missing. Perhaps it was one of those things that became lost when childhood came to an end or maybe the time apart had something to do with it. He hadn’t been sure, but either way he mourned it’s absence. He buried himself in his studies, concentrating on graduating and his plans for the future.
Now here he is, in Dad’s jet with Scott at the controls, flying them home. All of Virgil’s belongings from Denver packed in the hold, because he’s moving back home. He’s a mechanical engineer now and will soon be a member of International Rescue. He’s excited to finally begin to learn to fly the ship he’d long ago told their dad he’d pilot one day, but that’s not what’s on his mind as he sits in the cockpit.
He’d been surprised it was Scott waiting to take him home instead of their Dad. The reunion had been happy at first, but now an uncomfortable silence had dropped over the cockpit. Attempts at conversing just feel awkward. It’s all so wrong. It had never been like this before.
Here he is finally having to face what he couldn’t years before. Soon they’re meant to be partners, going into dangerous situations together to rescue those in need. How can they pull that off? They feel so disconnected from each other. It barely even feels like they’re best friends anymore, at least to him. Virgil isn’t sure if Scott has felt it too. Could it be just him who feels this way? He can’t bring himself to broach the topic, deciding instead to hope it just needs time.
He just doesn’t know what to do or say the whole rest of the trip home. Things feel a little easier once they arrive, but their dad, unsurprisingly, seems to catch on pretty quickly that something isn’t right. Virgil notices the way he watches them. They’ve been home only a few days before he suddenly has them pack up and sends them off to the family ranch for training — just the two of them.
Their first exercise set out for them has them not in the training rooms, but outside, scaling one of the large rock formations not far from the ranch. ‘No talking,’ is the one rule their dad has imposed. Once that wouldn’t have been a problem at all, but that’s not the case now; he’s barely able to read his brother.
Virgil’s now absolutely certain their Dad knows as he pauses his ascent, trying to interpret the slightly worried look Scott’s throwing down at him. He can’t work out what Scott’s worried about.
They’re using new gear Brains sent with them to test. Virgil’s been pretty impressed with the multifunction version of the grapple gun Scott’s making use of several yards above him — at least he is until unexpectedly the pack releases from the tool, sending Scott falling backwards with an unusually startled cry.
Their panicked gazes meet for the briefest second and Virgil knows Scott needs him. Virgil doesn’t think, he just moves, reaching out and grabbing for his brother’s wrist as he falls past. With no chance to brace at all, growing shoulder muscles are put to the test as they’re wrenched from the sudden weight of his falling big brother.
Suspended by Virgil’s own grapple line, they simply breathe for a moment, trying to recover from the scare. It’s Scott who breaks the rule of silence first.
“So… what do you say we pause this exercise?”
“Agreed,” Virgil responds eagerly.
Finding Scott a purchase, he’s able to climb down a short ways to a wide ledge and Virgil soon joins him, sitting down beside each other, both still shaken.
“I’ll pull the grapple apart when we get back,” Virgil offers, worried since it’s not often something Brains creates has a flaw.
“Good plan,” Scott agrees distractedly, blue eyes locking with his suddenly. “Virgil…”
Virgil raises a questioning eyebrow, but doesn’t get a chance to respond. A hand hooks around his neck and Scott closes the distance between them, forehead pressing against his.
The last time Scott did this — when his brother left for the academy so long ago — is what first comes to mind. Then all the feelings and words come like a rush. The flood of relief, gratitude, trust and love. 'You saved me,’ ‘You’re amazing,’ and 'Thank you.’
He hasn’t felt their bond like this in so long; suddenly it feels stronger than ever. Overwhelmed in the best of ways, tears form in Virgil’s eyes. 'Anytime,’ he replies, echoing his brother’s feelings with much the same.
Scott pulls away only long enough to briefly get a look at him before closing the gap once more, this time to draw him into a tight hug that Virgil returns just as tightly. Tucking his face into his brother’s shoulder, he feels for a moment like a boy again, finding comfort and safety in his brother’s arms.
“I’ve missed you, Scotty,” he admits out loud, knowing Scott can feel just how much, just as he can now sense how much Scott has been missing him. It’s like the door that had closed between them has been thrown wide open. He hopes it never closes again.
“Me too, Virg.”
They sit on the ledge a little longer before mutually agreeing their done and head back to the ranch. Sitting on the porch side by side after dinner to watch the stars appear in the darkening sky, Scott makes the executive decision that they’re going to head home in the morning.
They’re already halfway home when they finally contact their Dad to let him know they’re on their way home. At first he doesn’t seem very happy with them, but as they try to explain, there’s a change in his expression as he watches them talk — he knows and Virgil can see he’s relieved.
Taking over the controls for a while to give Scott a break, a silence falls between them, but this time it could not be more comfortable. While they still have a lot of catching up to do, every one of Virgil’s doubts are gone. He has his best friend back and something feels complete in a way it hasn’t in a long time. They aren’t back at the island yet, but now he really feels like he’s home.

I know I only reblogged this in january but this is honestly my favourite. I think it came about because I see written stories like lil movies in my mind and I was really struggling to picture a certain scene. So bro did this and the scene exploded like fireworks for me because everything about it is just so good. How do lines on a page manage to build an entire relationship and tell such a story in six panels? Those lil lines say so much, from the way Scott’s sitting on his own, to the arches in Virgil’s back and his arms as he reaches out. The way Scott curls into him and the hand in his hair says everything without there being any words.
BRO. 😭😭😭😭a;siodj;aosida That you can understand the story without needing to know the words… like. GOSH. That just… means so, so much. Like extra much. Visual storytelling is an animators bread and butter… that apparently I got that right for you… a;osidjasda 😭 Thankies so much, Bro. ;A; <3333333
(Fun fact… I did actually write a thing for this… it’s on a different post… which I did just find…. …..annnnd I’m not gonna share cause looking at it now, it kinda really sucks. 🤣 The jist was a long, stressful rescue was a lot and when Virg arrives he seeks out his bro… they talk a little and Scott… closes up and heads to bed. Dammit Scott. XDDD Anyhoo… Very much the inspiration for this was back in the middle of Season 1, we were told Scott was a bit of a ‘hot mess’ …so that was a big bit of the inspiration here. XD)

Hey guys, just quick PSA so to not catch my followers by surprise. 🤣
We’d planned to set Earth and Sky week over Bro’s Easter break… but whoops, it wasn’t actually the dates she’d initially thought. XD So her break doesn’t start till Thursday early afternoon. lol SO I have offered to handle the housekeeping, so to speak, for least a portion of this week.
tl;dr I’m gonna be posting the Earth and Sky start and days instead of Bro for at least the first half of this week. XD

So… this started when streamed some art and drew something that bunnied in my head and I drew more! Then I started writing one night on my tablet when we lost power for hours. I wrote a good half of it then and had ideas how to wrap it up… but it kinda doubled in size the past week or two. lol It ends a bit abruptly perhaps, but I just had to cut it somewhere. XDa And, fair warning, this hasn’t been really beta’d, so my apologies for any bad grammar. Have to see if I can find someone to read it over for me before I post it proper to AO3/FF.net …well, if I do anyways. XD Gotta decide about that… and on a title. lolol

Somehow a copy of that finds its way into the cockpit of every single Thunderbird, the wallet of one exceptionally proud big brother, and quite possibly the wallpapers of a million emotional teenagers who needed a reminder that day of something good in the world.
And in my post about this episode I was pointing out how this went to show how as good a pilot as Alan… OOPS. Thunderbird 2 definitely seems to me like a difficult ship to master and this really showed Alan’s still very inexperienced with her, as he ended up reacting and turning her… accidentally into the fire instead of pushing her back with the VTOLs. WELL…
No one flies Thunderbird 2 like Virgil does. *SAGE NOD*

Hmmm,
it would be interesting to see a comparison of expressions between
Scott here (in no. 3) scooping a bro off the side of a mountain vs. the
expression on Virgil’s face when he is scooping Alan off a mountain in
Avalanche. I feel here we see Scott’s confidence and an ‘this is going
to happen’ attitude. But in Virgil’s case (could just be me) there
appears to be more fear present (possibly related to the fact is is an
avalanche if I want to let fanon creep in).
I would agree that Scott looks calmer than Virgil, and there’s probably a few reasons for that:
Different personalities. While they’re brothers, and both smother-hens over brothers, to boot, that still doesn’t mean their personalities are the same. Scott is a lot more comfortable pulling off death-defying stunts, especially in the air, which then manifests itself as confidence here.
Different skills. There’s a couple of things in this category, so I’m gonna split it.
Piloting ability. Scott, first and foremost, is a pilot. He’s a fantastic pilot, he can pilot anything you give him (we see that in both TAG and TOS), and TB1′s rescues involve a lot more of Thunderbird One, while Virgil in TB2 often does the bulk of the work in a pod vehicle or on the ground rather than using TB2 herself (unless something requires heavy lifting). Virgil (and Gordon, too) is a good pilot, that’s undeniable, but Scott’s in a whole other league (alongside Alan).
Aim. Shoot at a target while moving really, really fast? That’s not Virgil’s thing. He admits it himself - even when he’s stationary, we see him sometimes needing a few shots to catch the target. Racing down in front of an avalanche? That’s about as far from stationary as he’s going to get. Scott, meanwhile, is again very good at that! In fact, Scott tends to make more shots while TB1 is moving than when she’s stationary. No doubt, if Scott wasn’t busy getting Goose to safety and was instead in TB1, scooping the Sherpa pod up would have been his responsibility - that’s more his speed. As it is, when he’s catching Gordon, he has an entire net to catch them in! Much easier (relatively speaking) anyway.
Different equipment. Kinda touched on it already, but TB1 is designed to do mid-air stunts and bizarre rescues. TB2… is not. TB2 is designed to sit on the ground - or hover in the air - and spit out the right vehicle for the job. TB2 herself is much less often the right vehicle for the job, and why should she be? Her role is transporting the gear. (And this is not me saying anything bad about TB2 because yes I love TB1 but TB2 is the heart of IR’s Earth-based rescues. IR could theoretically survive without TB1. Not without TB2). Racing an avalanche - while still not an issue speed-wise, because TB2 is still dang fast - is not her job. Meanwhile, scooping some idiots off a cliff? That’s pretty par for the course with TB1.
And if we’re going into headcanons/backstories, yes there’s that whole avalanche thing… but also that’s Gordon on a high-speed about to crash water-ski-hydrofoil-thing. So the mental panic is going to be about the same for both, I’d think.
tl;dr yes, Scott’s more confident/less visibly afraid than Virgil, but the whole ‘high speed scooping catching small targets’ thing is more his territory anyway.
Hope okay if I slide just couple cents in. XD
I’m not sure I personally see fear in Virgil’s expression here as a person with WAY too many Virgil icons… Mostly just seeing him just… not being as cool as a cucumber as Scott is… which yeah. Very agree this is much cause vehicle.
HOWEVER… because I just gotta stand up for Virg here… The fact he’s doing the kind of swoop in that TB1 could do easily… but doing it in Thunderbird 2… that actually speaks VOLUMES of Virgil’s piloting skills.

Put him in a POD or TB1… then he’s yeah, he’s a competent, solid pilot, but no Scott and Alan. lol XD But Thunderbird 2 is where the boy shines. Scott and Alan could not fly TB2 like Virgil does. (At least… not right away. I mean if they did it full time, then probably yeah. XD But. Yeah. You know. Virg would probably say something like ‘over my dead body’ they’d get to fly Two that much. 🤣 )
